I bought this to make wired hotel connections wireless so I could use my computer anywhere in the room. It works. However, I now use it to connect my wired network printer to my wireless network. There's one trick to setting it up. You have to connect it to a PC through an ethernet cable to launch the setup page. However, your PC needs to have DHCP turned off and a 192.168.0.xxx address assigned in order to connect. This is just for initial setup.

I used this router as a portable security router. I have been compramised at hotels before I did some homework and found this llittle gem. It works as advertised but in app mode it is just a bridge a pass through but in router mode you are fully secure. so this product mixed with the d-link WBR-1310 solves the protection problem. other then that a great handy travel router.

Spent an hour setting it up. Used helpline which was excellent. Worked like a champ on the road. Plugged in cable and wireless connection popped right up

Very impressed with this product. I travel for business and use this frequently to wireless enable my hotel's wired Internet connection or share it with my family. I can use my wireless laptop, my wife can use her's and kids can use their wireless portable devices (DS, iPOD, etc.) all at the same time!

I bought one of these for my frequent business trips, but my son hijacked it. He uses it to connect his XBOX360 to our WLAN. It is cheaper than the Microsoft Wireless Network Adapter so I let him keep it. He's been using it for over a year now with absolutely no problems and no lag whatsoever. It did take a bit of work to properly configure it however, and it is powered by one of the USB slots on the game console. It's a great tool at a great price!

Could not believe the size of this router approx 3x2.2x.25'' really simple to configure.Has been running 24/7 for 3 weeks now. Just really a great buy. Third D-Link router I have purchased over the years. Service at the Burlington store was really great.

This thing is just the right size for the frequent traveler and works great right out of the box. It is a bit pricey for those who are not looking specifically for portability though.

I love this little pocket hotspot. For 4 weeks I was using it 24/7. The first 2.5 weeks it continually was dropping connection and needed rebooted to connect : I was using a usb power source. For the last 1.5 weeks I had it powered through ac and it never dropped again. SOOOO, if you need to connect via usb; I would give it a poor rating ... but if you have access to plugs then it does the trick!

I've just ordered a second for my wife's classroom. This is a GREAT price... local shop is asking nearly TWICE the TD price! I won't travel without mine.

Unfortunately, my DWL-G730AP was DOA, but I really like the design features of this unit. However, it appears that the D-LINK quality control is lacking as this unit had a mechanical problem - coaxial DC power connector, as well as not communicating with the PC. It was not a user-problem, i.e. Ethernet card TCP/IP config, or anything such as this, you simply could not bring up the configuration page using the browser. And, the DHCP function was not working at all. I'm currently going through the RMA process, and hopefully the next time, I will get a good one.

I recently purchased the DWL-G730AP and i am completely AMAZED at how well the product works, even right out of the box!!! and once you configure it your self it is even better!!!! I will be recommending this product to all of my friends and coworkers. A must have for any student or business man. and a great purchase for anybody else!!!

Frankly, I was skeptical to buy a D-Link product, but I needed a compact, wireless router for travel. Please understand this item does EVERYTHING it says it will do, right out of the box. It is easy to configure and works well on various networks (I have used it in dozens of hotels, conference centers, and worksites). The reliability is a pleasant surprise to me. However, what knocks your socks off is the compact size (a little bit bigger than a large book of matches!). It also comes with a nice carrying case that holds the compact power adapter (as small as the router) and a very nice flat CAT-5 connection cable. If you have the need for a portable wireless access point, don’t hesitate to buy and use this one.
