I'm using this in a desktop build that will have no other HDD's. Primarily an internet browsing casual computer that may have an occasional game played on it. Boot time is extremely fast. Install of Win 7 was fast and uneventful. I've used a number of different brands of SSD's and this Crucial seems to be as good as any.

I bought this drive after reading several reviews about it. There are faster SSDs but this one seems a good combination of speed AND reliability which was important to me. Am enjoying gaming with it as maps and such load much quicker. I used to have a Velociraptor in my previous PC and this thing blows it away for speed as you would expect from an SSD.I also thought this SSD was one of the better ones in regards to price vs capacity. I would buy this again in a heartbeat.

Cons: * Not the fastest Sata 3 SSD

Pros: * Excellent Value* Highly Touted Reliability
Comment:
This is the 2nd Crucial SSD I've purchased, the first for personal use. I elected for a larger SSD for the advantages it provides in speed, longevity, and useful space. This drive is known to be not quite as fast as some of the other SATA 3 offerings but the cost, especially on sale, was significantly less. Furthermore although the peak transfers speeds might be less the drive is still orders of magnitude faster than any mechanical hard drive. Combined with the fact that my motherboard is only capable of SATA 2 transfer speeds, this class of drive is perfect for my use.It has been exemplary thus far. The best upgrade I have ever put into a computer, ever. Absolutely night and day performance difference.

Pros: Fast, reliable, easy to install and use, frequent firmware updates in case you have any issues.
Comment:
Of the 3 SSDs I own (from 3 different popular makers) this one I almost forgot to write about because I forgot about it. Which is a good thing, it works without a hitch since day 1 when I plugged it in and it has since supported my boot and main games flawlessly. Also the manufacturer is releasing updates to their firmware, though I never needed any updates, the continues support is a nice bonus.I will definitely buy Crucial for my next SSDs.

Cons: Little bit startup issues IF computer shuts down via power outage.

Pros: Very Fast, stable, runs cool, 256 Gb's, good price
Comment:
This is my very 1st purchase of an SSD drive, and to be honest, I really wanted the OCZ Vertex 4, but when I saw this 256 GB drive for only $169.00, it was a no-brainer for my budget and purchase. The drive is INCREDIBLY faster, than my former WD Black drive, and of course runs much cooler. My boot time alone went from shut down to reboot into OS ready to work from 2 minutes more or less to under one minute. Shutdown process used to take quite long, but this drive shuts & reboots SO fast, I was sold on SSD drives immediately after my 1st boot. I had concerns about drive longevity, but I enabled TRIM, and did everything I could to reduce the wear on the drive. My only very minor beef is when there's a power outage in my home, the computer reboots saying NO OS found. Don't know why, but I have to go in the BIOS and tell it to make my SSD drive my boot drive and all is good again. Maybe I should switch my SSD's SATA cable and plug it in SATA 1. AS it is now, I think it's in slot 4. Other than that I WILL HIGHLY recommend this or any SSD drive. I took one star off because I can't claim it's ONE OF THE BEST as I never tried any other name brands otherwise I would have given it 5 stars. OH...and with my system (an older one), I didn't have AHCI setting in my BIOS, so I'm not getting the FASTEST speed out of this drive, as I could but I am still VERY satisfied with it's overall performance & speed. Can't wait till I get a new system to get ALL the speed from this wonderful drive.

Pros: Bought on the 2-day weekend sale; good price
Comment:
Updated with latest firmware and installed SSD in a 2009 MacBook Pro. Very impressive: much, much faster than HDD although it's not using the full SATA3 capability; probably k SATA1. Love the noiseless operating environment, except for the occasional fan kicking in when doing some heavy CPU crunching. Make sure you have all the required screw drivers before opening up the Mac, especially the teenie, teenie slotted blades.

I am in absolute love with this SSD. Love it to death. I went from a SATA2 Vertex 2 120GB to this beauty...didn't think I'd notice much of a difference. I couldn't have been more wrong.Even the boot time has pretty much doubled, and this isn't on a fresh system, and is AFTER using clonezilla to clone from the vertex to this.Stellar.

Cons: -Sandforce is faster with the right workloads.-SSDs still cost allot

Pros: +Fast+Good price on sale+Reliable transfer speeds.
Comment:
I picked up 2 of these(surprise sale!!) for Windows/Programs/Games. I was going to use (R)AID0, but they are more then fast enough alone(And I want to keep TRIM/monitoring support), so one holds larger games while the other holds Windows/Programs and some games as well.Boot times are very good, soo good, I think SSD addiction can be an issue after all. Already looking at converting more systems to SSD + HDD storage systems.Even slower SSDs make a huge difference on a boot drive.

Comment:
Bought this 2 months ago and just opened it yesterday because of issues with my Mushkin Chronos that went south. Of course it's only been 2 days now running it so I haven't much to say other than it works stable. Firmware is 000F and I see this is the latest release so that was a bonus! Atto benchmark reports - Write Speed 276MB/S - Read 539MB/S c Queue Depth 4.

Cons: - Will sometimes (but rarely in my case) hang at start-up. A quick re-boot, then a click through with 'load Windows normally' and you're off the the races. More annoying than anything. Probably a firmware update  in the future might fix that.- not free

Pros: - Inexpensive, especially on sale- Easy to install - Very good performance compared to HDDs, - Perfect for your dedicated OS drive- Reliable 98% of the time
Comment:
Very impressed with this SSD -- which is my first, BTW. After reading all of the horror stories with the non-Marvell based SSDs, decided to take a chance on this baby. Bought it on sale for 216 bucks at the time. Had to remember to change my motherboard's SATA mode to ACHI (sp?) to get it to be recognized, but then installed Windows 7 in less than 10 minutes. All my HDDs showed up no problem.Performance is a bit slow the first few times after you install the OS, probably because the drive is 'learning' what are your most frequently used programs or files, then after that, I normally boot in less than 20 seconds (and it could probably be twice as fast if I found a way to disable the splash screen)This is a perfect size for an OS, with a bit of room to spare. It's great. Aside from the aforementioned rare times where the booting hangs, and requires a reboot, this thing is solid. I can only imagine how better Crucial's newer drives must be. This is already a good model to impove upon.Highly recommended.

Cons: Old firmware version (0009) had a bug where the SSD would cause BSOD's (Crashes - Blue screens of death) after used for ~5000 hours. This is no longer an issue and old drives can be easily flashed to new firmware.

Pros: Super fastsupports SATA3As of mid 2012, it has become quite affordable
Comment:
This is a fantastic, stable, mature solid state drive. It has come a long way since the original firmware - speed has increased, stability has increased. In 2012, this drive, which was formerly very expensive has also become quite affordable (going from about $1.50 per GB to under $1 per GB).I upgraded an Intel 320 series 160GB drive to this (mainly for the increased storage space). Actual real-world speed is similar to the Intel drive, but it's nice having an extra 100GB and SATA3 transfer speeds for large files.
