Due to the fact I installed this board with a CORE i5-670 CPU, my Media Center Television image has been rock strong with practically no pixelization and my Ceton InfiniTV four cablecard tuner never ever worked better. I appreciate that it can bitstream HD audio by way of HDMI and the onboard HD graphics will play Blu-Rays. The integrated Intel NIC is also a enormous plus (Realtek NICs are problematic with MC and extenders on a gigabit network). I have gone via numerous unique brands of DIMMs attempting to get this setup to run steady. It reboots consistently. I don't know if it's the CPU, motherboard, memory, PSU, or what. I'm working with the very same Corsair PSU that was in my earlier setup and it worked fine so I'm thinking it's the mobo. I've lost count of how quite a few instances I've reinstalled Windows 7 (both Pro and Ultimate). I've heard quite a few excellent things about this mobo, which is why I bought it. I seriously want I could get it to stabilize. It's been the greatest mobo for a MC setup I've utilized so far. I've got an Intel H55 mobo on the way so I hopefully ought to be able to isolate the faulty hardware.

I purchased this board to use with an i5-650. The board has the H57 chip to let the graphics capabilities of my processor to be used. It appears nicely produced, has the Intel brand name and was a excellent price. I have had temperature problems with the voltage regulator on the board. If you get this board, be confident to download Intel's desktop utilities. It will give you access to these temps so you can know what's going on. The VR temp challenge is apparently not uncommon. An web search will turn up much more on this.My case has two 120mm fans, so it is well ventilated. For a whilst I added a third fan, but it had no impact on the temps and just added noise. What did aid was to replace the Intel processor fan with a Cooler Master Hyper TX3. This brought each the processor temps and the VR temps down drastically. The other challenge I have is that the Intel documentation is not what I had been employed to from other individuals. Intel supplies a pdf installation manual, but it abandons you as soon as you turn on the energy, so you are on you own for items like configuring RAID or BIOS settings. Very good luck locating this on their website. With the aftermarket processor cooler added, the board seems OK for my makes use of. But I wouldn't go this route once more. I'd pay much more and get a board with greater thermal management.

Now shipping with a later BIOS version so it recognized my i3-550 right out of the box. Effortless to mount. five SATA ports and a real serial port on board if you want it (I do). Four USB headers! Runs Ubuntu with out any hiccups. No SATA three, no USB 3, but this a budget board. Slow POST, but this may be remedied by tweaking the BIOS. I haven't had time to do that at the time of this review. I like the layout of this board, and for a price range method with a brand you can trust this board is excellent.I'm employing this board for a Ubuntu multimedia server/workstation in my home. This board is just as stable as my old P4 Intel board.

have not had it running however in order to use this board with I3-550 you will need to up grade the bios with 0537 version. It came with 0368 and now I have to obtain another cpu to spot on the mobo and then do the flash of the bios. Quite undesirable on intels part

Functions properly with no problems When initial powered on three months ago there was an concern - I forget what at this point. Nonetheless updated to the most recent bios which I would have carried out anyway and the concern disappeared Had quite a few Intel motherboards more than the years, constantly trusted with no challenges.

Typical Intel good quality with excellent help. If not for the difficulty beneath, which is crucial in my application, it would be rated 5 stars. Won't preserve sync with external Firewire audio device (Prism Orpheus) above 88.2kHz. On-board Firewire is much worse than TI-chipset PCI Firewire cards. Intel replaced board and problem is also present with replacement. Nice board with i5-650. If you don't require Firewire, the board is fine.

I bought this for a HTPC construct along with a Core i3-530 2.93GHz processor. I wanted the capability to bitstream the audio to my audio processor devoid of any further cards (was employing a HDAV 1.three Slim prior to this build). The BIOS only allows you to bump up the voltage...I wish there was a way to underdrive to additional decrease the 27watt power consumption! My only complaint about this is the signal strength out of the HDMI port. I wired up my office and entertainment room with HDMI keystones in the wall. A 25 foot blue jeans HDMI cable connects the ports and I haven't had a single problem with my old workstation (with the Asus HDAV). I connected this motherboard to the HDMI keystone in the workplace and had dithering or noise on the screen. Fortunately, the HTPC chassis was nice adequate to place it underneath the television subsequent to the a/v processor so I don't have to run such a long cable. But I'm positive there are other individuals who may possibly have a diverse thought of setup and would like to know this.

