Cons: none yet...

Pros: Very easy to use, simple install, cheap
Comment:
WHS2011 is much easier to use than previous versions and is awesome for local and remote filesharing and backups. It "requires" a 160GB+ drive, but with a custom .cfg file can be installed on smaller drives IE: 120GB SSD.

Cons: no Drive Extender like feature bultinno option to download in iso format like windows 7/office 2010

Pros: makes use of 64bit hardware
Comment:
i am using it on a old laptop. so far the install went fine. whish they would have provided an option to register to download an iso copy of it(like office 2010 offers) as trying to make a usb intall drive is trouble some if using basic flash drive that lacks the more expensive controller chipset. havent dont much to it yet aside from loading WSUS onto it which works well aside from client versions of windows like xp home, vista home premium not having a easier method of connecting up to the WSUS server. hope to make use of the other features it provides. at the price its being sold at its worth the price. if it costed more i wouldnt have bought it

Cons: no more drive extender

Pros: cheapeasy to usebased on windows server 2008raid support
Comment:
Got this for $50 to use in a small home server build which is a pretty good value. Easy to use and has some nice features like web access and automatic backups of all computers on the network. No more drive extender support out of the box (there are addons though). Supports RAID. Cannot be installed on drives smaller than 160GB but there are a few simple workarounds.

Cons: Loss of Drive Extender over Version 1 as everybody knows. lol

Pros: Only $60 vs. $100 for Version 1Integrates nicely with Windows 7 Homegroup
Comment:
Been using this for a few weeks now. I actually like it better than version 1. Ya Drive Extender is gone, but there are some add-ins like Drive Bender you can buy that brings some of that functionality back. It works really great with the MyMovies add-in so that your movies and TV get the proper folder covers etc.Hopefully MS doesn't abandon WHS in the future, but they don't seem much interested in promoting it after critics poo-poo'd the loss of Driver Extender which isn't really that bad.

I got this to try out for my new file serverIt installs easily and seems to work fine with 2 GB of RAM.I've tried the access over the web from Microsoft's clients and it works just fine.I still have to try from a smartphone.Overall is easy to use.

Cons: Lack of Drive Extender adds cost because when I build systems for clients, I need to include a raid solution.

Pros: Excellent backup features - really the best backup system available. As good as V1 of the product in almost every way. Lack of Drive Extender means I can now use WHS to host databases such as Simply Accounting and Quicken.
Comment:
Excellent product - lack of drive extender is an annoyance but can be worked around to obtain the excellent backup features this brings.

Cons: none really

Pros: Cheap, effective
Comment:
At just under $60, this software is a steal. Put it on a zotac zbox nano, made a fantastic mini server. Comes in handy for remote storage as well as keeping music and pictures safe. Runs on some of Microsoft's newest server technologies....highly recomended

Cons: steep learning curvefactory OS security settings are very high

Pros: Easy installationLots of cool featuresComplimentary homeserver.com domain provided by microsoft
Comment:
Got this copy of WHS for my home server build. It's a very capable OS with lots of built in features. The automatic network backups and remote management capabilities are great. Microsoft provides a complimentary SERVERNAME.homeserver.com domain for you to use the webUI and it doesn't require a static IP! The learning curve is pretty steep if you want to do anything fancy and, for me, required a lot of online forum reading etcetera to figure it all out. There are lots of 'add-ins' made by the public that can expand on the flexibility of the system as well. If you are building a small home server and want some capable software that pretty much works out of the box I highly suggest WHS 2011.
