I ordered this unit to have a boot device in the event of a hard drive failure and to have a means for updating the BIOS. Turns out the BIOS of my new ASUS mobo is 2mb uncompressed which means a single floppy cannot hold it, and I can boot off a CDROM in the event of a hard drive failure. That means the floppy drive I bought is no longer needed. I'm therefore returning it without ever unpacking it. Thanks to TD's return policy, this process is really easy. Thanks TD. It's ploicies like this that keep me coming back for more. |

This is an excellent floppy drive, but I was surprised that the floppy drive had no bottom cover. I had trouble with the installation of this drive into the Ultra X-Blaster Black ATX Mid-Tower Case with clear side, ULT33179. I had to make a bottom cover for it, which took me several extra hours of work. This case has a rake type front metal support and a back support, that can scrape against the electronics board during installation of the drive. This type of support is only used on the floppy drive bay of this case. Otherwise, this drive is excellent, and it is a good value for the money. |

The receptacle for the data connector is not keyed allowing even a keyed connector to be inserted in the wrong position. Fortunately, this did not result in damage to either the floppy drive nor the pc. Once this mistake was corrected the unit worked just fine.(The coloured stripe on the cable must be placed away from the four-pin power connector) |

build this into a barebone, kit. Works excellent, little loud. Would Recommend!, I would have rather to buy the combo with card reader.
