I bought this to keep in my IT support backpack. I don't have much to say, except that it works as expected and speed are fine for USB2.0.I expected a bit more quality coming from Vantec. The 4pins Molex power to SATA power was defective, so I had to ship everything back to NCIX and wait for a return. The power cable that plugs into the power supply does not sit in properly. It seems that the ground pin is longer than the +/-, so the power cable does not fit properly. It's no big deal, since it usually is temporary when using the device.The power supply is a bit bigger than expected, but it's fine.Overall, I am satisfied. But I would look at alternatives before buying again. |

low cost, operates good, very good good quality none I have used this device quite a few occasions to extract information from really hard drives with OS errors that won’t boot. I am a Systems Administrator ྯ years) this is a good tool to have in your bag of tricks. It functions on SATA and IDE really hard drives and it fits each two.five and 3.5 size drives. There is no software necessary. Just connect the drive to the USB port and you’re accomplished. |

On/Off energy switch works completely. Performs with IDE/Sata/Laptop HDD. Easily connects to the drives as well as the Pc. Recognizes external drive about 7 seconds. I don't have more of them. :)I bought this a bunch of months before the new SATA docking stations came out. The only down fall to this is cabling... it doesn't look as 'neat & clean' as getting a SATA docking station, but I don't thoughts a lot because it works as intended. I had done a lot of research on these types of devices, and was very nervous about getting them considering most of these from other suppliers had incredibly mixed testimonials (breakdowns, failures, etc...) I've been really pleased with this solution. I have utilised it with difficult drives up to 1TB with no issues... I would like to see if it works with greater capacity drives ƒTB and up) |

Operates as advertised. Applied it on a netbook running Ubuntu 10.04 to access a DVD drive. Applied it on a laptop running Windows 7 Premium to read two IDE Drvies. On the Windows machine I got up to 30MB/sec transfer rate utilizing a somewhat recent IDE drive with large files. 1 of the IDE drives had two partitions and they both showed up. None. This unit saved my bacon - it permitted me to recover all my information immediately after my main Computer's motherboard died. There have been comments about the high quality of the connectors and so on. but this unit is not intended for common use. You either use it to recover data from a drive, or you install it inside a desktop case to add yet another drive to your technique. There have also been comments about burning out drives. I tested the energy connector voltages prior to utilizing it the very first time and they checked out fine. There is also a modest instruction sheet that explains the order you connect and energy-up the unit. I followed that and didn't have any troubles. |

The device is essentially smaller sized than it appears. It shipped in three days, just like UPS assured it would.Other people have claimed that the energy connector can be simply plugged in upside-down, causing catastrophic failure, but I noticed that it only plugs in a single-way and only just. In other words, its a incredibly snug fit when its plugged in the right way. No worries about receiving it confused. |

Item has worked effectively with occasional use for over 3 years. Most not too long ago employed for a Ӱhour backup of 186GB of information. Tiny fits all new and old drives- all cables & CD driver disk was incorporated. Be cautious plugging the ATA connector, you can mis-align the connector with the pins. Yes powering up the drives can be finicky at occasions, just unplug the USB cable from your computer system ahead of powering up. beats mucking about with an external enclosure for 1-off jobs |

It operates how you'd expect it to, plug and play devoid of error. The power switch doesn't operate precisely as I'd like it to, I believe mine may well be slightly broken. It slides from side to side just like many switches do. Even so, if you slide it as far as it goes to the on side, it doesn't essentially go on. I want to have my on switch slightly towards the middle. I purchased this in hopes of connecting a really hard drive externally and it has worked great on anything I have tried it on so far. I've applied it on windows 7, vista and a wii. Excluding the power switch, I have had a fantastic encounter with this device and I advocate it to other people. I'd enjoy to get my hands on ten of these for testing purposes for greater certainty of the solution, but the a single I have operates quite fantastic. It's worth the dollars if you have the require for such a device. |

Simple hookup to any drives I come across. Power switch on the cable is really handy. LED died on the IDE/SATA interface unit, but not a big deal. It can take a while for the Pc to recognize the device, but I don't know if that's the Pc's fault or this thingy. Otherwise, no complaints at all. I've utilized this practically each day for the past year as a Computer tech & it's in no way let me down. Get it!! |

Does every little thing the description says, but it's remarkably beneficial. I've pulled tough drives from computer systems and transferred content back and forth, wiped drives, and even connected a disc drive to a netbook to install an Windows 7. Just for kicks, I tried playing a DVD off of it, and it functions much better than I anticipated (though I would advocate a standard drive for these purposes). Not really a con, but i've in no way heard of the business just before, and I initially had doubts about the excellent. Good, trustworthy product that I will be utilizing for years to come. |

Works as advertised with really little setup. The unit feels solid and effectively-constructed. When employed with two.5" drives, there's no energy connection to be concerned about as the device scavenges power by way of USB. Functions with every single drive I throw at it. The powerbrick has a nice molded molex connector and an on/off switch, which is a nice perk, and it comes with a cute child SATA cable. Occasionally it is picky about regardless of whether to plug in the USB or turn on the power initial, but anytime it doesn't work, it has generally turned out to be the drive. |

employed with a dvd burner good thru put for will ripp a disk at about eight.five Mb/s when used with the supplied power supply and the the pc loses energy to it alone will protect against the laptop from booting and that can be a tiny irritating on a sat night immediately after a few beers and prepared to watch a little anime but all you have to do is turn it off and all be suitable with the world once again a really good solution didn't genuinely think it would preform as properly as it has really good for these of us who have boxes of old ide devices and a single ide channel if any at all in our new personal computer i will buy one more soon so retain them in stock please |

Properly I have utilized it on a laptop drive currently and it performs great. SATA cable is a small quick but you could often just use your personal. If you are nevertheless rocking Windows 98 if comes with a CD for the driver. |

I used this on a older IDE DVD burner and I was able to burn a DVD without any problems so I would call this a success. Haven't tried any other of the formats it supports but if I can burn a DVD using this then I think it is a good value.
