Cons: High learning curve, very difficult to adjust to after years of keyboard use, does not fit in large hands well

Pros: Very high quality, extremely responsive
Comment:
After 10 weeks of using this I'm finally playing better with it than with a keyboard. It has improved my responsiveness in fast paced online games and made me a better player overall. It does not fit in my hands very well which may be part of the length of time it took me to adjust to it. It's still a good high quality product, I would recommend it to anyone with normal/smaller sized hands.

Cons: Took a little time to get used to, but once started using it, I don't know how I was gaming without it

Pros: Easy to use even for a novice gamerNice ergonomic designAn actual useful computer peripheral
Comment:
I bought this when a friend recommended it was good to use for gaming. It's powered by razor afterall so it must be a product of high quality for gaming. It's nicely designed and very useful.

Cons: Not for everybody. Learning curve. Not enough button for every settings. Not supported anymore by Berlkin.

Pros: Confortable and ergonomics, looks good

I was looking for while for this item. Bought it for 20$ on sale. It's very confortable for long gaming session. It need adaptation period. I played with it for 25-30 hours and it's not as familiar as a real keyboard. Tried it with Diablo 3 and it's really easy to setup and use.Tried a little with World of Warcraft but i use too many key to map everything on the N52.

Cons: - Some controls are difficult to reach or manipulate (perhaps different for people with particularly large hands)

Pros: - Has a lot of programmable keys, including all 8 directions of the D-pad.- Simply better layout for games than a standard keyboard- Onboard memory to store three different configurations, with fairly powerful software to configure it.
Comment:
I bought this item for use with MOBA games like League of Legends. I was initially concerned about how much pressure the keys would need as I was used to scissor-switch keys and like the snappy response. These keys feel like the typical dome type but they do have a comparatively short travel and they bounce back quickly, so I'm pretty okay with them. The biggest problem I have with the gamepad is that it seems to be designed for people with large hands. I have what I think are average-sized hands, and I have to remove the palm-rest to be able to reach the space key without shifting my other fingers out of the normal playing position. Even then, it's a stretch. The D-Pad is also not very useful as a D-Pad because you don't have firm pressure opposing your thumb and again it's hard to manipulate without moving your other fingers around slightly. It might be workable if you configure the keymappings so your index finger is on the "10" key instead of the "09" key, but I play with my four fingers on 06 through 09 so I just use the DOWN button of the D-Pad for my space button and remapped the other directions as well.I don't play shooters much, but when I do I use a regular keyboard instead. I think this device is great for MMOs and similar games with lots of inputs, but I find WASD easier to use for first-person games.

Cons: -Get it on sale or not at all.

Pros: -Great performance enhancer
Comment:
For 59.99 you might as well go with the Razer brand, because of the software suit (there is a large difference) if you can get this guy on sale for about 39.99 you've got a heck of a deal. They will improve at least a slight performance boost in games such as League of Legends with properly formated keys.

Cons: Spacebar key is too far (easy reconfigured to the "thumb button" instead)Sucks that I had to go back to the store because the first unit I received was defective

Pros: ComfortableIlluminated! (can switch off)Less keystroke mistakesGot it at the surprise sale price!Macros
Comment:
This is actually my second (exchange) unit. The first unit given to me was defective. I tried every driver possible (from the CD, from Belkin's website, and even the legacy drivers) and none of them recognized the device (Using Windows 7 64-bit). Tried it on Windows XP 32-bit and the same problems, it still wouldn't work (PC wouldn't even recognize the device was plugged in). So I went back to NCIX and got a replacement unit. Went home and plugged it in, and it worked instantly (drivers were still installed). So if you find that yours will not work no matter what you've tried, it's probably defective! Just go back and try another one. It should work with Windows 7 64-bit with no problems (mine is even plugged into a 7-port USB hub). Battlefield 3 is even more fun now that I have this thing! Thanks NCIX for the surprise special price! Completely worth it

Cons: However, my item came to me like an opened box item. But, I do not care if it still be working. So far, I get problem with the installation. My computer does not recognize the pad. I tried many ways to get it work like downloading the new software from Belkin and changing to the other 3 computers with no lucks.

Pros: It is a good gaming pad in the market. I got it on sale for 29.99+tax + free express shipping.

I wold do RMA for mine as I still want to use this pad anyway.Hopefully the new one coming will not have any issues.

Cons: D pad could have been designed better. Found switching banks of keys not very convenient. I just use keys that are on one bank. I would have designed the D pad with an indent where your thumb rests.

Pros: Much better than using keyboard where keys are harder to hit and remember. Quite comfortable.
Comment:
There are 12 keys arranged in a square pattern. I use those as the main control keys. I assign shift and ctrl to the 2 keys furthest right in the first two rows. (These are outside of that square pattern). One user here suggested putting the tip of a rubber finger tip you can get a office supply store over the D pad stick. This works good. I assign alt key to the thumb button and space bar to the space key or key 15 as they label it. This arrangement usually gives you more than enough keys to cover most games. That is basically 48 keys.

