Cons: • It's not "pro" but I doubt anyone would notice.• No desktop bracket.

Pros: • Works well.• Great value for mainstream performance.
Comment:
Installed this in my HAF XB. I'm fortunate that I don't require extra hardware for my case, but I could see that being a problem for some other cases. I used to subscribe to getting "Pro" versions of SSDs (High read AND Write), but to be honest, I can't really tell the difference (I have a Samsung 840 Pro). The most disk intensive thing I do is video editing--I moved my scratch disk to the M500 and couldn't really discern any difference. It's fast enough (for me--I'm not a pro by any means). You'll only see the difference in synthetic benchmarking. Will see how it holds out. The 3-year warranty is a nice-touch.Always keep an eye out for firmware updates c http://www.crucial.com/support/ssd/Tai

Cons: Doesn't benchmark quite as fast as some of its competitors.

Pros: Fast, stable, reliable. Currently, the best bang for your $ SSD at the 240/480 and 960GB sizes.-Has built in capacitors to prevent data loss and corruption in case of power loss (very few SSD's include this, mostly Intel).
Comment:
I have upgraded a couple of systems which had Intel X25-M's or Crucial M4's to M500's, and I'm surprised at the speed increase! The M500 initially only go so-so reviews, but it's a very fast, stable power supply, and great bang for the buck.

Cons: No Bracket Included for cases that can't support 2.5" drivesSlower write speeds than other SSDs

Pros: Price PointReliabilityStorage Size
Comment:
This is a great option if you are looking for a reliable SSD at a very good price point. The fact this drive writes a bit slower than others is made up for by the price difference. For everyday use you won't notice the difference anyways.

Currently running this as my boot drive on my gaming rig. Excellent choice, and also a bargain (got one on a one-day sale at $139,99). Buy it, you won't regret it.

Cons: Would have been nice if they included 2.5 -> 3.5 brackets

Pros: Quick installation
Comment:
Simple drive, simple installation. Up and running in less than 2 minutes. Fully installed fresh copy of Windows 7 in less than 10 minutes.Would have preferred to install the drive in one of my 3.5" bays, as it barely just fits in my 3rd 2.5" vertical mount (due to cabling). Needed a couple of grommets to prevent rattle from nearby exhaust fans.Nice and fast, seems to steadily maintain 500/400 (r/w) speeds as advertised/reviewed, though my platter drives bottleneck the larger file operations. My Crucial M4 is no longer my fastest drive.People just need to remember to switch BIOS to AHCI and ensure that TRIM is enabled if migrating from old Windows installation (fresh install would take care of that anyways).

Pros: - Fast- From a reliable and reputable brand
Comment:
This drive was installed in a seven year old laptop (Core 2 Duo), replacing a 500GB hard drive. The installation went without any hiccups and has worked reliably since. The difference in start up and shutdown time as well as starting up applications are night and day when compared to the previous hard drive. This SSD drive has definitely given new life to an older system.

I selected this for its reputation as a fast, reliable drive with excellent backward compatibility with older systems. I had no trouble setting it up in an older Intel ICH7R SATA2-based system and it has breathed new life into it.

370 Read, 226 Write speeds in Crystal seq. 4 K is slower however. I upgraded from a 120 OCZ vertex. Did not notice much speed difference except from the clean install. I do like that I have more room however.

Pros: Very fast compared to HDD
Comment:
My old boot drive was a 10 year old WD pata drive. It had around 10 GB left of its 80 GB total, which made the time from boot up to being able to use the computer take 5 - 10 mins, which was a pain to wait. Now with this drive it takes around 30 seconds in total. Also noticed that the cold start of applications I've installed in the drive are faster as well, such as chrome. Installation was simple like any drive. Planning on taping it onto my case, since I have no 2.5" slots.Wait time for in-store pickup was horrendous though.

Cons: No adapter for mounting 2.5 inch bays in tower

Pros: Very fast, easy installation and setup, price
Comment:
I decided to move into the SSD side of things for better performance and this SSD blows me away. I did a fresh install of Windows 7 and it took maybe 10 minutes. Of note, make sure to set your BIOS to "AHCI" under the chipset SATA mode BEFORE you install Windows for ever better performance. It installed SP1 and all Windows updates in just over an hour - something that took about three or more with my old HDD. The three year warranty is a nice touch. No complaints so far but I can say for certain that I'm not going back to a traditional hard drive ever again. Also of note for those new to SDD, this is just the SDD, it doesn't come with a S-ATA cord or screws.

Cons: Regular priceFirmware update  procedure won't work from a USB stick for Mac

Pros: FastHigh capacityIncluded 9.5 mm adapter
Comment:
I've been eyeing an SSD to replace my wife's old 120 GB drive in her mid-2007 MacBook. The only thing is, she's running out of space on it so the replacement had to be larger - 240/256 GB would be the logical step up.I've waited for months for 240 GB SSDs to come down below $200 as it seemed unjustifiable to spend that much on a 6-year-old SATA I MacBook. Finally this drive came on sale for $165. Good thing because I wasn't really interested in many of the low-cost brands - I knew the Crucial drives would be widely compatible (no issues with the SATA I connection on the MacBook) and I knew that they were reliable, I've been using an M4 on my Linux machine for nearly two years now. So I was glad to see that it was Crucial's new M500 drive that was on sale.Physical installation was a breeze. The 9.5 mm adapter was a nice inclusion, it prevented the drive being unsupported and potentially putting strain on the connectors. Cloning the old drive and formatting this new one proved to be another matter entirely, but that's hardly the fault of this drive. This drive maxes out the old SATA I connection - writes test at 128 MB/s and reads at 144 MB/s. This is 4-5 times faster than the old mechanical hard drive. The MacBook now boots in about 12 seconds and all the startup programs stop loading about 2 seconds after that.I'm deducting one star for Crucial's Mac-unfriendly firmware updates. I update d the firmware from MU02 to MU03 which addresses a MacBook-specific long shutdown issue I encountered once when I was configuring the drive. I always update  my M4 using a USB stick, it works perfectly on Linux. However I spent a day trying to do this with this drive and reached the conclusion that there is just no way to do this on Mac. I had to burn a CD. I haven't had to burn a CD for a software update  in at least 5 years, I was surprised I had to resort to this. It would have been easy for Crucial to implement, they just had to include EFI boot files like most Linux distros do.Overall though it works perfectly, both of us are very pleased! I picked this up at the surprise sale price of $155. I replaced my Plextor M5S 128GB SSD in my desktop (to move into my laptop). I know the speeds of any 128GB SSD is going to be slower than a 240GB one, but this is markedly faster. Highly recommended.
