Intel boards are often a "safe" pick. Stable and reliable, but generally lack any big extras. For a "home server", this was a ideal choose. Onboard graphics are OK for all but gaming. I haven't tried decoding 1080p with it, but it performs fine with hulu, playon, DVDs and other HTPC applications.Onboard HDMI was a powerful promoting point for me at time of acquire. Note that sound does not come by means of the port, however -- just video. At the time of obtain HDMI on board, or on discreet cards, was uncommon, so this seemed a win. In retrospect, I would possibly purchase a cheaper board and commit ุ for a low finish radeon 4xxx with HDMI and audio support.

Easy to set up. No writtened set up instruction. Just a big paper with images. Comes with a floppy with the Raid drivers. But MB board has no floppy drive interface. What's with that? I have two SATA HDs and two identical "Lite_-on CD/DVD burners. It will boot to,and see, the two HDs but will not see each CD/DVD at the exact same time. Have to unhook one of the CD/DVD,reboot, to be in a position to use at least one CD/DVD drive. All worked collectively on old MB. Could be the CD/DVD problem is mainly because I could not set up RAID/AHCI drivers from the floppy when I did XP set up. It is useing the RAID/AHCI drivers off the XP disk. Will go to the Mfg's web site to see if this can be resolved. Still can't think the drivers are on a floppy when the MB has no floppy interface. Gave it a 3 egg may go up or down after I verify with the Mfg's web site.

Fantastic specs, no legacy cruft, Ideal for media center or DVR FREAKIN ANNOYING high-pitched whine coming from one of the elements on the board when CPU is idle. Naturally this is not an perfect predicament for a DVR. I bought this board to build a new MythTV HD DVR, it performs good other than it's incessant noise that's driving me out of my mind!

This board caught my eye for use in an HTPC. Great with Win XP. I can load Win 7 x64 but the machine fails to boot it. The set up seems to function flawlessly. Nonetheless upon starting the machine post set up, the bios posts but then the board hangs just before the Win 7 splash screen seems. I updated the bios to the latest rev on Intel's web site (I had to load XP to get the machine to a usable state) but to no avail finding 7 x64 to run. I enjoy the digital out & DVI. It appears great hooked up to a 40-inch Sony LCD @ 1366x768.

Strong intel MB with very great integrated RAID.There is an error in Neweggs description. This MB supports up 16 Gig of DDR800. It also supports dual channel making use of only 3 dimms. Ƒ of the 3 must be the size of the two smaller ones. two 1 gig with 1 two gig stick. The integrated graphics are not also terrible. It can play SS2, UT2004, UT3 (reduced settings), New games will play but they will seem sluggish. utilized a number of of these... works fantastic, wonderful Intel driver and bios assistance, on board HDMI with integrated sound, substantial variety of supported CPUs, good bang for the buck none somebody reported that sound does not come over HDMI on this board... that is incorrect , this item does have higher excellent sound more than HDMI, you just gotta be confident to select the appropriate output device..also as simple construct 101: flash the bios then verify ram settings and voltage just before something else... 99% of supposed DOAs get fixed by these two uncomplicated actions with any motherboard

Good for a HTPC, which is what this board was created for seriously-but if I had been to design and style a HTPC I would get a mini w/ an atom processor to throw in it, not micro..I am employing this board for personal computing, for operate as I'm a field technician and often work from residence, and of course leisure. It's sporting 8gb ram, a core2quad q6600 @ two.40ghz with an ATI Radeon HD 4850bios supported my logitech g11 and my logitech x500 through a trendnet KVM switch with no difficulties-but for whatever explanation windows didn't install drivers for the kb and mouse correct away, so I did have to plug them in without having the KVM switch (this commonly doesn't occur, but the mobo certainly isn't to blame) The only con I actually ran into was that the 4 pin on the mobo isn't in the best spot, I created the mistake of placing my heatsink on ahead of plugging in the PSU, and my heatsink covered the four pin to exactly where I had to get rid of it, not quite exciting with LGA 775 boards as you want to completely get rid of the mobo from the tower in order to take the heatsink off or install it. Does what it need to, this is one particular of the best 4 slot ddr2 LGA 775 boards you can come across these days.

