Was using DLink's Ethernet over powerline but started getting flaky with hd streaming and 5 outlets.Full res movies are no problem now and we are getting the same down/up load speeds from the furthest unit (2 floors and other side of house away)as if we were plugged directly into the Shaw router.The ultimate would be hard wired Ethernet in every room but most people don't have that option in their home. Powerline isn't bad, but it's not for everyone. 90% of homes already have cable installed and if you want to step up to the next level of data transfer and can spare the extra $$$ you'll never look back. |

I read some negative reviews about this pair of Ethernet over coax devices, along with complaints about instructions and support. But for my situation, wireless didn't work and powerline adapters were too "if y" so I decided to give them a try.Imagine my pleasant surprise when I opened the box, installed them according to the instructions (which were not really necessary, as it is obvious how they should be connected), and everything worked exactly as promised.There is no degradation in the TV signal, even on HD channels. Prior to my upgrade to FiberOP, my internet connection was 7 down 0.3 up. With it, my best speed is generally about 72 down and 30 up. With this new Ethernet over coax setup, I get about 67 down and 30 up, which is pretty amazing.When I talked to my ISP, they said it couldn't be done, the first time I called, and said it wouldn't work after I showed them the listing at NCIX.So, they were clearly wrong, as it works as advertised and far better than I expected, and only took about 10 minutes to install and test. NOTE: It is clearly stated that it does NOT work over satellite coax setups. |
I picked up a single ECB2500C to go with my dxn-221 kit. If I didn't pickup the d-link kit I would've bought this instead as the d-link ones seemed to require more frequent power cycling. But since I had rogers nextbox(which rogers installs a filter like the one mentioned in d-links setup guide) they more or less suggested to stop using them.
