Worked properly right out of the box. No dropped connections using the most up-to-date Firmware 1.23NA (Just more than 15 days of Connection Up Time so far). Fairly easy to configure for most issues. Connection speed enhance was *immediately* noticeable! Wireless connection signal strength shows as significantly less than I anticipated, but it hasn't seemed to impact speed or high quality of the connection of devices positioned upstairs, on the other side of the home. Console setup guidelines were a bit vague and to set up our Wii, I had to adhere to the X-Box 360 Guide on the D-Link Assist Forums, and do a tiny bit of study - but that did operate. General, I extremely advise this router.

Good design No simultaneous dual band; unreliable connection; inconsistent connection speed; useless USB port. Have to reset it on normal basis. Tried to share a printer on the USB port and most of the time it would not print. Due to the fact I can\'t return it anymore, I program to replace it.

This router is operating great for me for wired and wireless. I have a mixed bag of computers on my network. Linux, Windows XP and Windows 7. Older laptop with 54G and newer ones with N. Older computers with 100MB Ethernet and newer ones with GB. All are performing properly. Call of Duty four on-line works fantastic according to my son - way much better than my old SMC router. Can\'t make the "Special Apps" operate by opening a firewall port to a particular personal computer on the network but I have not but established it is not my ISP or the DSL Modem but either. The user interface is not as intuitive as other folks I have utilized but it gets the job accomplished.Have not tried the VPN, multicasting or jumbo packets but.

Function-Rich. USB connectivity. Gigabit Switch. Dual-Band Wireless N. Router locks up frequently. Every single firmware update so far has not completely addressed the difficulty. I have moderate to heavy WAN usage, almost certainly 40% is over wireless, and the router locks up about each two weeks and calls for a energy cycle. The problem appears to be that the router is not clearing its sessions at times, and they ultimately accumulate and impact router functionality. Apparently a FIN in a TCP connection is from time to time not enough for this NAT router to tear down a connection, and overlook about timing out abnormally terminated TCP connections. I dont comprehend why D-Hyperlink calls port forwarding "virtual servers". I also wanted to mention that contrary to some other reviews, wired LAN site visitors seems to be stable, and the switch is absolutely great at operating even with big loads (I have personally witnessed an 82 MB/Sec 20GB File transfer more than the integrated switch with no concerns).

Apparently D-Hyperlink is quite conscious of the circumstance now.It has been receiving complaints for a handful of years. They have not solved the difficulty but.And in my opinion, they don't care to.

I upgraded from an old DGL 4300 that lastly died following many years of excellent use. This unit is rapid, uber-configurable, and pretty intuitive, even for dudes like me that aren't extremely network-savvy. Excellent coverage in my household, all the way down to the basement, out to the road, and backyard. The only comment I have is that I have to unplug and reboot this unit every two or three days. For some purpose the functionality begins degrading to the point exactly where it's unusable. The power off and back on fixes it 100% every time, but it's seriously extremely annoying to have to do when I'm up receiving prepared for function at 5AM. Then I have to stumble upstairs, turn on lights, wake everybody up so I can reboot it, and so on. Have heard about a reboot dilemma with this router and wonder if it's connected? They could very easily incorporate a scheduled reboot form rule if this is accurate and it would take care of my only challenge with the unit. I've heard D-Link tech assistance is suspect, but I've by no means had to deal with them. Perhaps they'll study this evaluation and offer you a suggestion?

This router was pretty effortless to set up. I just plugged it in and I was on-line and conected to all my computer systems. Quick, rapid, quickly, the 1 gig speed is good playing TF2. And with that 1 gig my transfer rates are awsome. Not significantly. The usb share port utility is also slow to use for printer networking. It was more rapidly to preserve it connected to my pc and just share it with my other computer systems. The only point that issues me is the amount of heat it generates. I have a pc cabinet that I had my old one in and it did not have any issues in there. But this 1 seems to get hotter than the old one particular, so I may have to move it out of there.

No challenges right after more than a year of use.I never have to reset it like other people I have employed. Price tag is a small steep, but if it stays preforming like this for a couple mores years that will not bother me. Have owned it for over a year now and have had no troubles with it. I do sort of dislike how I can not controller MAC address filtering for wireless and wire connections separately like I could on my preceding router, but it just took a tiny additional setup time to get about that.

The router is rapid as it need to be getting wireless N Gigabit router. The router I revived came with firmware version 1.21NA. Immediately after four for five days the wireless stops working and I have to cycle energy on the router. Lately I've been noticing it messing up on the wired network as effectively. Also I have found that soon after playing with the buttons for the front show for a minute or so the router will crash and restart. I previously owned the DGL-4300 and I actually liked it. The power supply for my DGL-4300 fried on day, soon after replacing it the 4300 in no way worked the similar. I hoped that the DGL-4500 would be as great as the 4300 but its a disappointment.

