-Extremely low power consumption-Performs far better at house server applications than my P4 three.06GHz (mostly since of the RAM and SATA upgrade)-Can be cooled with a single low speed 120mm fan on 50%-All round a good solution that runs very quickly on Windows Server 2008 R2. -Only two SATA, sort of a bummer if you're attempting to setup a server but my server is small so I only have two drives anyway.-No hardware RAID support-PCI slot rather of PCIe If you're seeking for a media center, I'd strongly advocate something from Zotac or ASUS with an ION chip. You could pay further, but look at the added wifi and power provide, Nvidia 9400M graphics and PCIe.

What a wonderful item from Intel. Runs Windows Server 2008 R2 64 bit with no challenges what so ever! Dont neglect to max out the Memory with some Important Ballistix 4GB ƒ x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) This memory works like a champ. None. Because of hyperthreading the processor is shown as 4 CPUs in task manager on the performance tab, nothing at all incorrect with that!

Low wattage, really compact, dual core, mini pci-e for wi-fi. Constructed a technique out of curiosity as to how it would carry out. Installed Windows 7 Ultimate. Scores a 3.1 performance rating primarily due to graphics functionality. Wonderful tiny program making use of 2 gigs of memory and a 500 GB drive. So far no glitches. Some concern for heat troubles, being passive. If single sided memory employed it will only recognize HALF the total amount. Tried three different sets of 2GB and only recognized 1GB. System ended up slightly additional pricey than I wanted. One particular PCI slot. No possibility of placing in a PCI-e video card. Nevertheless testing. Wanted to use as a higher efficiency, low energy, media center. Still have to play a DVD to see if the graphics will carry out effectively adequate. Would be a good method for somebody with limited space that makes use of for world wide web, e mail, office apps. End expense 趐 excluding O.S.

Low power, Really Low CPU Temperature. Excellent Functionality/Watt. two Memory Sockets is nice to have rather of one particular on some other Atom boards. Not Intel's Fault, but the Realtek 8111DL has troubles with linux on some of the far more recent kernels. It is achievable to get it to operate reliably by manually compiling drivers from Realtek, but it would be nice if it "just worked." If Intel had chosen a various network controller this board would be a five egg. Again I am not knocking Intel for the difficulties I 1st skilled, but I do blame Intel for deciding on a Realtek NIC. I would have paid the additional ŭ-บ to get an Intel brand NIC onboard.

size, functionality 1st one particular was RMA, Intel customer service was entirely useless (fortunately NewEgg took care of me). If you look at the reviews you will see that this solution has a lot of RMA . . . incredibly disappointed at Intel. Very first time getting Intel, and was very disappointed with the quality and outsourced costumer service.

- low energy- quietIn a crowded case Intel recommends a fan by the way. But spec wise this board can run quite hot and we shouldn't be concerned, but even a tiny fan running quite gradually and adding no noise (scythe 40mm) will decrease temps in extremely crowded instances considerably. - not a large performance increase more than 330뭉 combo- DVI- awkwardly lengthy BIOS startup timeThe latter is my greatest gripe, this factor goes by means of the BIOS bootup rather gradually and awkwardly. Intel ought to update that. especially for Shuttle X27 X27D owners... this board is uncomplicated to drop into the elegant tiny Shuttle case, and runs Ubuntu 10.04 spiffier than the older board did... but not *much* so. Evaluate how to devote ๖ cautiously, primarily based on my practical experience I'd say the X27D runs just fine. This saves a couple of watts and runs a tad quicker. I had upgraded my Shuttle's fan to a Scythe 40mm (utterly silent), but thought that this would get me completely fanless. effectively, you could do it, but you'd have to be comfy with the technique reporting up to 68C in CPU temperature (which can manage up to 100C). so i just glued the small scythe fan to the side of the case, set the BIOS fan speed to 50%, and this now run in the Shuttle case at a quite acceptable 58C (CPU) below prime load, and the case feels cool to the touch. just a small air movement does a lot with this board in a crowded case, but then once more i skilled no stability concerns prior to deciding to put the fan back in.Excellent little board though.

Nice small footprint, low energy, cost 1st 1 worked for approx 1 hour??? Newegg replaced it within five days!!Following installing in my small itx case, I necessary to place the XP os on this littel board as I am working with it for some legacy computer software apps. I utilized my original XP-SP1 disk to install but during device driver installation it kept on BSOD. Right after some study on the net I discovered out that the hardware is new sufficient that XP-SP1 will not install, so I had to slipsteream an XP-SP3 install disk. As soon as I did that XP installed completely. It has two serial port headers on the mobo, for any needing them. I like th little size and energy this little guy has. Right after the OS install challenge got fixed it is operating very nicely.MEM PQI26400-2GDBRHD 250G WD 7K 16M SATA2DVD burnerLite-On IHAS124-04

Dual core atom. Passively cooled. Responsive and quickly enough for running basic net, e-mail, office and productivity apps. 1000BASE-T interface. Graphics is fine for web stuff but may bog down on complete screen HD decoding. Not for 3D games or anything else CPU intensive. Built this up utilizing an Intel 40GB SSD and 2GB ram in the Antec ISK 300-65 case. ATX power cable to the board was a bit tight otherwise no difficulties. A surprisingly rapid and responsive basic workstation for loading internet, e mail, office and photo editing. Boots in seconds, apps load extremely promptly thanks to SSD. No driver issues with Ubuntu ten.04 and will try win7 residence subsequent. Silent and fanless 18W idle ㅏ under load and ӭW standby.

