It did default to 1066MHz w/ CAS timings of 7-7-7-24, but was very easily changed to 1600MHz @ 9-9-9-24. This memory is extremely fast and appears manufactured to a higher normal. None. This ram can be pushed beyond its specified 1600mhz clock effortlessly at stock/auto voltage levels, and still remain cool/stable. Gskills customer service is terrible. I inquired about buying yet another stick (single 2GB 1600mhz) and didn't get any response at all. Other than the buyer service I would highly recommend this ram.