Cons: Not enough keys for most games.'Space bar' is an uncomfortable reach.Thumb D-Pad feels rather clumsy.Wheel in an odd spot. I would prefer another key or two.

Pros: Nice, soft, back-lighting.Feels Comfortable for the most part.Adjustable palm rest is a great feature.
Comment:
Kind of a hit and miss product. For some games it feels great, and is incredibly functional. Unfortunately, for most games it lacks a sufficient amount of keys. Personally, I haven't experienced a lack of response in the keys, as has been stated in some reviews. However, I've tried binding some number keys to the thumb D-Pad and that does feel rather clumsy and unresponsive. I'm not a big fan of the wheel either. Haven't made use of it yet, and can't see myself doing so in the future. An extra row of 'number keys' and adjustment to the space bar would make this a real winner.

Cons: Not cherry switch

Pros: Comfortable, easy to configure, looks cool, solid material and give an advantage in most of the games
Comment:
I have a keyboard that I love for typing but is not a "gaming keyboard" and buying this was the result of a dilemma between buying this and a 100$ keyboard with cherry key. The layout is perfect with my hand and so far I love it for gaming (tried in Dota2 and TF2).

Cons: Bad macro editor, abandonned by Belkin

Pros: Good key sensivity, very comfortable
Comment:
This device is a mixed bag of awesomeness and deception. It's layout is a bit weird to get used to but once you get it, it's very comfortable. The macro editor is the only huge drawback. It's interface feel old and raw. There's presets available on Belkins website, but only for older game.

Pros: Comfortable, Looks like the hardcore gamer you areBlue light is not harsh and blinding
Comment:
Bought it a week ago to try it out for Battlefield 3 but was surprised myself at how many keys I needed actually to play the game. There aren't enough keys on the n52te but with some tweaking (momentary toggle for different profiles) you can actually hit all the keys you want, but it does feel SLOWER compared to my keyboard =(. There are also other players online who share the gamepad profiles for certain games if you are unsure of the optimal key bindings for your game.Overall it was comfortable, stylish but alas not ideal for me.

Pros: Got it on sale for $29
Comment:
I've been using the G15 keyboard for a few years now, the 52te seems like it would work really good. Except, there is not enough room on my desk for it when paired with the keyboard. I would have to reach to far for it. I choose my G15, maybe I will use the n52 for the next big fps game I play.

Cons: I find the spacebar button to be a little to far and I have to stretch to hit it. I would agree with over reviews that the Buttons do not press easily and you have to use hit keys pretty hard while you play.

Pros: Comfortable, felt very natural if you're used to WASD gameplay. I'm a sucker for LED's, software is simple to install and configure quickly.
Comment:
Overall, I don't find this to be a viable replacement for my gaming keyboard. I bought it to try it out, and I don't know how much i'll use it and i wouldn't replace it if this broke. In a future product I would like to see the spacebar placement changed to access it easier and I would like to see another top row of buttons to simulate the number line of keys.

BEWAREThe drivers + programs are out of date and it no longer seems to be supported by belkin/razer.I'm using a macbook pro with OS Lion and program it comes with does not work.I bought this to be used for photo/video editing. But don't sweat it if you're a Lion user. ControllerMate will allow you to use the controller nicely. It may even be better than the original program it came with.ControllerMate will cost you another $15 on top though for a full version. Its not that expensive and is worth every penny. For the sale price of $29.99 + the $15 it is still quite an ok deal.

Cons: Tricky to get set up, TERRIBLE driver support which equates to a limited device life.

Pros: Great device, super useful, conforms nicely to my hand.
Comment:
I have an older model of this game pad and have used it a lot. It was great! Windows 7 came out and suddenly now my pad won't work. I go to their web site for support but my device is no longer listed. I emailed Belkin and they tell me that they stopped making drivers for this model forcing me to go buy a new pad (which is stupid since mine functioned 100%). TERRIBLE SUPPORT! Keep this in mind when buying one of these, it's only temporary, at least while the driver lasts.

Cons: System tray icon menu does not have the option to change the map on the fly, must use one of the n52's buttons or open the editor to change. To use commands such as "SHIFT + C" you have to make a macro...easily done, but that sort of thing should be hard coded into the software such as when you program a joystick.

