Incredibly fast. Handles AES encryption like it's not even there. I got this since I wanted to start out storing encrypted backups of my films on my household server with no anyone becoming capable to get at them to prove violations of DMCA (I know, what are the chances?). But my dual-core Atom-based server could not deal with the encrypted file transfers properly at all. Wasn't absolutely free. I got this with an H67 mobo to replace my dual-core Atom mini-ITX server, which used 16 watts at idle ࿄ watts total with two 1 TB HDDs in the chassis, 10 watts per HDD). The i5-2500 only draws 16 watts at idle for the entire program (mobo, RAM, CPU, minus HDDs). Add in two 2 TB HDDs and it idles at 36 watts, THE Similar AS THE ATOM-Primarily based System! Wow! And it flies by way of encryption as if it's not there! I hate to waste this CPU on a server, but it's not that expensive. At the time I bought it 20 months ago, my mini-ITX dual-core Atom system expense a lot more than this Sandy Bridge technique. Isn't progress fantastic?

The very first processor I've ever purchased that is just shocking the distinction it produced. Replaced the earlier i5 in my gaming Computer, which was a marginal upgrade more than the original Core series. The distinction is astronomical with Sandy. It shouldn't have the same name.If you do any x86 MP4 conversions, this is to die for price tag/performance. I'm not making use of the new Intel stuff either. None. Just obtain it. I also have an iMac i7 that I adore. The Sandy i5 wow'd me far more than the iMac did. In all probability since the iMac is much more of a laptop part with its thermal controls.Utilizing the stock cooler (yeah child!) and it doesn't go above 39 celsius with Handbrake rocking one hundred% across all four cores. Paired with an EVGA factory overclocked GTX-570, G-Ability RAM, G-Ability SF SSD, WD data drive and Gigabyte P67. Pure bliss.

There's genuinely extremely few complaints. I ordered it throughout the recall so I had a lengthy wait to install it, but after I did I loved it. I never ever get any lag. I installed 2x4GB DDR3 1333 and this machine performs like a beast, unleashed! I actually have no complaints for this. I'm not a heavy gamer but I attempted some games just to see and every thing is seemless. For the price it can't be beat.

NONE got a mean gamer from this cpu and msi and cheap 1x1 gig kingston all purchased right here @ newegg as constantly :) for 300 usd, that is Wonderful BANG for buck, thank you intel for helping the low on money but like to have a exciting as well :) these cpu's are all that and then some, AMD eater, smokes the 1100 6 core they have and it expense much more and uses far more power ECT list goes on lol, wanna but much more these , and prolly will, dont feel twice on these Quads!gained bout close to 40 fps over my old core2quad :)

its a quad core 3.3GHz processor, its quiet good. and as far as i know it dynamically overclocks itself to 3.7GHz. the speed is quiet impressive by my standards. my order came DOA, i utilised esd band, and mat the entire time. There was also no pins bent, so i cant say it was human error. i'm docking an egg lead to i believed that intel pressure tested items like no other ahead of shipping to make confident it worked... guess i was wrong sadly i have to RMA, hopefully when i get replacement it functions amazingly

Extremely quickly, stock heatsink is pretty quiet This model isn't unlocked. If you care about overclocking, make positive you get the 2500K model. That 1 also has slightly greater (but still mediocre) onboard graphics It runs cool, steady, and quiet. I have practically nothing poor to say about this product, other than if you're an overclocker, this is not the chip for you.

It is an incredible leap from my prior CPU, which I purchased utilized about five years ago. It packs around ten instances the computing power although becoming cooler, much more effective, and not substantially far more high priced. It came with a decent fan and heatsink, with thermal compound currently applied. Installation was a breeze. I'm not truly positive what effect the turbo boost has had, if any. A lot of its characteristics are subtle and behind the scenes, but that's why I skipped the unlocked version anyways, so it's just fine how it is. I didn't understand that it came with thermal compound applied (I'm not sure exactly where you'd discover that out quick of downloading the documentation for it), so I now have an additional tube of it. Maybe I'll use it on an aftermarket cooler when it gets hot in the summer.

Fast CPU! incredibly rapid and does what it requirements to. This is also a noticeable upgrade from the preceding i5. Woke up this morning and it did not have breakfast prepared for me. I used this on a H67 make for buddy that had no desire to overclock but necessary a excellent cpu for the lengthy haul. Thats why i chose this and it is slick. But for the gamer with an average know-how that wants a easy and rapid OC i would go with the 2500k and a P67 mobo that has built in OC management tools.

So far, this issue is breezing via almost everything I've got operating on it. I'm running this on a Gigabyte H67A-UD3H-B3 motherboard, and every thing is smooth and stable. Could be a bit less costly, but oh well.

Operating this CPU on Gigabyte H67A-UD3H, with integrated graphics, not overclocked, stock cooler, no gaming. 4 Gigs RAM, two HDs, 1 DVD. Pc utilizes 80 watts at idle, 160 at complete load, compared to 115 and 160 with preceding Core 2 Duo E6600. WEI graphics score five.1; gaming graphics five.eight; CPU idle temps 30 to 34. Runs fine with Seasonic 330 watt PSU. Not truly a con, but I only occasionally discover it is more rapidly than E6600, despite the fact that Passmark CPU score is 6900, compared to 1548 on E6600. I upgraded only due to the fact the prior Pc had about 20,000 hours on it Ɣ years old) and I was starting to be concerned about components failures. Stock cooler quieter and less complicated to mount than expected and I will probably not transform it. I will be exchanging motherboard for identical model when B3 version replacements are on sale.

