Thermaltake Contac 29 120mm CPU Cooler

I bought this to use on a Phenom II X4 945 and ended up using it on a 965 Black Edition. I installed it using a popular silver based thermal compound. Using OCCT, the cooler kept the max temp on the 945 at 48C and 50C on the 965. IntelBurnTest took the max temp on the 945 to 50C and 52C on the 965. At idle the temp on the 945 was 30C and the 965 was 32C. This is pretty good performance from a cooler that costs only as much as it does. The only reason I gave it a '4' on the quality was that the aluminum fins on the heat pipes are a little flimsy.

I have not tested the temps with this yet...or even installed it. It looks complicated to install, and have fun putting a fan on it without completely damaging the fins. Thermaltake deserves a kick in the *** for making this as poor as they did. The design is great, but its only usefull if they would have used materials to suit the design. Shame shame shame Thermaltake, that is the 3rd new generation product that I bought from you that was built cheaper than cheap. Cutting costs and making affordable products is important...but you seem to have focused more on the cost to yourself than the functionality of the product!
