Haven't had time to fish my new home with cat6 cable but so I slapped a single of these on my computer in the mean time. I plugged it into win7 64 and native drivers function just fine so I'm calling that great 'nuff and rolling with it. Operates substantially superior than I anticipated. It picks up my Linux-primarily based router with more strength than both of my laptops. It would be good if the cap snapped onto the back of the unit. I duct-taped mine so I wouldn't shed it. There, I fixed it. Comes with a small USB dongle. But it isn't the size of the your dongle that matters, it is how you operate it.

This adapter functions excellent on a G network utilizing Windows 7. It's the purpose why I purchased this adapter as well... it's plug and play with Windows 7. Couldn't have been simpler to set up. None at all.

It performs flawlessly, excellent reception with a Linksys G router. You have to install the drivers under Windows Vista. It's a bit bulky, and it overtakes a bit of space off the second USB connection. Not seriously a Con for me anyways.

Worked in Ubuntu with out troubles for a year. Died this morning. Also, it's fairly flimsy. If it gets bumped at all, the connector will bend quite freely and the case will snap open. It bends and snaps back into location just fine although.

Its a usb adapter. My 2004 dell optiplex that I bought utilized didnt have a wireless card. I bought this usb wireless adapter so that If I have one more old personal computer devoid of wireless capability that I want to take on the net I can just move the adapter to that computer. I have to repair the connection a lot. I suspect that the difficulty is one particular of place. The wireless router and this adapter are seperated by the first floor and the tower with the adapter plugged in is sitting on the floor between a desk and a filing cabinet.I may possibly attempt relocating the tower but I'll most likely just live with it since relocating the tower would call for relocating fairly a handful of issues.Sometimes it works well without dropping the connection often I should repair the connection usually. I have regarded finding a usb extension cord and possibly obtaining the adapter up and out from amongst my desk and the filing cabinet....but like I stated...Ill most likely just live with it.

Decent value, USB cord Overheats (I had to take away the cover and it nonetheless overheats, just takes longer), RTL8187B chipset (dodgy with BT4), doesn't operate with Mac OS X Depends what you are obtaining it for. If it's safety auditing, you could want to look at slightly far more high priced devices (with an external antenna) as an alternative.Newegg refunded it due to the fact it wasn't working with my Mac, not quite a few questions asked, congrats to newegg for the excellent customer service on this a single :)-continued from the evaluation beneath-

Affordable, simple setup. Comes with brief USB extender due to the fact it would cover up neighboring USB ports. As other individuals have said, does get a bit warm but absolutely nothing too poor at all. I purchased this to add wireless to a desktop and am quite pleased. Plug and play with Windows 7 x64. The Encore picks up just as quite a few networks as my laptop and doesn't even have the benefit of a larger antenna like the laptop does.I have this plugged into a powered USB hub and it works wonderful!

This adapter functions better than the a single in my laptop! Picks up wide variety and effortless to set up. I like the extra cord so it can extend out and not use up space subsequent to other ports! None it gets a little warm, but not hot. As extended as it sends and receives thats fine with me!

Operates great, web is quick. My pc is only like 3 feet from the router so i can't test the distance. The only problem i had was getting it set to my router properly. I had to have a friend with a lot more personal computer skills set it up, but it only took 2 minutes

Low value Doesn't lock onto the signal I bought this unit because of its low value. It installed very easily on my desktop Computer, but it's generally useless. it can detect the wireless signal in my property, but it drops the signal quickly immediately after acquiring it. I have a Dell laptop with a built-in wireless card subsequent to the desktop Pc. The Dell promptly acquires the signal and does not drop off the network, so I surmise there is enough signal strength in my residence. Now I have to commit more money to acquire a greater network adapter.

-Undoubtedly wokrs as a wireless adapter-Extremely low cost-Looks sturdy adequate-CD software program performs fairly effectively -Software program consists of a wireless client that overrides WinXP's client by default, can be disabled, but it's nevertheless a big discomfort-Bulky, sticks out like a sore thumb If there's 1 factor I learned from tech support jobs, it's that I LOATHE 3rd-party wireless clients. Why can't the CD just contain a driver that operates with Wireless Zero Config? That's all I ask!Other than that, the adapter operates just fine and it was a pleasant purchase. Newegg is a brilliant website, and the only internet site I trust on the world wide web for my electronics.

Inexpensive Huge adapter. Sub-2003 software program. Did not remain connected to wifi signals and would turn off intermittently. Software was the greatest problem. It was straight GARBAGE. Got what I paid for. Went and purchased a Linksys adapter for โ. It functions 100000 occasions better.

-Works as it need to.-Auto installs drivers in Windows 7.-Incredibly low-cost.-Comes with extension USB cable. -Good range None. The short extender cable can be quite valuable for laptops, if you accidentally bump, or bend the adapter while plugged in, it will destroy both the adapter and your USB port. Won't occur when plugged into extender.

This is an addition to my earlier evaluation. I stated that I was acquiring reduced transfer prices than advertised. This machine has no higher speed USB 2. ports so that seriously impends this adapters capacity to perform at larger speeds. And what sucks is that i have a couple USB two. expansion slot ports but theres no much more USB connectors on the mobo. None Be conscious, make sure this is plugged into a High Speed USB two. port!
