The boxed Processor did not include the retaining nuts to secure this socket 771 CPU to the main board. Niether did the Intel main board.

Comment:
I use two of these for a VMware ESX server running 10+ virtual machines. Since Intel VTs extension is on core and the cache size is reasonable the overall response of the virtual machines is excellent. Even when transferring large amount of data to the ESX console OS.The noise level of the Intel supplied fans is acceptable, especially if the machine runs in a dedicated room not in the office. For a desktop I might choose a fan from a company specialized in cooling gear.
