Directions for a Mac from Apple pagesYes, the manual is confusing -- but I didn't need it!Written by PG from La Mesa Aug 7, 2010I can't excuse the manual; it's confusing. But I can attest that the printer actually works and can be set up on a secure wireless network without too much hassle. First hurdle: Wireless networking isn't enabled out of the box. Connect your Mac via Ethernet, launch Safari, open the Bonjour section of the Bookmarks window, and there is your printer. Yes, the printer has a web server inbuilt. Second hurdle: the wireless Wizard may not see your network -- even if your network isn't closed (invisible). You need to choose Custom instead. And you may need to type the name of your network instead of choosing it from a list. Third hurdle: The wireless network's operation mode starts as ad-hoc, which means WPA2-Personal isn't available, which is probably what you want. Switch the operation mode to infrastructure and WPA2-Personal becomes available. This operation mode stuff won't seem familiar if you're used to Apple gear, which handles it automagically for you. Once you've done these things, you can switch your Mac to wireless and get the printer to show up in the Print & Fax pane of System Preferences and you're off and running. For me, Snow Leopard had a driver already. And Software update  offered me an update . Nice. My biggest complaint so far is lack of a ColorSync profile. Anyone?

Very good value for the price ($149). Has color, ethernet, and wireless support. Easy to setup. I don't like how if you use standard letter sized paper the paper cassette sticks out.

The best thing about this printer is its wifi capability which was a must for me. I had some issue setting up the wifi on the printer at first, the printer could not find my router because I had set the name of the router to something like " My Wifi Connection " with spaces in the name.. after I changed the name of the wifi connection to " My-wifi-connection " the setup was relatively easy. I wanted to mention this because it might help others, its not mentionned anywhere in the documents that come with the printer, I stumbled accross this fix after 30 min of reading user experiences online.

This is one of the best color laser printers I have ever used. Especially for the low price. Prints fast and high quality. The wireless feature is the best feature on this printer since you can put the printer anywhere in your room.the only weakness I see is the power button is hard to get to on the back of the unit.
