Little, cheap, DDR3 ram. Does the job for me just fine, with one particular exception. Doesn't appear to help virtualization. I put Ubuntu 9.ten on this machine and it runs fine even with only 1 gig ram (I'll be adding more quickly). Regrettably, it doesn't look to have a way to turn on virtualization help so operating XP in a VirtualBox doesn't operate really properly. The low ram could be affecting it as well. It will be exciting to see how it performs with additional ram.

Good excellent motherboard with a nice layout. Doesn't have a floppy controller. Absolutely nothing to shed an egg more than (floppy's need to die!) but it could nevertheless be a con for some. Most motherboards these days do not (and should not) have a floppy controller. I deployed 1 of these for a customer who really nevertheless necessary a floppy drive. We ordered a USB external and that worked fine.

effortless to install. use Important 4GB ƒ x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600). No one particular problem so far. But Lan has some problem to set appropriate speed and link. Don't know why. A lot of testimonials stated the board P55 does not like vital memory. But so far it is fine to me.

Largely functions with Debian Linux (Lenny) out of the box. Sound performs fine. Not 100% compatible with Debian Lenny but close adequate for me. Did a network install with Debian. Network card was not detected throughout install so I place in a 2nd card to get the OS installed. Then did a dist-upgrade to unstable. On-board card was detected so I removed the 2nd NIC and configured networking on the on-board NIC. Operates well.

This is a solidly-constructed, no-frills board and it functions best. I installed an i5 cpu, two sticks of g.ability memory, a video card, and anything worked on initial energy-up. I installed 64-bit Windows 7 in a measly ten minutes from a flash stick, then updated the bios by means of windows - painless! The only driver that necessary to be installed was the gigabit network port. The places of all the ports and slots are wonderful. I had no challenge plugging in and routing any cables.I'll be acquiring 1 or two a lot more of these boards this year! none

Very efficient board, no frills but significantly less to go wrong. Adore the BIOS flash from Windows. Ultra rapid post + Windows 7 launch BIOS that ships with the board demands to be updated to get the NIC to stay connected in Windows 7 (Minor). No optical audio out. No PS2 style keyboard out. Poorly written guidelines for a handful of of the driver updates obtainable from the Intel internet site. Most documentation was extremely very good nonetheless.

The CPU integrated memory controller is so great. I have a dual quad-core Xeon computer with 8gb 1333mhz FB-DIMMs and this MB operating an i5 750 with 8GB 1333mhz DDR3. Which do you consider wins? The i5. It's quicker than 8 cores of the earlier Core two series (at folding@home) cpu completion occasions. Seems more than priced for a motherboard requiring no northbridge. Intel integrating MB components into the CPU is genius. Hopefully a GPU will be subsequent.

Affordable no-frills 1156 board. Some might complain that it does not have PS2 ports or assistance IDE devices, but these are dead technologies at this point and there's genuinely no need to include things like them. It's a little tight to function with. I have to get rid of my graphics card (Gigabyte GTX 260) in order to add/remove RAM, and the card blocks a single of the PCI Express slots, but thankfully that's not anything I'll will need. I also had to move my challenging drive and optical drive from SATA and 1 to SATA two and 3 in order to install the card. This could be due to the fact that the GTX 260 is the biggest graphics card I've ever noticed even though. Opt for YOUR RAM WISELY!I originally installed 8GB Ɣ x 2GB) of Crucial 1333 in this board and kept obtaining intermittent rebooting difficulties. Other folks have reported related concerns with Vital RAM being employed in motherboards with the P55 chipset.Kingston is the only brand certified for this board so far by Intel. I swapped the Vital for comparable ValueRAM and have not had any rebooting concerns considering that.

Excellent valueexcellent layout no sliships with genuinely old BIOS I'm running ubuntu ten.ten with this. It has onboard networking which wouldn't perform immediately after every cold boot. Turned out to be a truly old BIOS, so if you buy this, don\'t forget to flash your bios to the most current version.

