Cons: Blue LED, Weight

Pros: Dual Bays, Temps
Comment:
I love this enclosure, 2 1TB seagates inside for 2TB of storage. I dont notice it making any noise at all as it is for a media center on the other side of the room. Its a heavy brick once the drives are in so dont plan on carrying it around anywhere. Computer is left on 24/7 and have had no problems with the drive whatsoever. The blue LED is only bothersome if you dont use blue leds in your setup, I use red, so it is a bit of a pain, have not tried to swap it out yet.

Cons: device built cheap, noisy fan, non standard power cable. Selector button at the back fragile (dual - JBOD button).

Pros: none over any other same type devices
Comment:
I will not purchase again nor recommend it. Generally speaking: not a bad device, had it been half the price... Design is cool. Doors seems to be fragile. I says seems to be since I didn't deliberately twist them just to check. The inner plastic bumper that is supposed to hold the drive is not thick enough. The installed drives are making a clinking noise when the device is manipulated in all 3 axis. I put 2x1.5TB Caviar green to get 3tb storage. Power cable is non standard. Must cost a fortune to replace. Device (fan) too noisy to keep on my desk. I own a pavilion m9160f and my whole computer is more silent then this little box. Must move it elsewhere and surround it with stuff. Lights are on top at the back. Very poorly chosen location. Overall, this device is too expensive for its general quality. I will not purchase again nor recommend it.

Cons: - Only USB connectivity. No firewire or e-SATA

Pros: - Dual HDD and JBOD mode- Sturdy build with cooling fan- HDD hot-swappable- One touch backup
Comment:
For someone who strictly uses only Vantec (Nexstar) enclosures, this enclosure (as well as the tooless 2.5" enclosure) by Eagletech impressed me.There was no need to screw/unscrew anything to connect two drives to this enclosure. The metallic mesh casing is sturdy, the fan is great for cooling, and I've been able to finally back up my old SATA drives by hot-swapping them after a transfer. Popping the drives out after an intense transfer, they felt like they no more than at a comfortable room temperature. I'm currently using 2 Samsung 1.5TB drives inside in dual drive mode; although I love the idea of JBOD, if I ever have to take a drive out, I'm sure complications might arise.Anyways, this is a great enclosure as long as you don't plan on carrying it around with you. With 2 drives inside, it can get quite hefty. This review was modfied by poster @ 12-05-09 01:29 PM

Cons: Doesnt fit the WD Black 1TBHas a slight whinning noise from electrical components when the USB is not connected, but the noise is bearly noticeable. The Fan makes some noise, but it is comparatively less noisier than from brands.I dont think this casing will take too many SWAPPINGSmaybe 10 or 20 swaps, as the door hinge is likely to break from the tension. but who is going to swap so much?

Pros: Good built quality.Easy to swap HDDs
Comment:
I got them for $39.99Awesome Casing. The build quality seems better than other casing. The mirror drive bay doors give a bit of professional look :)Right now I am using 2 of the WD10EADS. After transferring around 700GB of files, I took out the drive to check for heat. The hard-drives were almost at room temperature. With two drives inside, it is quite stable. But if you are using one drive, I would suggest laying it on its side. The Reason for not giving a 5 star is that, it doesnt fit the WD 1TB Black HDDs as they are slightly fatter. You could go with the WD10EADS, as the lower cache wouldn't impact the performance as they are already bottlenecked on the USB interface. This review was modfied by poster @ 08-23-09 06:12 AM
