The idea is great. I loved getting in a position to plug in any hard-drive type with one adapter. It fried drives. It fried a drive, then I believed it was the energy adapter, so I trashed the power adapter and started using the computer's psu.Well, I have fried two a lot more sata drives because then with this piece of trash. Bye bye data. And no I didn't have the molex upside down. You'd have to push really challenging to put the molex connector upside down, you'd be a full idiot if you fried a drive like that.

If it worked, it would allow enclosureless drive adaptation to USB.Low-cost. In all senses of the word. Initial impressions: Power cord is too short, USB cord is as well short and attached to the drive, rather than connecting by way of mini/micro USB. Challenging drive connections are not supported, which can bring about breakage.Experiences: Fried 3 tough drives: one 2.5" SATA, and two 3.5" SATA. Study the warnings about the power surge that occurs following plugging the device in to power, so I constantly plugged it in to the energy very first. Nevertheless, it nevertheless fried 3 really hard drives due to poor power management. All 3 drives had a burning-hot spot suitable where the SATA power port is.Other people right here and on other web-sites have reported that the power provide will fry as properly, causing burns and attainable fire. Find a better solution. You don't even get what you spend for with this poorly-manufactured piece of junk.

I use this item on a each day basis to clean Client's personal computer difficult drives of viruses and spy-ware, connects to all sorts of challenging drives the case is a tiny flimsy, I set a laptop on leading of it by accident and it cracked, but the thing nevertheless operates so no eggs lost on that. MAKE Sure TO PLUG THE Power CORD INTO THE challenging drive just before plugging it into the power outlet, otherwise you risk frying difficult drive(never happened with this unit, but I've had it come about) Also plug in the energy before plugging in the USB (unless it's an IDE laptop challenging drive then there's no power necessary) otherwise the computer won't recognize them half the time.

Mounts and reads/writes to every working hard-drive I threw at it. There was one hdd that had corrupted about five years ago with a lot of stuff that I missed, and was in a position to mount it and use Recuva to get a excellent amount of it back!Windows 7 automatically detects the drives and shows them as a hdd device. I generally had to manually assign a drive letter, but that doesn't bother me. The order of which to plug in usb, information cable and power can be confusing at times. I haven't carried out it incorrect yet, but it needs more consideration than most usb devices, and you run the threat of destroying the hdd if you don't spend focus. Purchased this to get some information off old challenging drives, and this adapter achieved the activity with ease. I propose it very!

Compact, LEDs for connectivity Usb cable also short, cheap plastic casing/interfaces I used this adapter on multiple SATA I and IDE drives, with no challenges and fantastic transfer rates. On the 29th day of it's life, the energy adapter stopped functioning. Newegg's return system was outstanding and quick.

It works, simple as that Know its limitations just before you use it. Your pc may well not recognize it when plugged in, it may also take many minutes for your computer system to show that it recognizes it and it pops up in your taskbar. If you plug in a challenging drive full of images or music or videos, it may possibly a while to read all the files and folders and have the "autoplay" notification pop up. Be Incredibly cautious on the sequence of ho you plug in the energy to the wall, the energy to the device, the USB cable to the the device and the USB cable to the pc. If you screw this up, nothing may occur, our you might fry the Tough drive and/or the Adapter. This is my third a single, first one was only USB 1. compatible and final one was physically destroyed by youngsters. Each worked good.

Worked like a charm when I figured it out. Followed all of the evaluations as to the hookup, but the first 3 HDDs would not be recognized as I missed 1 step: The Energy Cord goes to the HDD NOT the drivemate! Don\'t forget to hook up power and cable, and listen for HDD to energy up, then hook up USB, then it requires about 20-30 sec to be recognized. Guidelines are horrible and no support, other than these critiques. I have recovered data off an old 10G drive that I very first had starting out in 1998! WOW Newegg rocks! Ordered it on Sunday, and was right here by Friday.

I have bought multiple kinds of these adapters and this is to be the most reputable a single. I like that I can place this in my notebook bag, perform a data recovery on the fly with no getting also considerably perform to do. BE Very Cautious HOW YOU PLUG IN P4 Power CONNECTOR. IF YOU PLUG IT IN Incorrect WAY IT WILL KILL YOUR DRIVE AND ADAPTER. TAKE YOUR TIME AND Appear!!! TIP: plug in power to hdd initially and then plug in usb, wait for drive to spin up, sometimes it requires a minute, also not all drivesƓ.five") look to get sufficient power and do not run, Generally HAVE A BACKUP FOR YOUR BACKUP ADAPTER!

Precisely what I necessary to salvage data off of my laptop immediately after a mobo death. Plus I can also use the nearly new 160gb IDE HDD from it as a storage drive now. The 3.five" and SATA connectors are just icing on the cake. None.

This factor is wonderful. I just completed a project exactly where I had to image one hundred+ challenging drives. Employing Bart I was in a position to fly through the project with ease. The connector is a small flimsy like most have stated. I had to energy up the HD 1st and then plug in the usb to get it to recognize it. Not a biggie as soon as you get the swing of it. I utilised this on mostly IDE drives, so I can't speak to SATA effectively. If you have some old IDEs about and want speedy access, buy this.