- solid board- good bios help with frequent updates- lots of integration- excellent HTPC item - none... worked best I continually see testimonials by supposedly 5 star tech knowledge individuals who trash motherboards .... with Intel I've got a lot of knowledge with the item and I would be willing to bet it is practically generally pilot error... simple motherboard 101:- often flash the newest BIOS just before you do something- generally enter bios and verify that SPD settings had been applied correctly... manually check every RAM setting which include voltage, this will fix 99.9% of boot difficulties-if you do those two items you will save your self a lot of trouble and embarrassment at writing poor reviews / giving up on wonderful goods.

I installed this board in a Lian Li Pc-V351B case, and it was a great match. It's being employed as a VMWare ESXi 4 server running 2 linux VMs and 1 Windows 2008 R2 server VM. Wish it had one particular much more case fan header.

Great layout, clear and precise mobo manual, newegg quickly shipping as usual. Built an HTPC w/ this poor boy and it's kickin' u know what (aside w/ troubles w/ iMon IR receiver and my harmony remote). The only con would be that this shipped without the on board battery. I don't know why but I didn't want to go via the hassle of RMA-ing it. I just purchased a battery. Fantastic board so far. I get HD sound and Video by way of HDMI utilizing built-in hdmi (my tv only does 720p so...)

Modest form element, function packed Unstable. Randomly powers off for no apparent reason. Happens in MEMTEST as well as in Windows 7. Related to a previous post right here. Purchased (seemingly) compatible Kingston memory for it, should be a no-brainer. If it shuts off in MEMTEST in DOS, how can 1 determine if the RAM is poor or the mobo is poor? I have no other memory to test with... Should have been a no-brainer uncomplicated installation. Not willing to purchase yet another one of the same model...

I purchased this motherboard in conjunction with an Intel I3-540, 16GB of GSkill DDR3 1333 memory (F3-10666CL9D-8GBRL), and an Intel 1000 CT NIC (EXPI9301CTBLK). I am running every little thing stock, and the system has been particularly reliable and working fantastic. I was incredibly pleased with this motherboard in this application. I am at present operating more than 7 active VMs on this setup as my development environment. I have not knowledgeable any problems yet. On-board Ethernet is not recognized by ESXi. This is no fault of Intel although, and is the reason why I purchased the CT adapter. I have also employed this motherboard in a HTPC with an I3-530. Both systems have performed wonderful and I am quite happy with them.

Intel Brand. Extremely stable: no difficulties with RAM (Kingston 4gb DDR3 1333). Choice to go with Intel based on building a dependable Windows Home Server.Low power consumption. Undoubtedly not an overclocking board. I own the Rampage II Gene and its in a league of its own. Minor changes can be made to BCLK, voltage adjustments for mem, and so on. If you need to have a board for reliable, stable motherboard, and have no need to overclock, this need to be on your list.I have noticed a lot of individuals giving bad reviews for the H55/H57 mobos. Individuals! YOU Will need A GRAPHICS BASED CPU IN ORDER TO USE THE ONBOARD VIDEO PORTS!!Do some research for petes sake...

Nice capabilities for HTPC, low power consumption. Shipping BIOS is not compatible with some CPUs, including the 1 I bought (i3-550). The board will not POST at all and a conventional BIOS reprogramming is not doable. Nonetheless NOTE: there is a BIOS recovery method involving copying a .bio file to a USB stick, attaching that to the motherboard, removing a jumper, and powering the board on for several minutes although it updates the BIOS. It's not challenging, but it's not apparent either. Intel's site has details on the process.

Intel - very regular and supported.DVI, HDMI, digital audio, plenty of USB, eSata. You could argue there's more affordable... but this is Intel and it's a quite safe investment.Could boot through POST faster. Great standard Intel board. The reality that it's utilizing the ALC889 audio chipset and Intel NIC controllers makes it extremely compatible with a bunch of linux distros like Darwin. It's basic, reliable and decently priced. It performed really decently in a server environment.
