Cons: - A little Noisy when it first starts up (not a problem for me, as its in my server room, so it could sound like a lawnmower for all I care, but it could be annoying if it were on your desk right next to you.)- Toner replacment is extremely expensive, Will cost around $1000 for all 4 toner cartridges.- VERY Heavy printer, I had to get someone to help me carry it, as it was about 70lbs and a bit awkward.
Pros: - Excellent Print Speed (30 ppm Black and Color)- Gigabit Ethernet for fast Network Printing- Great Color Quality- Its Color Ret technology helps prevent color misalignment and/or white borders around text and graphics against a color background.- Seems like a heavy duty printer so far- Replacement toner Cartridges are very high capacity, All 3 colors are 7,000 pages, and black is 10,500.- Comes with 3,000 capacity toners pre-installed in printer.- Handles Card-stock flawlessly (I print a lot of business cards)- Very even glossy printouts |
Overall, For me the amazing print quality and features completely make up for the expensive toner.My previous printer, a Samsung CLP-610ND, To this day I still haven't replaced the color toners that came with it, although the black is down to 8% and each of the colors are less than 20%... I've done about 1600 pages of printing on it over the past... about 2 years (and it had 2500 capacity cartridges in it.) I did some heavy color printing occasionally, and over 2000 business cards among occasional prints for myself, so I wasn't disappointed with what I got out of it...But comparing this HP to my previous Samsung, the image quality is probably 500% better, Crisper graphics, no color calibration/alignment issues at all, better shading, and more toner density. (Up close the Samsung looked like circles of color where there was blending, almost like an old magazine image. The HP blends the toner to create what looks like tiny individual dots, much more like a Inkjet.I know I've only had the printer for 1 day, But I'm so impressed with it I had to post a quick initial review.I printed a test photo too, It came out darker than the Samsung, though had more contrast to it. Great for graphics, but even as a laser printer, it still did a pretty good job with photos.
