As rapid as othwers have claimed came in suitable out of the box at 7.6 in win7 ExIndex exact same as my 10906x cpu and ram so considerably impressed. Only downside is my harddriveƑ.5 tarabyte) died significantly less than a week afetr i got it and prior to i had time to install this as my new set up drive. a lot smaller than my old drive 128gig vs 1.five terabyte not really the manfactures fault but a individual con none the significantly less (as I wish I could acquire a 1.five tare ssd drive but neither here nor thair just a wish so a veirtual not genuine con). Cost on ssd's nevertheless need to have to come down yes i know their low now but could nevertheless be reduced.

Soon after firmware update, speed & reliability has boost. Firmware update parameters is restricted to AHCI SATA mode only. in my case i had windows 7 installed in IRRT SATA mode, so i had to reinstall operating technique since when i switch mode in BIOS, my laptop won't boot. There has to be superior SSD out there. if i had read testimonials like this prior to this buy, i would have went with other manufacturer. Raiding was discomfort, compaired to plug and play and adds three secs to boot up but I had a high finish 1366 socet method and it shaved 21 secs off the boot time and saves me time on downloads and load screens so the 665 dollars I dropped on it was worth it.Twice the speed as single drive and 1 doller cheaper. Cables make a difference, get some sata 6g/s to get your moneys worth. If you hate waisting time this is the way to go. If you want a superior computer system obtain a greater processor or a second video card.

This factor is superfast. I have a Asus Rampage Gene II operating a Core i7-920 w/ 12GB of Ram. Windows 7 boots to login in 16 seconds! I enjoy it. Optimized to be run in AHCI. I bought this to replace a WD Black Caviar 1TB that died. None with drive itself. The only true complaint is that the bracket it comes with does not match a conventional really hard drive slot. I utilised a 5.25 bay adapter that came with my case so no major deal or cash out of pocket. To the guys wanting upgradable firmware, it was realeased on January 4th. It installed smoothly with no concerns. I did this before installing windows. Windows is not however optimized to make these a drop in factor. You nevertheless have to turn off defrag and adjust other settings to get these running at their peak and preserve them there. Prior to optimizing boot time was over 20 seconds simply. If you google SSD Install Guide you can locate some fantastic recommendations for any SSD actually.

Appears great, I'll attempt it in my new HTPC custom box. Read my "other thoughts" which is the reason for my post. None so far... Of course considering that I don't have it yet. A common note for everybody complaining about obtaining no documentation stating that it ought to be run under AHCI mode: Each SATA drive (either SSD, HDD,...) Really should BE RUN Below AHCI MODE! The truth is that appart from some raid configuration, if you are employing a single SSD or HDD SATA drive, you ought to use it beneath AHCI mode to get the complete SATA capabality. Otherwise the SATA drive will be used below IDE emulation mode, which of course renders the SATA useless...

Lightening rapidly. Tech assistance was rapid and accurate The version of the firmware that came with this unit was buggy. I suffered from the random reboot issue that plagued other shoppers. I was capable to resolve by updating the firmware. The update method wasn't all that intuitive, and I necessary to make contact with tech help to get it functioning properly. Overall I'm pleased with this drive. The cost per storage unit is fairly steep, but the speed a lot more than tends to make up for it. I had to contact ADATA tech support to resolve the difficulty due to the fact of the lack of clear documentation. General I'm a pleased camper. I'm capable to absolutely boot Windows 7 in about 15 seconds (or less).