Ultimately a cause to go with Intel vs. AMD at this price point. Runs cool, extremely quickly, and so forth. 赨 for this kind of overall performance is incredible. Not overclockable. I do not overclock, so this is moot...you already know this going in. NO HYPERTHREADING, which kinda sucks; not worth a 贄 premium for the i7-2600, honestly. "you can overclock". I can also get a four-cylinder Honda to push out 1000HP, but that's skating on thin ice...I run a lot of modeling/simulations, cannot afford the possibility of crashes due to overclocking. It is annoying, though, that Intel is generally charging fanatics an extra ฮ just so they can overclock. Still, Sandy Bridge enables one to place together a sub-躔 system that will be viable for quite a extended time.

nice small processor. Runs facebook, and gmail incredibly nicely. There is practically no lag when running itunes.....60fps all the way. had some troubles with it although attempting to run plants vs zombies. I guess, i was only able to get to level four-two just before it crashed(there goes my chances of playing angry birds!!) Keeps my antec 300 case very cool. I was only able to raid 12 of these together at once :( ....i initially purchased 120 of these, but given that i could only raid 12, my daughter built a playhouse out of them.

Good CPU and a great value. The i5 2500 runs at incredibly low temps at idle and a low loads, as low as 14C typical about 19C. It's a great bargain to make an affordable gaming rig. Cheaper than the 2500k but that doesn't imply anything. You can still overclock greater than you'd ever need to. Coupled with my Biostar TH67+ mobo I get good on board graphics and, contrary to well-liked belief, a lot of overclocking selections. Good CPU, very content. Even though it has cool temps at tiny loads, when I ran prime95 it got incredibly hot, up to 72C, with stock heat sink and fan. You may well contemplate an following marketplace cooler. The i5 2500 Sandy Bridge truly is a fantastic piece of perform. Haven't been able to completely test it, but I will and see how it goes. So far it has produced a fantastic machine.

So incredibly really fast, Sandy Bridge 2500. I don't unlock and overclock. Straight out of the box it was WE cpu 7.6 and eight gigs 4 x two GB G.Ability ECO 1.35 Volt DDR3 at a WE of 7.five. The graphics was 5.two aeros and four.6 gaming. 5.9 with a 7200 RPM Seagate 1TB Barracuda drive. Out of the box, guys, no graphics card. Wish the Heat Sink latched down differently than the plastic screw locks via the mother board. I utilised the DH67CL Intel motherboard, no concerns. It all started up very first try, and I mean first try on BIOS, Windows Load, Driver Loads off the CD that came with Board. Oh is this the Con Section, sorry. Newegg is the most awesome dealer out there. I have spent a ton of dollars with them this year. You can\'t go incorrect right here.

Good overall performance, and even though a bit pricey (compared to say an AMD quad-core), the value (performance/price) is really high. Other than my notes below, this is a great CPU. The stock heatsink and fan are completely horrible (which is unacceptable provided an AM3 proc at 1Ǚ the price packs a decent HS/Fan).The installation course of action is annoying and produces some thing that looks like it may fall out at any time ( I would below no circumstances move the system with the stock HS in spot) . The amount of paste pre-applied is barely enough and if you have to reposition (very most likely) you will have to obtain far more or risk thermal failure. A buddy with an I5-2500k reports that his temps are high even with a great air-flow case (multiple 120mm fans) - that fairly significantly seals the deal for not employing this issue. He is acquiring an aftermarket HS/Fan as properly. If you get this CPU plan on choosing up at least a low-finish 3rd party CPU Fan/HS and some paste (I like AS-five, but whatever) and save yourself a lot of grief. Installation course of action scared the daylights out of me when pushing the retention bar back down. I felt like I was going to snap the MB and/or CPU - it takes a excellent deal of force. They ought to have a warning as it is drastically additional pressure than is traditionally required (say for a ZIF or even a newer AM2/AM3).

This is a beast. Surely a lot faster than my old core two duo 6400. It stays cool with the supplied not-so-very good heatsink, it's fantastic. I use to encode making use of handbrake at 6 fps. I am now at 56 fps... glorious I ought to have study far more cautiously:Core i5 2500 : Intel HD 2000 graphicsCore i5 2500K: Intel HD 3000 graphicsNow, I don't use the integrated graphics for gaming (would be silly to complain) but the 2000 is truly weak, particularly compared to HD 3000.Now, purely from a customer point of view, the thing I really don't get is:Why would you put the good integrated graphics on the overclocked model (K) realizing that if you want to overclock you will need to use a motherboard (P67) that does not support integrated graphics?I have the ASUS P8H67-M PRO.

This approach is a lot quick for me, the average game playing, document writing user. I play some graphics intensive games, which is what I have the discreet GPU for. Used the integrated GPU to install Windows, and I gotta say, the integrated graphics are certainly terrible. Not at all what they're cracked up to be. Not to mention the max resolution is only 1280 x 1024. The entire screen looked a tiny hazy and playing a youtube video place it to real shame. The colors looked poor. Then I place in the graphics cards Ƒgb gddr3) and wow is it beautiful. Great image and dual monitors. I truly don't assume it's worth paying the added $$$ for the "K" version just so you can overclock. If you're seriously gonna overclock a processor this powerful, then you have to worry about adequate cooling, and so forth.