Lots of good attributes, runs SSDs in RAID-, Intel assistance and tools. One particular egg off due to the incredibly extended POST! Windows 7 boots more quickly from SSD drive than this mobo POSTs. This is a no-looking-back motherboard: it has no IDE and no VGA.

Small kind issue, quiet, HDMI out, graphics are capable for HD video. Wants an add-in card for today's games, mine failed soon after three months and Intel warranty service is obstinate. The connections for power, led, reset and so on are poorly labeled. There is a large capacitor amongst the memory rows that really should be in a much better place. Intel stock CPU fan connector doesn't take cable management into account. Worked fine for 3 months and then a single day, POOF, it stopped working. Sent it to Intel for warranty service and they claimed the board had Client Induced Damage and refused to honor the warranty (though it was untouched and operating fine just before it failed). Was hoping to make the program and not have to be concerned about it any a lot more, but the motherboard failure has price me lots of time dismantling and waiting for intel's response.

Very good "all-in-a single" board with most anything you'd need on it for a basic or HTPC technique. Not too a lot to tinker with out of the box. I don't care for the SATA connector placements (in my smaller mATX case, they were blocked by the HD fan). Had to ship to board back initially due to problem with on-board audio. NewEgg speedily RMA'd the board and shipped a new one. I'd purchase the board once again for a basic machine that has anything "built-in".

Although 775 it is modernized on most of the peripherals and attributes that matter to me. (Such as PCI e2.) I just hope it can deal with a Higher-end Graphic card.Gave my E6750 a new lease on life. I hope. (since I had to take away it from the RMA) If all the unnesessary handling damaged my 6750 I'll take all this optimistic junk back.. I never like to doc stars for a painfree RMA. But shipping stuff back is not painfree, and I wasted the heatsink material on my Arctic Freezer 7 Pro taking it all apart..Nor did I anticipate error codes from INTEL hardware that would call for a BIOS reset in hopes of curing. I'm still optimistic.

I use ths board for my HTPC and have had it over a year now.Simplicity: three wires coming from laptop, energy, network, HDMI; that's all.Processes video quick, extremely smooth. I record HD video OTA, no issues.Sound is quite decent. This board did not have any of the BIOS challenges reported, I've carried out all the BIOS updates; of course not all boards are the similar.I do not OC, this is a HTPC only, no gaming.I run Vista 64, it has no difficulties with any of the Intel drivers. The higher pitch whining noise? I've noticed this noise when the computer is in sleep mode and random instances, the onboard sound driver will switch off the HDMI setting to SPDIF, I log off and log back on, noise goes away...Intel driver issue, no repair I know of.Image excellent is not the very best, adjustments can be produced in video driver settings, but still not ideal. Not a con for me, but no legacy ports. That's why I like this board, less ports. Bought board 09񳏈. I'm thinkng about installing a vid card given that they're so cheap now to increase the image.Intel E8400 ProcessorHauppauge 1800 TunerImportant 2 X 2048DDR2 800 PC2 6400Antec PS 650WLogitech Harmony 880Logitech diNovo miniSony Bravia 52" 1080p

In my final post I talked about the pro's.Did I mention the on board sound & HDMI out, awsome After moveing up from a hyper threading p-4 three.4 This board/processor is basically awesome,WHEN IT Works. Now I know why it doesnt and that is sorry when the solution has a 3 year warrenty.make that quite restricted warrenty It worked perfectly for a week then would not post.Immediately after exaustive troubleshooting, and a trip to the EGG they determined that two pins in the lga 775 socket are bent and this is abuse.Warrenty VOID.OK they didnt make or break it so,not their fault.A get in touch with to intel tech support stated the exact same warrenty void. But for ๑+shipping they can repair at their discresion the defective socket.I inspected the defective pins below high power magnifcation and it seems that they broke right after the processor went in.It did work for a week or so then died in the middle of a movie.I assume if I placed the tabed processor in wrong it would have in no way worked, almost certainly causeing more harm than 2 cracked pins.I know from crimping thousands of pin sort of conectors that it is quite effortless to crimp the conector with to considerably stress and it performs(sometimes years) until the crack lastly breaks from heat or stress.Shame on Intel for makeing a บ LGA socket causing a 贄 MB that operates is now trash like the warrenty I went and bought another of the same model Intel MB (Now that I got the 贄 lesson on LGA775 the 1st issue I did is inspect it completely)because I believed if it was receiving replaced I would not be with no a media computer system even though it was gone, and second if this did come about (no replacement) I want a MB that would help my processor, memory Ect. I bought into Intels 1.professonal mission critical reputation 2. 3 year warrenty like their processors. I nonetheless have my 1st P2 233 and it nevertheless performs 15 years later.2 p-3s and two p-4s all built by me and all nevertheless working.Im sold on their processor/chipset ICH5 ,six and now ten.Enjoy the built in southbridge RAID feature.I anticipated a lot more than a week fron their MB.This isnt my 1st Intel MB but soon after 赨+ it could be my last.I have constructed 50+computers for individual&customers and in no way had a difficulty like this.Shame Intel, three year warrenty is no warrenty if it costs me ๠ to repair a 贄 MB

