straightforward design. stays quite cool. bought this to salvage a 160 GB drive out of my old process. easy to set up the drive. the only issue i found that i wish they changed was the length of the IDE ribbon cable. it's about an inch longer than it requirements to be and that tends to make it somewhat of a discomfort to cram into the small space there is accessible. got it a day and a half soon after i ordered it. |

bought by way of newegg I bought this enclosure to back-up the data on my old difficult drive so I could transfer it to my new drive. My Eagle SATA enclosure worked properly so I bought the IDE version. 1st time I turned it on, it blew a capacitor on the enclosure board. It also torched the board on my difficult drive, would not work when I put it back into my computer. I lost all my music, images Ɩ years worth), and analysis for my thesis. Eagle buyer support was no help, claim that the enclosure will not harm the challenging drive. Don't acquire Eagle items. Anyone want a SATA enclsoure?In contrast to Eagle, New Egg support is a pleasure to deal with. |

it does specifically what it says it will do. I place in a 200GB maxtor hard drive inside this enclosure. have had no problems so far. it functions very good on both my ubuntu 9.10 computer system and my windows 7 64bit computers. None I purchased this challenging drive to safley have a backup copy of all of my music ࿃gig's at the molment) for off website storage incase my property gets destroyed and my comptuers are lost (fire, flood, negative storm something of that sort) the file transfer speed ranges among 24MBps and 17MBps for me. The enclosure gets worm but never ever gets hot sufficient to get worried about even with no fan.If you want a low price hdd enclosure to place you're old IDE hdd back to use that is collecting dust this is the way to go. low cost. operates best. and looks decent on you're desk. |

Aesthetically pleasing to the eyes.Enclosure is extremely solid and straightforward to put together Ɣ screws for each side plates).Internal connections are straightforward to access.Kit includes all essential hardware. Internal ribbon cable hard to bend even though installing drive.On/Off switch is the slide-type vs. rocker-sort.Energy cord has bulky "wall wart" vs. cord-dc energy supply-cord-AC plug.No way to safely stack a number of drives. |

Solid case design. Metal construction. Straightforward setup. It would have been nice to be a tiny bit smaller. I think the electronics package inside is small enough that this would have been achievable. |
I installed my Western Digital Caviar 80 Gig IDE drive from my old Dell in this enclosure; I didn't change any of the jumpers (set to 'cable choose'), hooked it up, turned it on and it's been operating ever since. Inatallation instructions had been simple and properly believed out. What far more could you ask for? None! I am using this on a house constructed technique based on an i7-920 OC'd to three.2GHz and operating Win 7 Property Premium 64 bit. This issue just worked!