quick when it functionscheap No user updateable firmware.Firmware it shipped with has concerns with the ICH9 controller on intel motherboardsrandom reboots I purchased a single of these as properly as a single of the 128gb models for workstations and servers. It refused to boot on an MSI P45 Neo 3 simply because of an issue the present Sandforce firmware has with the Intel ICH9 controller. However, A-data didn't style this drive to have upgradeable firmware by the finish user and they call for you to send the drive to them to update it. So I ended up utilizing them with two H55 systems and they worked, but both would have random reboots, typically when the computer systems have been idle for lengthy periods of time. When it would reboot, it would get a disk study error but rebooting once again would resolve it. I replaced both drives with Intel X25 drives and the rebooting issue totally disappeared. None, certainly, at this point. Hope my opinion will alter when I install the replacement. No noticeable improvement in method boot time or system execution. Loading some applications did look to be more quickly. Only 111GB vs 128. Even if you order into 1,000,000,000 bytes = 1GB and the rest of the planet calcuates size employing IEEE standards, then it need to be 119GB. Did I get a sub-par SSD or is it an problem with my technique configuration (Gateway 4300 series, AMD 9750 quad, 8GB DDR2 RAM)? Attempted to Contact A-Data via consumer help hyperlink on their internet page to discuss / troubleshoot. No response following a seven days. RMA'ed to NewEgg for a replacement. Hope to have greater comments after replacement arrives. This is my 1st A-Information solution, may be my last if it doesn't perform out. Undoubtedly not content with A-Data lack of response / customer support. Can not suggest A-Data primarily based on this expertise. Hope ot have far better opinion and will submit update when replacement SSD is installed. Manufacturer Response:Dear Consumer, Thank you for leaving your precious feedback. Our S599 makes use of the SandForce controller SF-1222, which uses More than-Provisioning (OP) to offer a more quickly general IOPS and improved reliability. OP creates a virtual pool of pre-erased blocks, in addition can later replace poor block sectors. At the moment all SandForce controllers will need to More than-Provision a normal of 13% from the total NAND flash. Please note that total advertised capacity is the actual quantity of NAND flash memory put to use, it may perhaps not be straight accessible but is given back in the form of endurance, create amplification, and performance. It's light, it turns on and can shop information Did not perform as rated when I initially installed it and it has only gotten worse with time. I have ATTO benchmarks from when it was initial installed and a lot more current ones that show how at most filesizes the performances has degraded to less than the performance of the next smaller sized filesize from it's starting. I have run SSD Tweaker and produced sure that Trim is enabled in Windows 7. I really should have gone with the Vertex 2 or one thing from OCZ just due to the fact they in reality have customer service. I only have a limited replacement policy for this and didnt' have time to certainly deal with an RMA till it was also late. I contacted ADATA support and it took about a week or longer to hear back. Due to the fact then I have emailed a few significantly more times but they will have to totally ignore what I basically write in the email given that at a single point I sent my ATTO benchmarks and the following reply he asked if I could send them for his engineering dept. to look at. I haven't heard back from that one particular for probably a month. Their customer help is pretty much non existant and when it is "there" it might possibly as effectively not be given that they don't even pay consideration to what you write. Initially product with ADATA and it will be the final, sad issue is companies like this generally don't even care to deliver a superb solution. Go with OCZ mainly because even if you have a problem at least their is assistance from that enterprise. Relatively early on there had been some Windows errors of "Lost Communication with HDD", usually around recovery from sleep or hibernate. Reboots were awesomely rapid, so little worry there. The speed is fantastic. A large upgrade from my 7200 RPM mechanical. I am using the drive inside an IcyDock enclosure in my Mac Pro. Mac Pro customers need to note that the integrated bracket will not operate in a Mac Pro drive sled. An IcyDock or similar device is necessary to fit this drive into a sled. The speed and value of this SSD appear on par, if not a little greater than present 'SandForce Driven' offerings from other brands.A-Information has present a firmware update for this drive, which really should most likely be installed by all users. It appears to appropriate troubles with energy saver attributes, such as the drive failing to wake from a sleep state. It also addresses troubles related to random reboots, though I never knowledgeable that dilemma. The documentation and software for the firmware update procedure is terrible. There is a particular set of specifications, that is documented nowhere. If you fail to meet the needs, or stick to the procedure, the update will at greatest fail, or at worst give a BlueScreen on your Windows method. To update the firmware, you ought to download the utility, and have the SSD installed in your system in AHCI mode. You also need to have to disable UAC in Windows, otherwise it will crash the personal computer about 50% of the time.Soon after that, you ought to run the update utility in Administrator mode. Select the firmware package you downloaded, choose the SSD to update, and click the button. If you did almost everything effectively, the bottom left part of the window will show "Downloading block xxx"If you don't see that, or your personal computer crashes, the update did not happen. Don't assume that just due to the fact your personal computer restarted that it worked. Be certain to use the utility to confirm the update by checking the version numbe A-Information: Thank you for addressing difficulties with this SSD by issuing a firmware update. I hope you continue to help your product in this manner. That mentioned, please be positive to completely document all needs and steps for future versions of the update, and retroactively concern a new set of documentation for the present update. Your updater application ought to also be made additional robust by adding error handling and notification; the existing application either does nothing at all and restarts or crashes when it encounters an error.Nowhere in your present document is a requirement of AHCI mode or disabling of UAC talked about. This triggered myself and other customers hours of frustration, and I'm confident that it has generated numerous unnecessary returns of your item.

