When the unit arrived, I opened the box and within minutes I had the unit operational, partially thanks to the miniature screw driver that was included. I am extremely happy with it and I plan to purchase more of these units.

I used an old Western Digital EIDE drive, that works fine the first time you turn it on, but each time you turn the power switch off, you have to unplug the power supply from the drive and plug it back in, before you plug the USB plug back into the drive, otherwise, your computer won't recognize the drive. Also, always turn on the power before you plug or unplug the USB plug. I know this might sound complicated but it will save you a lot of trial and error headaches. The instructions are short and iffy. Also don't forget to install the four silver side mount screws that you can't see behind the two slide out side panels and aren't mentioned in the instructions either. I'm also contacting Sabrent to let them know.

This is exactly as described and now allows me to use one of my old internal drives as an external drive.

Who would've expected the power cord to be bad. I swapped it out early because it was a good diagnostic habit. I was delighted to find I didn't have to negotiate a return. I had hundreds of power cords. I'll keep this one to screw with know-it-alls.

Placed my old 40GB Western Digital IDE HDD in the unit as planned and it works just fine. Even my old Seagate 80GB HDD works well in it. Got the data off the old drives, re-formatted them and now I use them for picture storage and backing up Word documents.

Installed my Seagate harddrive and it worked the first time and is still working with no problems. Installation was a snap and they provided the tools. What a deal.

The unit works fine on my Windows XP machine but I can't find a driver to make it work on Windows 98SE. The system requirements state that it will work on 98SE. I have an Ultra unit that works fine on both machines BUT it cost twice as much. It had a driver disk with it for 98SE.

I was fairly impressed with the unit. My customer was VERY happy to have her unit repaired and also very pleased with the new enclosure and it's operation. Thanks again.

For sure. The esb cable that plugs into the unit fits too badly to allow more that a millisecond connection to search the drive. Otherwise, oh you're supposed to secure the drive to the chassis that's what those extra screws are for, as the ends don't screw together and can easily fall off too.... I'll replace with an overpriced Ultra because I know they work.

I bought two of these to replace another drive maker's enclosures whose power supplies had failed. These cases are working beautifully. And really, for the money it's incredible! I only wish that the drive access light was on the front, other than that, I will buy more of these when I need another enclosure.

I've bought a few of these, once to put old hard drives in and now to use once to move info from an old to a new. These cases are not worth it! They break rather quickly (after a few months for me) and you cant return them. In my opinion if you get this move your info to another hard drive asap because you can not rely on this product at all.

This isn't the best looking enclosure out there, but at the price it's a great option if you have an old drive laying around that you want to utilize

Works as advertised. The screws to secure the hard drive to the case are underneath the plastic inserts, and work well to secure the hard drive to the case. Inexpensive and works well. I will buy another when and if I have the need.

Performs as advertised. Easy to install. Only negative is that the disk is not well-secured within the case so you don't want to move it around much or allow it to tumble. Stand is functional.

You open the box, pop that drive in, and you're up and running. It ain't pretty, but it gets the job done. Kinda like Claude Akins. Or whatever...

I pgraded to Win 7 and wanted to get a clean HDD, I used this to create a new drive and transfer my old files and now use it as backup. This was fast and easy to setup. Compact and easy to find a space for. I recommend it!

I bought 2 of these to house 2 ide Hard drives. One seemed to work fine, but the other had a bad power supply. I was about to send the defective one back when something went wrong with the other and the computer couln't recognise the drive. Luckily I was able to swap out the defective front piece with the one I was sending back. I'm waiting for the replacement now. My non-defective one has been running 24..7 for about a month now without any problems, so I'm hoping that once you get a good one, it will last.
