The external drive enclosure is well made, solid. However, without any instructions, it took me awhile to figure out how to even open the box to put the drive in... Deal was fine, shipping timely.

Details say 3.5 or 5.25 but the mounting hardware for a 3.5 drive is not included. This is not a big deal for me since I have tons of this stuff laying around but it would be an issue for my client. She would have no alternative but to return the product. This oversized housing with a fan should work very well for the drive which has an over temp problem.

The item was dead on arrival. It took a few days to get an RMA but the it has now been taken care of. Your comapny did a good job on handling the return.

Haven't had it very long, installed cd burner in it with no problems, works great so far.Had to give it a 4 on the quality, only because the fan is a little noisy, but not enough to return it,like I said ,it has no problems.

If you need a way to get files off an old drive with a bad OS, then this is the box that you want. In the matter of 5 min, the drive is up and you are able to copy or view your lost files. It is so easy to use, just plug and play!

The folks at Sabrent have got it right again. Don't think ill of this product. It comes with everything you'll need although not pictured in the ad (save the drive, of course).Power cables, data cables for USB transfer and even a screwdriver to aid in the mounting of the drive. I installed a DVD burner for working with Netbook computers. Complete installation out of the box was less than 10 minutes. Micro-minimal downtime, and back up and running in my PC repair business. Thanks again Tiger for superfilous service and all you do. Good products like these will keep me coming back for more.

would've been a good value but it was so noisy. Might've been a good deal if not for the fan noise. Returned with the company saying they would refund shipping which did not happen. So out $15 bucks.

The CD-DVD drive on my laptop was failing, and I had a really nice 5 1-4 double layer desktop drive in the closet. This was a cheaper solution than a replacement drive, and it works great. I can even use it on a Netbook in the future! Great idea.

When I purchased this external in closure I was not sure if it was what we needed, but now that we have it, it is the best product. It meets all of our needs for our DVD drive. I think your prices are the best. Thanks for having your store online. Sincerely, Lynda

Our old computer died and we needed something that would allow us to extract info from our old hard drive and put it on our new computer. This product was best price (by far) and mission accomplished !! Only negative was instructions were hard for novice to understand but we overcame that problem.

I bought the enclosure to utilize a Zip drive in had in an old system that I recently replaced. I have a number or zip cartridges and have found additional uses for them that allows me to use the drive via USB on other systems. There are a couple of things that could stand improvement such a very noisey fan and the power cord attachment to the unit via a mouse keyboard type plug versus a standard three prong attachment you find on your PC or other devices. Additionally rubber feet could have been added to the base to make it more secure on smooth surfaces, bought my own to stick on the base....

I've been using external drive enclosures for a coupl of years now. Initially I bought 1 for testing drives, and found they are great for that purpose. Somewhere along the way, I began using them for external storage and found the one I had wasn't real well suited for that purpose as the drive ran hot in the enclosure. The built in cooling fan seems to address that quite well. I got the 5.25 unit for the added flexibility of testing or using 5.25 inch drives in the enclosuer. My only dissapointment is that my

I purchased 2 of these - 1 to mount an internal 5.25 inch CD-DVDRW drive and another for a 3.5 inch HD; both from an old desktop to use as external drives for multiple computers. They both work well. The 5.25 inch drive mounts well, but there is no included mounting hardware for 3.5 inch drives. The quality is good; features and performance are standard. You need to remember to power up the box before plugging in the USB cable. The included instructions are poor. For example, they tell you to always set the drive jumper to master but in many cases you will need to set the drive jumper to cable select. (I needed to use this setting to be able to read the files on my old HD.)

The enclosure is really meant for DVD and CD drives and not so much hard drives. There is really no way to secure the HD to the enclosure. You are forced to lay the drive in place when you hook the IDE ribbon to the HD. The enclosure is much wider than the drive and that is the problem. Other than that, the product functions as advertised.

As I change from my Windows PC to a Mac, the enclosure holds the hard drive of the old PC. So I am able to keep the many software items I enjoyed in the PC, and to use them in the Mac.

I have several enclosures for my 'old' hard drives, CD and DVD players and this one is the best looking, best operating one of the bunch. It was easy to install an older DVD player in the enclosure and it is quiet and smoothly running. A great buy! If I need another enclosure in the future, I hope these are still available!

I was so excited when I got this enclosure. Was fairly easy to install the hard drive into and put together. It worked great for the first day. And then the second day, the power supply died. I can't seem to find a replacement power supply, so I just went and purchased another enclosure of another brand, and it's been working great. I have no idea why the power supply died.

i read the reviews and took a chance. i have an old dell omniplex that won't take a standard dvd drive and i wanted something portable. bought this and a dvd-rom, plugged in and i was ready to go. the fan IS noisy, but a small shim between fan housing and case quieted it. will probably buy another when i swap out my harddrive for a SATA.

It works and it wasn't costly, so I can't complain. The included assembly screws don't work well--I have my own supply so I used mine. I used two of them to attach my 3.5'' IDE hard drive--not the most secure connection but, again, it works. Noisy fan some folks mentioned probably due to the unused audio connector laying next to the fan in the housing--just move the connector! I found that setting the jumper to master was OK (as indicated) by the instructions.