Fast and low power consumption and makes the identical quantity of noise as a rock does.Extremely, quite quickly information reads, rapidly but not as rapid information writes but nevertheless far faster than spinner form mechanical tricky drives. At the time of purchase A-Information had slashed 60 dollars off, good! Additional nice for the capacity per value dropped to just .62 cents a gigabyte. The price tag cut made it a incredibly great obtain indeed. Came with a two.five to three.5 mounting bracket, but the holes to mount the unit in your case are smaller in size and did interfere with my screw-much less mounting technique and essential drilled out a bit.But it came with this bracket and all the small screws you need to have, is or was only a difficulty mainly because my case (HAF932) utilizes cradles to hold the drive and they have pins and don't allow for small screws. So if you're thinking score, no require to acquire the adapter to mount the drive, be aware it makes use of the tiny mounting screws and not the very same as a standard hard drive would use to mount in in the Computer case frame. Any screw variety mount frame works fine with the screws provided, it's just the hard drive cradle as it mounts tricky drives and not CD or DVD ROM drives. (same screws as those)I deduct no eggs and truly add mainly because I did get the bracket, and it drills so very easily I just about could have spun the drill bit by hand and I have 4 further tiny screws. I applied a Western Digital ten,000 RPM drive as the major boot drive and loaded a clean new OS there, then added the SSD and installed Office and other applications and my games on the SSD.Summary: freaking outstanding quick with no hassles of working with a SSD as the boot drive. Excellent for a lap top rated but a desk top rated (?) I am currently booted up and don't require booting in 45 seconds versus the 1.5 minutes I am seeing. Games, the loading and or reloading of due to my elephant like reflexes don't permit the typical rapid pull from a drink, forget a B-hit. What was a matter of a pause as you watched the loading bar creep across is now watching it race across like reading a 1 KB file. Office 2007, word opens in about 1.1 seconds prepared to sort. When I save, it defaults to my documents on the spinner, no hassles no fuss no muss. Video Editing, Mixed bag, have to save to the SSD to get pleasure from the substantial file study speeds so it requires changing the default save location.

All that SSD is, rapid and uncommon mechanical failure. NOT COMPAT WITH NVIDIA BIOS!!!! BEWARE! After getting the device, soon after numerous crashes and Win7 reinstalls, contacted their service dept by way of e mail. Their service desked emailed back (after a day waiting) to update the Firmware to prevent crashes from sleeping and hibernating. I went to the link, downloaded, ran their code, and it COULD NOT Uncover my TWO S599s in the array. Contacted the assist desk once more; they NOW pointed out incompatibility nVidia BIOS in their firmware update documentation. Their solution, use their warrenty return method (shipping at my price to them, 2 weeks minimum turnaround time) so they could update the Firmware for me. I also tried breaking the array, reinstalling the OS, and updating, still drives not located. Okay, ran to neighborhood store, bought a SATA to USB device. Hooked it up to an old Dell laptop (no nVidia BIOS), can see and use the drive, but once again, their lousy firmware update computer software can not uncover their drives. Their firmware update doc points out the incapitibility with nVidia BIOS systems (how numerous are there?), but the device packaging, adds, or website do not have this documented, once more, NOT DOCUMENTED IN THEIR PACKAGING OR SALES MATERIAL (which I consider DISHONEST). Plus, it appears they cannot professionally write programs to sustain their hardware. General knowledge to date, FAILED try at what must be a wonderful device, disfunctional computer software for a pc company, and a NON-Customer SERVICE-ORIENTED Organization to be shunned.

I've updated the system BIOS to no avail. I was in a position to get by way of the initial leg of the XP 64 install (I know it's an antique, but it's vital for some CAD/CAM applications). I suspect my drive had concerns from the get go because the XP set up was stuttering extremely badly, and now my method won't POST without having unplugging it. I'm sure it's a nice drive but I won't know until I return it and get a different. Meanwhile, my 2x OCZ Agility two's are up and running like a charm :P