Low-cost (I guess its inexpensive compared to some other people). No legacy help, which I favor with a new technique. Layout works well with my components such as my Radeon 5850 (somewhat big card). Tried to flash with the most current BIOS from Intel -- it failed. When the system tries to shut down the Computer right after automatic BIOS update it just hangs and does not shut down in a timely manner. Sooner or later my Computer shutdown after 20 minutes and booted -- but with an error on POST -- hasn't triggered any issues but I'm going to wait a small bit to try it again...I too have an challenge on my Window 7 64bit with the ethernet controller. All drivers function nicely except for that one particular -- says I'm missing the driver. Was hoping the BIOS flash I attempted would repair it. There is also a download for the LAN controller on Intel's driver page. I'll attempt that very first. I run a i7 860 and Kingston value RAM. I have not been into BIOS however to do any overclocking and I'm not certain if I even will. My setup is far adequate for anything I throw at it.The LAN controller driver/BIOS update fail doesn't bother me too much, seeing as I use a Wireless USB dongle. Other than that the process has been running stable for a week now.

Excellent Price tag, firewire, plenty of usb ports. None of the old stuff of Integrated Graphics on mATX aspect and floppy drive or IDE Connectors( Hate these so substantially). Even the OCZ GOLD RAM doesn't operate with this board. Had Blue screen of death on XP, Vista, and 7. Even updated the BIOS. Ended up finding Kingston as advised. No SLI( purchase a greater board for gaming). Just 1 PCI slot. Utilised for my wirless card. Couldn't use my pci television tuner card, utilised usb rather. Had a Coolermaster midtower case with 450w power provide and Gigabyte 8800gt sitting around. Decided to pair it with this board and i7 860 cpu. Incredibly enerygy productive. Will use it as a media center. Was suprised to see this board worked nicely with OS X 86( Very good Hackintosh board).

fantastic standard board couple of i/o selections It's a very good board if you're looking at a standard set-up. Even so, you may well want to look at a thing with a bit more i/o choices. There are less costly boards that present far better choices than this. But this is a excellent board if you're not searching for usb three (wish i had thought of that prior to i bought this) or lots of i/o choices. Fit ok inside my aerocool M40 but the i/o panel want some operate to get the usbs to connect correctly.

Carries the great stable board title that I anticipate from every Intel 'average' user board. Low-cost and Intel. PLEASE UPDATE YOUR DRIVERS IF YOU HAVE THIS BOARD!!As other individuals have said, there are driver issues with the shipped DVD, but they appear to be fixed now. The LAN drivers that came with the board would transfer at a thoughts boggling 1 Mb/s. Updating to the latest version on Intels web page restored my transfer speeds to complete (𞲨 Mb/s).

Nice board layout, a lot of area for everything.Colored case/jumper hookups make factors ALOT less complicated.Stable operation. Heatsinks on all chipsets (NB/SB)Integrated HD Audio SATA ports positioned appropriate underneath video card slot. Nothing especially standout about this motherboard. It gets the job accomplished, that's about it. No frills.BIOS is easy and clean. I didn't see any overclocking possibilities, but I commonly run my memory and cpu stock anyways.

No frills board gets the job done. very stable with the latest bios update.Incredibly straightforward bios updating thru the use of a usb flash drive rocks .This is my first core i5 board and my 1st intel board buy. you might say that other brands have this or that but i wanted a stable board that operates great and i got it. this board is wonderful. Its constructed really solid and dose its job perfectly. board temps are room temp cpu below total load 40c idle is room temp Properly it dosent help i5 32nm chips without a bios flash but here is the good news. Dont worry about compatibility difficulties if your working with a i5 there is a quite straightforward way to update the bios using a flash drive that will even operate with an unsupported i5 processor. this is the initially time i have ever got a board that permitted me to flash it even with a unsupported processor way to go intel woot! now see it wasent actually a gripe was it lol dp55wb operating an i5 650 with a coolermaster elite 341 case. Core temps at complete load are 40.c below standard load the core and motherboard run at space temp.
