Cons: - very basic software with few options- just enough power to shut down gracefully- takes a long time to recharge

Pros: - cheap- simple to setup
Comment:
The most basic and economical UPS you can get.I always use a UPS when a power outage fried my power supply. I was lucky it did not affect the rest of my computer and data.I have a P4/4GB ram with 80GB and 160GB hard drives and two 20" monitors and a DSL modem plugged into this and it gives about 2-3 minutes of run-time. It gives me just enough time to shout down.Make sure you FULLY charge this before you test it. If this lasts 1 year I'll be satisfied.

Cons: none so far, i know it has only been a day but everything is working as it should. there is no glaring problem with the product that i can tell. the only issues would be if it stops doing what it is already doing.

Pros: Easy Setup: you need to turn the unit on its back and plug in a wire. there are two and one comes unplugged. if you find you are meeting resistance, it is your angle. when aligned correctly it does not require much force.Test: after that i plugged in some things to see if it provided power. did a test and pulled the cord, battery kicked in with no problems as it should.Software: quick download, quick install. easy functionality and good layout.

i love this product. it does exactly what it claims to do and it is very easy to set up. i got the unit to work and i am a layperson at best when it comes to this power stuff.

Pros: Reliable, solid.

This is a solid, reliable UPS that works out of the box (no drivers) with OS X, Linux, and Windows. Two years in, it is still ticking over and pulling me through short blackouts.

APC is really the only name in power conditioning as far as I'm concerned. I bought this to replace a unit that finally gave up after 7+ years of service.

Cons: - None so far.

Pros: - Works as designed.
Comment:
I can't make a comment on the software that came with the UPS as I'm using it with a Synology box based on Linux. It has it's own daemon that will monitor the battery level, etc. The experience I've had using it with the Synology DS411J has been positive though.. no issues at all. Kicks in and keeps the NAS box up and rockin during the flaky power times. This is my first APC product and I would highly recommend.

Cons: expensive to replace the battery

Pros: great in areas with brownouts or blackouts
Comment:
these are great and I've owned many APC products, However, the price of replacement batteries is so high that it's usually not much more money to just replace the whole unit-this isn't unique to APC though-most brands are similar in this respect. That said, APC makes good stuff and I'll continue to buy their product.
