Very quiet operation. Informative front display. Easily replaceable batteries. Easy direct monitoring by my Network Access Storage device ReadyNas NVplus. I expect many years of dependable service, after going through other brands which cost less.

Previous reviewer gives this a punishingly low 2 rating because it doesn't work with active power supplies that are in some of the newer computers -- I'm sorry, but I believe that isn't fair to this piece of equipment -- for the vast majority of items you want to protect, this is the best protection and piece of mind you can buy. APC is an industry leader. Their stuff works, period. You just have to know a little more about your power supply BEFORE making this purchase. I will say they could make that more clear in the descriptive write-up on the product, so I understand the disappointment in the earlier posting. Buy this unit -- you will not regret it!

does not work with active pfc power supplies. Beware. If you have an active pfc power supply in your computer it will reject the power from this unit and the other similiar units.

Cons: Really quite heavy, gets super hot in the summer.

Pros: Provides long battery life and stable power, perfect for a workstation or server.

Bought one of these for a server that I have at my house. Get around 53 minutes with 16% load (138W). Perfect for keeping my server online while there is a brief power failure. I would highly recommend purchasing APC as they work nicely with NUT (Network UPS Tools) on Linux, which is how I am using this device. Will probably purchase another one of these when my trust APC 1300VA kicks the bucket.

APC makes solid UPS units, though deciding which one to get is tough because of the wide range of models and features. I went with this one because of favorable reviews in most places, and also because we have many in-house, and these have performed very well in power failures and dropouts. Setup is simple and the directions are clear. The display is helpful, but the best thing is that once it's in place, it just works. The reviews are correct: This is about the best you can do for a smaller UPS.

This replaced a smaller, older UPS, and has worked perfectly since it was installed. No delays, with all equipment running it's at 20% usage. With a Dell XPS 630x/700w PP & SLI graphics, 20" Monitor, flatbed scanner, Printer and internet equipment, that's not much of a draw at all. I'm very happy with this upgrade.

Pros : Adequate Power, Easy To Setup, Long Lasting Power, Reliable Performance, Quiet Operation Cons : Large Footprint Best Uses : High-End Equipment.... Can't say anything negative about a product that performs in a way that exceeded my expectations! Does everything that APC claims it will do. My only advice would be to make sure that you calibrate the battery. I used this product for about a week and was getting 15 minutes runtime. After a single calibration, I am now getting 23 minutes runtime!!! Calibration really made a difference for me.

I'm not surprised that after 3 years price dropped by only $30. This UPS is very reliable, saved me a bunch of times. I could play World of WarCraft on a stormy night without worrying that the power will go out and I will die =)

I have owned this UPS for a few years now and it is still running in top shape. Batteries still good and never a problem. I have mine hooked up to all my computer electronics. I have a Quad Core Q6600 Intel, 4 GB RAM, THREE Hard drives, a 1000w Antec power supply and a NvIdia 8800 GTX 768 mb video card! A 22'' Samsung LCD, Epson Photo Stylus Printer, a 2.1 Logitech Sound system all hooked up to the same UPS. What this means is my computer draws ALOT of power, alot more then your average user, with a DELL or HP desktop. That being said it says it will run for 20 minutes on the battery, this is unheard of!! The specs say it will only run for about 16 and according to Powerchute (the prograqm it came with) and the LCD display its only running at about 1/3 of its capability, so realistically you could hook 3 of this same system and still have a functional UPS! WOW... It still amazes me!

Not cheap but worth it. I've had 50 ''events'' in the time i've had it (about 4 months) and I live in a apartment building with (supposedly) backup power and surge protection built in! Only negative is the software is kinda shitty and doesn't give you much info. Also, there's no way to use this with the Pro software that APC makes (which is the one with all the useful tools like email notification etc)

I have a similar unit an xs1500lcd, it's the same for all practical reasons. It's saved my system from numerouse outtages and other power issues. I give apc 5 stars they are known to be one of the best if not the best backup units on the market.

I've had it for over a year. It's come into action on several occasions and never let me down. Keeps power steady and clean and lets you know if anything happened through the LCD. There really isn't much to say about this thing. After all it's an APC. they just work.