Practically nothing Great as far as I’m concerned! I left the Power Pack plugged into the wall outlet as I do with mostEnergy Transformers, but No Drive Was Connected To This Thing!I came property right now and smelled anything burning, and lastly traced it to the Energy Pack, the complete side of it was melted, and there was even a hole in the plastic exactly where the heat burnt through. I will by no means trust this firm for components once more! They are quite lucky that it didn’t catch my office on fire, or there would have been HELL To Spend!

I can only consider of the truth that it tiny and portable for those who worth mobility and size. I bought this item about 8 months ago and it only worked when. To be honest I thought I was carrying out something wrong at first so I consulted a co-worker who also performs in the IT sector. The consensus was that it was a piece of junk. It just doesn't recognize ANY Hard Drive I attach to it. The energy light turns green but that is irrelevant since it did not detect anything. As an IT skilled I propose you do not take the risk. More headaches in the extended run.

It was nice although it worked. Trouble is that I only utilized it 2 or three occasions prior to it quit. When it quits working it smokes anything that you plug it in to without any warning. I may well look at yet another brand and see what rating they have. I took the unit apart and discovered a piece of solder that was bridging the 5 volt lead with an additional foil strip on the card. I am not brave sufficient to plug it into an additional SATA drive to test it out, but it causes me to consider that their good quality handle isn't all that great.

It can connect to SATA/IDE/Laptop really hard drives. Comes with external energy adapter. It wouldn't recognize any drives I plugged into it. I took the external energy adapter and connected it to my similiar adapter that the power adapter fried out on and it recognized the drive right away and let me access the information. I can't advise this solution. It looks nifty, but doesn't work all that effectively. I'll continue making use of the external Molex adapter and my old usb to IDE/SATA/laptop adapter.

This issue has helped me recover information from a great deal more drives than I can count. I use it for work and for my at house home business weekly, and it in no way fails me. Doesn't make me waffles. I have tried a couple of devices like this one, but absolutely nothing comes close in terms of reliability, ease of use, and portability. I very advise it.

Does what it claims to do. I've utilized it various instances in the past couple of days just to clone some old 2.5" IDE drives. I like that it has SATA as well. I've noticed one more model with mini SATA and micro SATA, but I like standard SATA and IDE superior given that additional drives use them.Power provide isn't permanently connected. It comes with laughable instructions. No, genuinely, I laughed so tricky. 1st of all, they give you info that you don't need to have (don't plug the connector in upside-down...DUH!) and they don't give you any of the details that you want (i.e. which drives to use the power provide for and which to run off of USB). If you're not genuinely skilled with computers, don't use this due to the fact you may be confused why USB wont power your 2TB desktop drive. The "instructions" are basically a warning. They state: "if plug-in the connect incorrect, may well trigger damaged" and it begs the query: damaged what, or did you mean harm? Also, shouldn't it be the connector? This is just a single sentence of the warning. Most of them have fundamental grammatical mistakes that they could avoid if they hired somebody who speaks English as a primary language. As previously talked about, don't plug the power in after you connect the drive. Poor points might take place. If you're working with 2.5" drives, then you don't require to plug in the exernal power adapter (some of us think this is a no-brainer, but to the less tech savvy I like to see some instructions).I like that the power provide is a mollex cable. If you will need it for a 3.5" IDE drive, then plug it into the drive. If you need to have it for a 3.5" SATA drive, plug it into the connector unit. If you are plugging a 2.five" drive in, don't bother working with it because it can get enough power from USB.Lastly, it will only accept a drive up to 2TB, which doesn't seem like a difficulty these days or probably this year...but in three years, this will be out-of-date and require a newer model...but you can generally get a SATA only model in a few years and maintain this for IDE. You'll under no circumstances see a 3TB IDE drive anyway. Its fantastic. It performs for its purpose quite properly. It just could use a few improvements.

Destroys Drives, so Data is unrecoverable.Soon after about a year and 25+ makes use of, It destroyed two challenging drives ahead of I discovered it was the device. I owned 2 and have a single that still performs, but will no longer use either. Did controlled test with three different power supplies on functioning one. as quickly as I hooked up the drive killer one particular, the drive was destroyed, this one even smoked ! I won't buy a device that does IDE and SATA . IDE drives need to have the energy plugged in and SATA need non-m detachablepower cord

Works None so far. The energy connector concern ought to not be an problem at all. You can, if you are not paying interest, plug the power in incorrectly. If you do this, please do not list your tech expertise as "High." The cable is meant to be connected one particular-way only, and it is very apparent. Just look at it even though you are connecting and you will not have a difficulty. Also, I did not set up the included drivers/software. So far the only dilemma that I have encountered is that I have to reboot to adjust PATA drives. Not a large deal to me, just FYI. This has not been an issue for SATA.

None! I have owned five of these, and every single a single has provided me troubles. The final one particular, now sitting in the trash can, burned up my backup tough drive, and now is no longer operating. :( This if the 3rd drive we have fried with these poor tiny units. two desktop drives and a single laptop drive. I DO NOT suggest. I don't know how others have rated this so higher. I have even talked with others, who say this factor item Bytec BT-300 is not stable at ideal, and ought to be played with to perform properly.