LOTS of potential. Dual-channel router that delivers good wireless range coverage on both the "G" and "N" bands. Settings are incredibly straightforward and fairly easy to use. Gamefuel Technology is a fantastic packet optimzer technologies that will yield noticeable differences. The router suffers from numerous intermittent challenges. Rather, one issue that seems to come about quite intermittently. I have a hybrid network consisting of wired and wireless devices. My wireless devices consist of two 802.11”N” machines and two 802.11”G” gaming consoles. The router will spontaneously deny a seemingly random device access to the network without warning. Regardless if the device is wired or wireless. There are occasions where the entire router “locks up” and will not allow any traffic in or out. I’ve reloaded the firmware to make certain a clean upgrade, but that didn’t repair the issue. The only way to treat the symptom is to energy cycle the router. Nevertheless, inside a week (sometimes two) the router will have to be energy cycled once again. This isn't a new router - it's been available a although. And to be plauged with this quite a few concerns and Still carry this type of cost tag - somebody in the advertising and marketing division has lost touch with reality. There are far more steady routers accessible now, I'd look at a single of them over this one if a obtain had to be made nowadays.

Cool show, straightforward setup, good capabilities My connection speed seems capped. Comcast says its simply because routers do not function with their powerboast, nonetheless routers have had no problems. The connection speed operates fine on FIOS and other connections with no caps. The shareport utility sucks. I had a printer installed on it, which you should use a networking plan to connect, nonetheless soon after a print, it loses the connection and you have to reinstall the printer. I'm not confident if this is worth the cost. I like the feature and have had couple of problems, but the ones I do are quite frustrating.

If you like headaches, thats the only pro i can assume of Faulty hardware. Dlink blames it on some 3rd celebration chip or one thing.Constant power cycles immediately after dropping connection demands manually pulling out energy cable and placing in, and hoping the subsequent cycle dont recycle again, which 50% of th etime it will.At higher speed connections over 10mbps broadband customers will get frequent drops, modem cant deal with it, which then causes the cycle difficultyFirmware causes additional problems then assists and to my unbelievable eyes, if you upgrade firmware , you cant DOWNgrade, what is firmware for then? DLINK knows this product is alemon and does practically nothing to enable consumers, dont believe me? Google DGL 4500 firmware and ill see ya in a week This item is absolutely nothing but a lemon. If you upgrade the firmware you will destroy this item. There will be no final remedy simply because it seems to be faulty hardware. i cant believe this item is stilll on the marketplace and that this firm has not been sued into oblivion but for promoting it... Only fools will buy this model who dont listen to the unfavorable feedback here, btw, the additional cash your paying for a gaming router imo is a gimmick and just a waste of one hundred bucks, this item does absolutely nothing special to price so substantially a lot more.. BTW, i use wired only, and supposedly wireless men and women have 50 times a lot more the troubles than wired does. meals for believedI CANT Think THIS IS four STARS, proves you can't think feedback, this is LEMON if it was a auto, they'd have to give you a new a single, but you wouldnt even want a new one, becaues the item just is flawed inside..

The new D-Link DGL-4500 Xtreme N Gaming Router is one of the first products from a new and modern family of networking gear from D-Link. This networking hardware has been designed specifically to address some of the issues found today in online gaming; with lag being the most significant of them. The D-Link wireless router enables users to set up a high-performance gaming network that offers the fastest wired and wireless speeds available from a single broadband device. The game-centric user interface of the Gaming Router allows for the configuration of multiple ports or port ranges. Designed with gamers in mind, this extreme gaming router surpasses the high-performance demands of today's video games with the fusion of D-Link GameFuel technologies, Gigabit LAN ports and up to 108Mbps WLAN connectivity, high-performance CPU, and the new Network Activity Display. It?s a great choice for those who want to implement it during LAN gaming sessions.

The D-Link DGL-4500 router from D-Link is a premier, gamer-oriented broadband router that contains powerful technology for quality networking: gigabit Ethernet, draft-N support, and dual band. While all the main buzzwords are there, a few caveats need to be mentioned, particularly the fact that while the router broadcasts in both the 2.4GHz or 5.0GHz spectrums, it can't do both simultaneously. The 5.0GHz is preferred due to decreased interference from devices such as microwaves and cordless phones. However, compatible adapters are rarer and more expensive. In a further attempt to justify the premium price D-Link includes an OLED screen that lets you monitor your network, and make simple configuration changes directly from the router itself.

The D-Link DGL-4500 also features D-Link GameFuel priority technology integrated directly on the router that gives precedence to gaming traffic for the ultimate online gaming experience and other Internet applications. The GameFuel technologies enable superior multitasking to each device on the network to perform heavy data transfers, whether they are FTP, P2P, or transferring large files over the network, without compromising the gaming traffic.

Delivering sophisticated firewall protection, the D-Link wireless router is easily configured through the advanced features section of the product's web-based interface. The router features a high-performance CPU to support an advanced management feature such as Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI). The D-Link wireless router features robust security to protect the wireless network from intruders, supporting the latest wireless networking security standards, including WEP encryption and Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA. It also supports both 802.11g/b/n and WPA-PSK.

Moving around, the DGL-4500 uses three antennas to broadcast and receive its wireless signals giving the end user the ability to upgrade their antennas if they see fit to do so. Additionally, the device has four gigabit Ethernet ports, one WAN port for Internet, a single USB port, a small reset button and the power connection.

The D-Link DGL-4500 Xtreme N Gaming Router brings a lot to the table, including dual-band operation, 802.11n support, and a killer built-in OLED screen, on top of features perfectly suited for online gamers.
