Cons: I hate proprietary connectionsShort cable for usb/proprietary connectionSD card slot a bit awkward, but no big dealHeavyMetal, no give, feels like would shatter upon impactDifficult to see lower buttons in the dark, or the lightThis is NOT a party camera

Pros: Wide angle lens! Finally :)Turns on and off very quickly
Comment:
I did my research and decided to pick up this camera to replace my ancient sony. Despite my hatred of proprietary connections I decided to just buy the damn thing.Unboxing was a bit disappointing. The usb cable that links to the proprietary connection is super short, maybe 12 or 14 inches. It has a pointless light on it that shows charging or charged, but camera could have done this. Just a reminder of the corners Samsung is cutting.Similarly, the wrist strap that comes with it is way too long and thus doesn't provide any help. Large hands can slip in and out of the strap no problem, not good. The wall power adapter is a thing that had a female standard usb connection. Great! Multi-purpose, right? For some reasons, instead of using 5v and 500ma some genius at Samsung decided to use 4.4v and 400ma. WTF??? So instead of 2.5w its 1.76w. Needless to stay I'm sure it would charge faster on a standard 2.5w computer USB plug and other USB devices will be hit and miss for charging. The camera itself feels SOLID. It has some serious heft to it which actually caught me offguard. This is OK. Right? Well anyone who owns a camera knows they get dropped eventually. This thing is so solid that I would very much worry about it breaking on impact due to the lack of flexibility. We'll see.Buttons, all work well. My only gripe is the button towards the bottom are small and black. If you were blind and had good finger dexterity you wouldn't have a problem, but for us sight-see'ers they are hard to figure out even with adequate lighting.Pictures are good, loving the wide angle and everything seems a bit small and more spaced out which is expected. Haven't gotten into video or anything substantial but felt I had enough at this point to post a review since this seems to be on sale alot these days.Bottom line, not super thrilled with the corner Samsung has cut, but maybe i'll grow to accept it. I do wish I had this for the Olympics. This review was modfied by poster @ 03-12-10 12:35 AM
