Cons: interface

Pros: Sound quality
Comment:
The screen is solid but since the D2+ is kind of old he's not as bright as the new oled like the S9. The sound quality is just amazing and don't think there's any better mp3 for that even today 3 years after the release. Any audiophile should buy this mp3 without any fear to have regrets.

Cons: - useless stylus included, better results using my own fingers- had to mess around with the player to read chinese song names while setting display language to English

Pros: - most important, sound quality!- plays lossless file- expandable via SDHC slot upto 32gb (48gb total)- customizable skin and theme- upgradeable firmware- ease of use
Comment:
Overall, very happy with this purchase. 16gb plus 32gb flash based multimedia player (48gb total)for $249 total before tax. Heck of a deal for someone that is buying something more for listening to music and just using it for other stuff occasionally.Sound quality of this thing is amazing after some slight tweaks, and especially when paired with nice headphones. On the go I got some S4s to go with it, and at home, this player drives my Sennheiser HD555 really nicely.Touchscreen feature is love it or hate it, but it is nice to also have the option to actually use some of the tactile buttons for next/prev and play when in the "hold" mode.Only thing that really bother me was how it was designed so that in order to display chinese ID3 tags, you need to set the display language to chinese (simp or trad but you can't see both at same time) ... before you see the tags properly... and when you are in simp chinese mode, you can't see trad and vice versa. Until I played around with customizing the theme then it worked with setting the display language to english and both traditional and simplified chinese characters were display perfectly.Note: if set to display titles by file name and not by ID3 tag, then there is no problems with the display of chinese charactersOverall I would give it 4.5 starts if I could, just because how much i had to go through before I can get my chinese songs to display properly.

Cons: Small screen

Pros: Killer battery.Expandable memoryDurable
Comment:
I've had this mp3 for the longest time now and its still serving me well. I love this machine, haven't come across anything that it can't play. Battery life on this thing literally lasts forever. I find myself charging it like once a month maybe. THe screen is a bit small for watching videos however. Short music vids are okay, but longer movies and stuff you might want to check elsewhere.

Cons: No included AC Adapter, weak flash support, no WiFi/Bluetooth

Pros: Quality, Drag n' Drop, SDHC Slot, Many Features, Battery Life
Comment:
I spent weeks on-line researching a good media player... I really didn't want an iPod and a Touch was too expensive and no expansion. This fit everything I wanted in a player, with some extras. The Flash Utility is great, but seems to have limited support at this time (firmware update?). The sound is amazing, with full EQ support and presets. The build feels strong and solid, yet it is small enough for a shirt pocket. Video and pictures look great. Battery Life is awesome... had to run it 10 hours at nearly full volume to get the battery indicator to drop  one level. It is rumored that Bluetooth will be added via Firmware Update. If there had been an AC Adapter in the kit (like the standard D2), this would get a higher rating. I do highly recommend it though... have tried Creative Zen X-Fi, iTouch, iPod Nano and several other MP3 players... the D2+ is unequaled. This review was modfied by poster @ 08-10-09 10:48 AM

Cons: read summary below

Pros: -Battery life is high-Audio quality is amazing (BBE+ effects have lit up my Sony MDR EX90 earbuds compared to my old 5GB creative muvo2 (2004) player).-Video quality is excellent-Low price especially when on sale compared to competing players-External SDHC slot (potentially 48GBs but smaller than a credit card and WAY cheaper than an ipod touch)-A community on the net supports customization options that can be used with the player (hundreds of skins (themes, etc) are available for download)
Comment:
If your mp3 files or whatever files you have are not properly tagged (ID3, etc), the player might not handle this well. This can lead to a database corruption on the player which can be "solved" by deleting all files and starting from scratch again by re-loading your music. This wouldn't be too big of a deal except the player's TRANSFER speed is HORRID. It transfers music at about 2mb per second. It takes a LONG time to transfer music into this player. The other thing with the DB and transferring files is that it is recommended (by the community) to load only under 2GB of music at a time. Once you have done this, you unplug the player, restart it and let it re-load the DB. Then load another 2GB and turn it off and turn it back on again. This is a pain in the ass.If you do not do this, your player might end up with DB corruption.Nobody knows for sure what causes the DB problems, it's kind of a hit or miss kind of thing. I'm just a little cautious with the player and it is a real pain in the assso yeah, transfer speeds are outrageously low (think usb 1 - my 1.8" muvo2 from 2004 had a faster transfer speed than this player - What gives? I do not know).DB corruption is something to be factored in when buying this player. I don't know that much about competing ipods - just that their features are very simple in most cases, and that they are expensive for what they are as far as hardware goes. Although my player has worked for 99% of the time I have had it, having a DB corruption occur (practically randomly) and having to re-load my music after making sure ALL my music is properly (100%) tagged I have a bit more confidence as well as the fact that the DB corruption ruined my playlists is enough to piss someone off who thought they were purchasing music player player that was all quality. The microphone is phenomenal - you can change the bitrate and the volume to it (quality + volume) - it picks up alot .The touch screen is great - havent had one problem with it - it's a simple interface that is easy to work with (my girlfriend who has an ipod shuffle was using its basic functions within a few minutes of picking it up) - it is also quite bright - although outside it is very difficult to see when the sun is bright (i have ordered some anti-glare lcd protectors for it to counter this effect)does not come with an AC adapter. Cowon used to sell the AC adapter with the first D2s. then they released the D2+ and it did not have an adapter and I don't think people can purchase them anywhere which is a pain in the ass because charging by USB a) does not allow the user to do anything except charge / add files - charging by USB does not allow you to access music and play it. No charging and playing at the same time through USB - PAIN IN THE ASS - why not offer to sell it for $10???? WHY!!!!!!!!?Once you get over all this stuff, you will find that it's a very good player if you treat it right. Not for someone who wants an mp3 player that just goes from day one.Anyway yeah thats about it. pm if any questions and ill try and get back to ya This review was modfied by poster @ 06-20-09 08:25 PM