Low-cost.Superb disk drive io chipset supports AHCI/NCQ.Helpful stickers and documentation.Works properly with Ubunutu 10.04 LTS. RealTek gig-e nic is a poor performer. I am an professional at networking and storage. Gig-e maxes out at about 170MB/s bidirectional, and not symmetrical below linux. Examine to NVIDIA ION chipset in Zotac mobos which can achieve near symmetrical line speed of 240MB/s making use of forcedeth driver. RealTek nic does support 9k jumbo frames but you will possibly will need to download the latest driver from RealTek, blacklist the default driver, add it to your os to get anywhere near decent gig-e performance.

low power required. I like the 1000M network. The PCIE slot is excellent for the laptop wireless adapter. I add a different 1000M network adapter on the PCI slot. and it is straightforward to set up a network server on Windows 7. so far, I find a problem. The CPU temperature is too higher, up to 72 degrees centigrade and the CPU core temperature are only 33 to 40. But some time the CPU temp is only 32, and the CPU core temp are around 40.when I turn on the pc, it has 50% to get start on 72 degrees, and the case fan are so aloud. I see the temp in the BIOS setting. I attempt to update the bios to the newest virsion, but it nonetheless happans. I don't know why? may well be the sensor? Usually the CPU temp is higher than the CPU core temp. BUT , it is not on this board.can any one know what is incorrect with this board? the other intel chip close to the CPU but without having the heet sink. I believe is the north bridge, INTEL NM 10. is quite hot. you may burn your finger, if you touch it. why do they place no heat sink on this chip. does it perform coolly, or just my board has this difficulty. any 1 can assist me of this...

Fantastic price tag, superb top quality, does anything I'd want it to do! None that I can consider of I bought this mobo for a Mini ITX FreeNAS server. It's presently running FreeNAS v0.7.2 on a 160GB master, and a 1TB slave with 1GB of DDR2.I can stream videos to my PS3, and run Bit Torrent, and FTP with out a hiccup on this board/CPU. This is fairly great for a passively cooled technique.

Low Price, Low Power Consumption, Small Size, appears to have a robust BIOS setup, loads software from USB port just fine. I just got this board and discovered that it refused to post. No VGA output either. I read other posts that stated RAM was most likely so I swapped with RAM that I had in another machine and it booted OK. The RAM that wouldn't operate was a 1GB stick of Samsung memory, stamped 2Rx8 PC2-4200U-444-12-E3 (M378T2953EZ3-CD5). The memory that I discovered that worked was Crucial 1GB stick 128Mx64DDR2 PC5 PC5300 Speed 667MHZ CLɧ NON-ECC Unbuffered (CT2KIT12864AA667).Was going to RMA but thankfully solved problem. Purchased to attempt out with WHS Vail. Loaded RC0 and seems to operate OK. Just installed and see that I need to install audio driver. Don't see hibernate mode nor sleep mode so will have to do some study after Thanksgiving weekend is over. Loaded Win 7 64 bit Ultimate from thumbdrive just to see if would load although I was downloading WHS Vail RC0. Loaded OK and ran but didn't check it out as I was more interested in checking out WHS Vail.

Incredibly quiet and cool, doesn't draw a lot of energy, and all hardware on the machine is supported below the most up-to-date Linux kernel. I like that assembled with a quiet miniATX provide and a silent WD "green" SATA drive I can't hear the technique operating at all. No 4-pin connector for the traditional Pc speaker hookup, if that matters (is that obsolete now?) Like other people have mentioned on the reviews right here, don't RMA the board also speedily. The LED will light but the board will certainly refuse to power on unless RAM is installed. The BIOS also has UEFI (at least on mine), if you want to allow it.The BIOS also insists that your MBR partition table have at least 1 partition marked active. Use the 'a' command in your Linux distro's fdisk utility at the command line to mark 1 bootable or else the BIOS will not boot your Linux installation at all.I'm also humored that the BIOS settings default to IDE mode (emulating an IDE controller from SATA devices), when AHCI mode is obtainable and the board clealy has no IDE ports at all.The PCI slot performs completely fine with a Linksys PCI ethernet card I had lying around to give this system a second ethernet interface so it could NAT+firewall my cable modem net.

Good notion. When it worked it worked correctly. Newegg walked away from any responsibility soon after 30 days. I realize that, its component of the deal.Intel might have the worst customer service in the world For a tech organization Intel has the least transparent, highest hassle support recognized to man. I've been at getting a replacement for two weeks and still haven't gotten any indication of when that may possibly occur. If your item fails just purchase a new 1. You'll devote far more time and energy messing with Intel than the value of a new board.

Small, affordable, silent. Accepted Ubuntu ten.04 with no fuss. Ran comparatively nicely when it lasted. Immediately after pressing the reset button once the board failed to boot...not after reinstalling Ubuntu, not right after attempting to load a reside CD, nothing. Got to BIOS screen at initially, but following a few far more attempts to boot it wouldn't even get that far. 3 months as a home file server and it crapped out. Disappointing, replacing this unit with an Asus micro ATX and single core AMD chip...for reduce price than this unit. Ugh. Purchased 4ታቦ and died on 7ቨቦ = weaksauce. I'd wait until the Atoms are more mature and therefore far more robust...read the other testimonials, at least three of these have gone stone dead in a matter of days, weeks, or months.

No troubles, low-cost, quiet. no pci-e There were difficulties with the RTL8111D driver when this initial came out Ɩ-9 months ago), but I believe these troubles have been ironed out. Also have a 3com 3c905 ethernet card in there. Compiled and installed a kernel configured for Pentium four instruction set. Watchdog seems to be operating, though haven't had it triggered. 1 unexpected reboot shortly immediately after unplugging USB mouse. Front-panel USB doesn't work for me however.