Pros: Nice Shape--Especially for large hands and long fingers. Keys have a nice, crisp feeling. Button above D-pad feels a little spongey, but works nicely. Because of the keyboard imitation, it can be used with any software that has keyboard shortcuts (NOT JUST GAMES).
Comment:
Firstly, I did not buy this for gaming, I bought it to use with software that has alot of tools that you need to change to on the fly, such as Solidworks, Autocad, Photoshop, etc. I could see it being handy with any piece of software that would normally be cluttered up with menu bars and that does not require alot of actual keyboard typing (such as word). In general, this thing has a great feel, and the repositionable hand rest is great because at the medium setting my hand would get cramped up. The buttons have a great, crisp feeling with nice spring back and all the buttons are within easy reach, althouth button 1 is a little far for my pinky finger, but that could just be my own finger the culprit. The scroll wheel is a little too close to the hand rest, so you end up having to use the tip of your finger instead of the fleshy pad as you would normally do for a mouse. As I mentioned in the cons, in order to use simple key strokes (beyond the default ones in windows like (ctrl + x, etc...) you have to make it a macro instead of it just caputuring the key input. This isn't so much of a problem, its just that if you want to port your configs to another machine or just to back up your settings, you have to look in more than one location to do so. Haven't used it a ton yet, so reliability may still be an option, but first impressions are very good.

Cons: - Cheap thumb joystick, almost useless- Software issues

Pros: - Looks awesome- Good button layout- Works out of box
Comment:
Overall a good product and worth the money only when it's on sale. The backlighting is very well done and it feels very good in a small hand. I bought this thinking that the thumb joystick was fully analogue (ala XBOX360) but was disappointed that it was a cheap digital D-pad underneath. I found a bug in the software where I was able to switch between key mappings (which would illuminate one of three different coloured lights on the unit) and all of a sudden I could no longer switch between the two.

Cons: -spacebar (button 15) is much worse-D-pad still mostly useless-foam feet slide as much as the old model's plastic pad-button angles have been changed-old N52 software is not compatible, crippled macros

Pros: -round button above the d-pad is much improved-scroll-wheel detents are better-key membranes have a more positive feedback-built-in memory saves your main config to the device-soft-touch coating on palm-rest
Comment:
This is a comparison with the original Nostromo/Belkin N52. In short, the N52TE offers minor improvements and cool-factor, but introduces many new problems.Pros:-The main keys have a less "mushy" activation click.-The scroll-wheel has much firmer detents - it was almost impossible to tell how many clicks you moved the old one.-The round button above the D-pad is MUCH less difficult to activate.-The N52TE has built-in memory, so you can store a single configuration in the device. This means you can plug it into any PC and play without installing the software - but as I see it this is not much of a plus. How often do you game on someone else's computer?-The palm grip now has a thin, velvety "soft-touch" coating instead of being shiny/hard. While this is less slippery when sweaty, it looks much dirtier once it dries and will eventually come off (if you clean it... ew).Cons:-The backlighting is pretty, but entirely unnecessary. If you have to look at the pad to know where your fingers are placed, you need more than a controller to improve your game.-The spacebar (Button 15) has been crippled, and does not register presses on the outer-right side (where your thumb naturally sits). This is exceedingly frustrating, because it still gives an audible and tactile click. Into the lava you go.-The D-pad feels better, but isn't. Improvements have been made to the tactile feedback as with the other keys, but the position and angle still make it almost impossible to press diagonally without hitting one of the main cardinal directions as you release it. The round thumb-stick nub is a joke. Using these keys still encourages the controller to slide away from you across your desk. -For me this is a con, but you may like it: The key-caps are different. While the old ones are like a standard keyboard (concave tops, and farther rows of keys are positioned higher and at steeper angles), these have fairly flat tops, and the front row sits almost flush with the second. This combination makes it easier to press two adjacent keys, which is rarely desired in the FPS games most people use this device for.-If you don't like Razer's software, too bad! The old Loadout Manager is not compatible. It may be possible to hack the Device IDs, but if you do, you won't be able to use the built-in memory ("Synapse"). In addition, the Razer software has added some limits on macro-building. With the old software, you could simply specify the delay between keypresses in milliseconds. The new Macro Editor only allows increments of 50ms. I don't use them, so it doesn't bother me, but I can see how it might be a problem in games where timing is important.-The controller still doesn't stay put. The original N52 had that dreadful plastic orange pad on the bottom, which seemed to have been made of the same material as mouse skates. Luckily the N52TE replaces this with... slices of low density foam??? OK, I will admit these have slightly more grip, but this is negated because the new controller is slightly less heavy.Bonus Hypothesis: How to Frankenstein together a better N52 (degree of difficulty unknown)Starting with the original N52, keep the main PCB, keycaps, and spacebar switch. From the N52TE, strip the outer case, D-pad cover, scroll-wheel, palm-rest, the switch from the round button, and all key membranes, and transplant them onto the old device. If sucessful, you will lose the backlighting, the horrid grey/orange colour scheme, the lame software restrictions, the mushy and unusable buttons, and gain a heavier device that's more comfortable.
