Cons: - None

Pros: - No speed reductions due to power saving features, have seen speeds of about 115 MB/s going from one raid array in my gamer to another in my backup computer.- Stays barely warm to the touch even under heavy use.
Comment:
Have had this up and running for almost 2 years straight without ever needing to power cycle it! It never seems to get hot either, I've had it full of gigabit devices too and done terabyte copies through it. This is easily the most reliable switch I have ever owned.

It does exactly what it's suppose to do. Very easy installation right out of the box. You just plug in the cables and you're good to go. I haven't experienced any problems with it at all. I would have preferred a different color though (black perhaps). I'm not a fan of the wii color scheme.

Pros: 8 ports is great. reliable
Comment:
This is a great switch for a gigabit home network. I really like the 8 ports as 5 isn't enough. D-link is always reliable and it uses very little power.

I use this at home for my network. This is my first gigabit switch and i noticed faster transfer speeds right away. I will need to purchase another one soon as I am running out of ports. So far no problems. Enjoying the high transfer speeds.

Pros: Hassle-free operationStableAffordable
Comment:
Using this switch to connect 3 computers and 1 media player via gigabit. 100% stable and my network utilization is often in the 70-80% range which is excellent for consumer gear. My only regret is I bought the 5-port model originally - should've gotten this one right from the get go.

Pros: -Very Simple Setup-Price
Comment:
I am installing network cable throughout my house for internet and media streaming. I needed something with a few ports that I could locate for easy access. Setup couldn't be easier, it is plug and play. I plugged the cable from my modem and then to my devices. No problems as of yet, but really I would imagine that something like this either works, or it doesn't. This works, and works very well.

Cons: Power adapter feels cheap.

Pros: 8 Ports.Fast.Low power consumption.
Comment:
I purchased this switch to replace an old d-link 5 port gigabit switch. There was nothing wrong with the old switch except that I was running out of ports. So far it is working as expected. Network speed seems to be about the same as before.

Great switch, works out of the box. Used it to get a little network going in my room to transfer files. Works like a charm. Switch does Gigabit and now I realize my router doesnt, will have to fix that soon!Great product, easy to use and understand!

Cons: thin plastic chassis, could use larger ventilation holes (doesn't get overly hot, but still...)

Pros: Power conserving, link speed indicators, a truly PnP switch
Comment:
As simple as a gigabit switch can get. The 'green' feature is a nice addition, this switch conserves power on idle ports, and automatically adjust power depending on cable length.Great xfer speeds to/from my NAS and media extenders, and running with jumboframes u 9k is working flawlessly. Can't go wrong with this product and the D-Link name. As always, prices & fast service from NCIX is hard to beat.

Comment:
Pretty straight forward switch. 8 Ports, has the "green" title, which means little in actual real life cost savings.Bought this as a backup, and extender to the 24 port rackmount version in my wiring closet.Makes an excellent low-cost desktop gigabit switch.

Pros: Great throughput and lots of ports.
Comment:
I bought this switch to upgrade my home network and it's been phenomenal! The switch (no pun intended) to gigabit makes a huge difference I find when transferring large files from one hard drive to another and, with terabyte drives being so affordable, it's easy to fill up drives because you don't have to delete  anything. For now. ;)

Cons: The device and the power adapter look cheap and flimsy.

Pros: Price, Energy Saving, D-Link Product Reliability
Comment:
I have been using D-Link products for many years. I found that their network products were more reliable and had less issues in general. As for this switch, I got it for about $53.00 on promotion at NCIX. The price is right, and its speed is good. No complaint. But if you don't need the 8 ports, you might want to consider the 5 port G-bit version. It costs about $10 to $15 dollars less.

Cons: nothing I can think of.

Pros: Gigabit, fast, small
Comment:
I have one at home and the one I recently purchased was for work. The one at home has been going strong for a long time, lower power draw, gigabit, low profile. Of course there are always factors in it so you will never get a full gigabit, but always get well above 10/100. Definitely recommend! Great prices too, go NCIX!

This switch is very nice. It,s work very well and easy to install. All the 8 PC in the local is wire in a GIGABIT Network. I like the small led on the switch indicate if the connection is in 100 Mbit or 1 Gbit!

Pros: Speed, power savings, value if on sale

Nabbed this on sale for $40.. good value and has enough ports for my home network.. (Upgraded from a 5 port netgear).. speeds are improved and it's nice to have indication of connection speed added.

Pros: fast, low power consumption, good looking product!

Great switch, good value, fast speeds! I purchased this switch to replace a failing Linksys/Cisco SD2008 instead of doing an RMA. Installation and setup were a breeze, couldn't ask for anything better.

Cons: As with most products, the AC adapter is on the plug, which takes up lots of space on the powerbar, which is already full thanks to all the other computer devices.

Pros: Gigabit, power saving feature is a plus, inexpensive.
Comment:
I bought this a couple of months ago because my BEFSR41, 100mbit 4 ports wasn't enought. My setup is now : modem->firewall(dedicated computer running m0n0wall)->DGS-1008D-> computersand it's a perfect setup so far, the D-link switch is doing its job.

Cons: Size?

Pros: It's gigabit!
Comment:
It's an 8 port switch for gige ethernet, just plug it in and go. It could perhaps be a little smaller but it works great in any case. Power savings features is nice but I don't think saving off 4.5 watts is enough to write home about.

Cons: Maybe white doesn't match anything else I have ? :)Instruction manual is a bit light... the explanation on the QOS on the switch in particular in unclear to me: are ports 6-7 higher priority than the others??? Haven't found a proper answer yet (and no time to test thoroughly yet).

Pros: Installation is a no brainerFaster connections between the PCs on my lan
Comment:
Installation of this is really easy. Here's how I have it setup:Cable Modem === Linksys WRT54G === DGS-1008D === all PCs on the lanThat way lan connected PCs get 1GB connections between them, and going to the internet is business as usual. There is no fan which is a plus for keeping my office quiet. For the price, looks pretty good so far.

Cons: It's White

Pros: It's a D-Link
Comment:
I've used D-Link, Linksys, Netgear and SMC networking hardware in the past, and have always had good luck with DLink. It's always worked, both with DLink hardware and other brands. Linksys stuff is also good, but if you ever have to deal with tech support, good luck. The only downside is the white color and it being prone to getting dirty quickly

This is a very good product. Now all my network is converted to gigabit! I don't know if the power saving features are really good (I don't have a power meter plug into it!) but as far as the switching works correctly I don't really care. For 55$ in the weekly special (with a DFE-530 gigabit LAN card included!) that was a nice deal.

Cons: Product broke after 1 year.

Pros: Works as advertised, until...
Comment:
This was a great little switch for me. About a year ago I wired my home for Cat5e, built a network closet under the stairs, and upgraded all my existing machines to Gigabit ethernet. You don't really get much about 200Mbps with Gigabit because of bus limitations, but it's still pretty good.Things worked great up until 1 year after purchase, and then the router died, with a sequence of flashing lights (8 bottom lights flash once, top right light (#8) flashes once, and the router is dead. I'm RMA'ing it right now, I'll see how good the 5 year warranty really is.I've purchased a different router in the hopes that this time around I won't have similar issues.
