Cons: Slow write speeds

Pros: Attractive price, no matter what it will be always faster than mechanical drive
Comment:
I was able to lay my hands on this drive previously used, this model is now discontinued. I own other SSD drives and by comparing its performance I can tell that writes are noticeably slower than other drives of mine. Running ATTO benchmarking test reveals why, as the recorded write speeds are about a quarter of the speeds in reads. There are a lot of positive comments from other users of this drive mostly in relation to the low cost and reasonable reliability, well time will tell. I have to agree with one thing however, it beats the conventional/rotating drivehands down. Looks like not a speed demon, but does inoprove the performane of a PC or a laptop for sure.

Pros: Fast, Reliable.

I've had Crucial's 64Gb M4 SSD running in my primary machine for just under 12 months, and I can report a great deal of satisfaction. It brought my old Tablet PC back from the dead; it is now orders of magnitude faster than it was on the old spinner, making everything fly. Best of all, it has proven 100% stable and reliable. That's a very big deal in the SSD world, even today.I've done two firmware upgrades on this device, one at the behest of NCIX. They emailed me directly and provided a video explaining the process. It was quick and easy. So there is excellent support added to an excellent SSD.The one weird downside is that I could hear the SSD whining in a quiet room when it did read/writes. Apparently, this is an issue with not just Crucial's SSD line, but those of all manufacturers. It's pandemic. It seems most people don't notice a thing; Many don't have a hearing response above 14 Khz, where the whine exists, but evidently I do. It was annoying, like having a mosquito in front of me. It was noticeable enough that I thought seriously of reverting back to my old hard drive. The solution turned out to be easy. I wrapped the SSD in three or four layers of paper towel to damp the sound and put it back into the drive bay. Problem solved. Totally silent now. I worried that maybe this would cause over-heating issues, but after 1 year of reliable service, it hasn't been a problem.I would definitely consider buying again from this brand.

Pros: - Works, no problems- Reliable

I have an intel 520 for my system os, but picked up one of these drives to act as a caching drive in the z68 chipset's feature. In benchmarks, it's not the fastest, it's not the cheapest and it doesn't have the coolest name. What it does have is that it does what it's meant to do, be a disk drive that is reliable.

Finally gave in to my secondary PC and gave it a SSD. With an Intel SSD on my main system, Crucial would be a great buy here. While the $/gb is higher on the 64GB units, it was more than I needed and kept the overall price down. Immediate gratification with the performance jump and made my old C2D E6600 feel like new again.Even if you're on a tight budget, put your OS on a SSD. The Crucial unit offers great value over the Intel units, which are considered to be the best. The next best choice for performance and reliability would be Crucial. You won't find a bigger overall performance improvement for about $75.

Got this for a budget comp, 64 gigs is more then enough for windows, and a SSD keeps a computer feeling fast even years later. Bit pricier then I wanted for a 64 gig, was hoping for closer to $1/gig but I understand why its more expensive. Very stable/steady drive, not prone to having issues unlike another SSD maker.

Comment:
I'd go for the 128gb one, this one is a bit overpriced although it's great as an os drive. It feels as if im holding nothing in my hand, this is not meant to be the fastest drive but one with excellent reliability, reviews seem to favor this drive also. 5/5 Great buy, but would wait at a lower price! Bought this in-store.

This little drive is great, not the fastest SSD on the market, not the biggest but at time of purchase this was a great value for what I wanted to use it for!No issues with this drive at all during the last 10 months of use!At its current price, size and Tier, I would not purchase this again, there are better deals out there now days!

Although this SSD has a lower write speed than competing models, it sacrifices this speed in favor of using much less power, which makes it perfect for a laptop.

This is the best option if you can't afford Intel SSD. It's enough for OS (windows 7) and some programs but I use it on my browsing/media PC. Better get the 128GB one if you're going to be installing OS and games on the same SSD

Cons: Only 64gb capacity, but that was an acceptable tradeoff for a boot drive.

Pros: Very fast SATA 6gbps SSD. Amazing improvement in boottimes over a 7200 RPM HDD.

Suffered some minor stability issues, so I went to the Crucial website and downloaded the newest firmware and flashing utility.Extremely easy firmware flashing procedure. The SSD has been pretty solid since, as well as blazingly fast.

Pros: -crucial has great customer service-great for Intel Smart response/ Boot drive
Comment:
This SSD is great little piece of hardware if you can snag it at a discount. I use this in combination with my z68 board for intel smart response and I can clearly see a speed improvement.I would expect this SSD to be a great boot drive; the capacity is the limitation and if you have a lot games, you'd want to invest in a 120+ gb or a 250+ gb SSD.

This is my first experience with an SSD and I did my research before selecting this one.I'm using it as an OS drive (Ubuntu Linux).Wow, I am completely blown away. Just stunned, really. From splash screen to functioning desktop - 5 seconds or less. And this is on a SATA II (3 Gbps) connection.I just ran the Ubuntu "Disk Utility" benchmark and it's obviously saturating the SATA II link:Minimum read rate: 251.9 MB/sMaximum read rate: 269.1 MB/sAverage read rate: 261.9 MB/sThis is consistent across the entire disk, as one would expect. Keep in mind that a 3 Gbps SATA II interface works out to 2.4 Gbps after encoding and overhead, that's roughly 300 MB/s, so this is more or less as good as it gets over SATA II. It would be great to see this thing fly on SATA III. The disk utility also lists average access time as 0.1 ms. This looks a little fishy, certainly it's fast but that's almost impossibly low and much lower than reviews indicate. At any rate, oh yeah, it's FAST!A word of warning to anyone with an Antec Sonata III case like me: choose your 2.5"-3.5" adapter carefully. I chose the OCZ adapter and got burnt. The Sonata mounts drives from the bottom, you have to mount the 3.5" portion from the bottom and then you can mount the 2.5" drive any way the adapter permits. Unfortunately the OCZ adapter mounts the 3.5" portion from the side, this will not work in the Sonata. I fixed it with double-sided Velcro :-P but I would rather have done it properly. Still, the drive is so light and doesn't have any moving parts so Velcro should be perfectly adequate.

Cons: Limited space

Pros: Obviously very fast loading/boot timesFaster write times as wellLess power consumptionGood support (firmware updates)
Comment:
Flashed the SSD with the latest firmware before installing my OS onto it. Having never had an SSD before, I was very pleased with the results, in particular because I was upgrading my laptop hard drive. Boot times are considerably shorter, and I can load Photoshop in a fraction of the time it took me with a conventional hard drive. I chose crucial because, after Intel, they appeared to be the most reliable. So far I have not been disappointed, but I will nonetheless attempt to refrain from any heavy writing activity. The small size is obviously something that takes some getting used to, but the immense speed increase more than makes up for it. So far I am exceptionally happy.

Using as a boot drive, and going from a Single HD setup with a Standard disc style drive to a SSD drive makes a heck of a difference in Speed, the down Size is the size.Windows 7 Has become a Bloated mess, so the 64 gig HD is barely big enough, I prefer to have more than 20 gigs of wiggle room.I recommend the drive, great drive, but if your doing a boot drive, maybe go to a 120 gig to give yourself more headroom

It's a fast drive and after Win 7 64 + utilities there are at least 30 gigabytes free. Of course what I like best about this drive, is that although it required the firmware update, NCIX emailed me, provided a video, detailed instructions, and a FAQ. This service is above and beyond and part of why I recommend shopping here.