Quite strong function wealthy board with the DVI and HDMI plus allowing up to 256MB for the Video. (Offers 128, 256 or max (not sure what the max is as it is not properly documented)). Board automatically detects principal video if an additional PCIe card is installed even if you do not set it up in the bios choice. Plenty of area and good overall layout. Also 1 of the few boards that supports four - DD2 at the same time as most support either two only or 2 of either DDR2 or DDR3. This was bought to replaced a failing competitors board so we currently had four - 1 GB DDR2 mem. Explanation for losing 1 egg: With the existing BIOS you cannot disable the onboard video. Essentially you can set up a PCIe 16x card and even inform the BIOS that the PCIe 16x add-in card is your main video and set the on board video to 128 yet for some strange purpose the on board video is nevertheless stealing 256 MB of my RAM for anything I am not even utilizing. Searched documentation on Intel's web site and the only mention was to "Disable" the on board video in the BIOS which after looking the BIOS 4 instances with two sets of eyes there is NO Choice to disable on board video in any way.Quite annoying in particular as we've installed 4 GB on a 32bit OS and but it takes it only from what Windows is able to address and not the portion it can not address. Program is now running on 256 less MB than it use to on a competitors board. (A little high priced for an older board no longer supported by Intel). Would make a good motherboard for a Multimedia Pc setup to run movies, netflix and other stuff to a Television/LCD/PLASMA screen to.

Has a lot of gadgets. Fantastic stable board as with most Intel stuff. Performs with Microsoft HyperV if you use the appropriate CPU (do your homework to make certain you get the correct match). Basic RAID setup. Lots of USB and SATA connectors for most users. Works effectively with Windows Server 2008(except the incorporated NIC drivers). BIOS desires to be updated correct out of the box. Save oneself the headaches of "trying" to fix it in the BIOS and just download the BIOS update bootable ISO from Intel. SATA connectors are in the bottom corner of the board and is a little rough to get to if your case has things mounted close to them. Would be nice to have Windows 2008 x64 NIC drivers on the incorporated DVD, but not a major deal. All in all a excellent board, just be prepared to update the BIOS as soon as you get anything place together.

- DDR2 800 compatible (able to use memory from my old machine)- HDMI port + the usual assortment of USB/Firewire/Audio- Inbuilt Matrix RAID - No IDE ports. I applied this to replace a failed three year old Intel motherboard (my children had tipped a glass of water over the case). In the old setup I was using Intel Matrix RAID with 3 disks in a mixture of RAID- and RAID-1 configurations. I installed the new motherboard and turned on the RAID mode in the BIOS and it recognized the old RAID setup with no any further prompting! Windows 7 also booted up with out a hitch (had to reactivate it again although). I was expecting some hassle on each fronts and was pleasantly surprised. I dont OC or play other tricks - it is a strong option if you are hunting for a straightforward house Pc build.

Board wasn't DOA. If any card is present in any of the PCI slots this board will disable the on board graphics. This was apparent when I plugged in an empty riser card and only VGA worked. I wish I knew that I had to use a graphics card if I was making use of expansion cards as I was arranging on working with dual PCI Television tuner cards.
