Cons: Turbo boost is annoying for overclocking

Pros: Great for highly threaded applications, Low thermals
Comment:
I bought this processor with an Asrock 970 extreme 3 mobo during the boxing week sale for about 135$ to replace my old gigabyte model and AMD Phenom X2 II 4 core (2 unlocked cores) processor.I was pleasantly surprised by the giant tasks that this CPU will do, from Blender to Photoshop, this CPU has no problems with keeping up. It's one downside is the low clock speed (3.3 GHz) which for a 6 core multi threaded application is great, but definitely not designed for single core games.Shipping via Xpresspost arrived two days late and as always NCIX customer service made it right instantly.

Cons: None for the money

Pros: Fast processorCheap price
Comment:
Bought this as part of a bundle for a budget gaming system for a friend. Did not bother overclocking as he mostly plays older games, and this CPU will automatically clock itself up to 3.9 GHz on a single core for intensive applications like a game that only utilizes a single core. Stock fan is loud until you go into your BIOS and set the smart fan settings and minimum fan speeds. Once I did that the fan is quiet enough to not need replacing. Combined with an SSD, a GTX460, and 8gb of RAM it was a nice little system, can't think of what could beat it in that price range.

Comment:
Ok, so I don't know what some people are talking about, but my "day-to-day" apps run super snappy. Want things to fire-up faster? Get an SSD, no heat issues, no OC'ing required, compact in size, and very friggin' snappy. If you want to compare to an i5, let's look at the price point. Intel i5 c 3.2GHz = $189.99. FX6100 = $109.99...win... So, yeah, the fx-6100 won't get you the benches that an i5 spits-out, but for a fraction of the cost, I have no regrets. But then again, snappiness is very subjective. AMD fan for life.

Cons: Not really cheap, considering an I3 feels quicker when using for day to day apps and mild gaming. Stock cooler is noisey, so add the price of a aftermarket cooler. Surprised by the amount of heat it gives off.

Pros: It works ok as a server.
Comment:
Bought this for the price and couldn't believe it runs this slow stock. Compared to the newer pc's in house I5 and I3 this just lacks the snap those have when using for day to day apps. Windows 7 boots noticeably slower and apps in general just feel sluggish compared to intel chips. I would not buy this again, and before anyone says I need to OC. Heat and power are factors for me, my computer room gets pretty warm in the summer and I don't want to have the ac cranked. Luckily this will be my designated server, I bought this with the msi mb combo for the price its hard to get an intel combo with 6 sata ports.

Pros: 6 cores, cost v.s. power
Comment:
As time goes on I keep buying more and more AMD components. I choose this processor due to the power verses cost ratio - which cannot be beat. So I'm really happy with it! Easily overclocked too which is a bonus! (Not to mention 6 cores just sounds cool)

Cons: none really at this price.

Pros: Very flexible for overclocking.Allows much greater multi taskingRuns pretty cool with stock fan even while overclocked.
Comment:
I am not sure why I bought this one instead of an FX-4170. I knew ahead of time that for now four core chips are better for gaming than 6 core. However I am pretty happy with this thing, nonetheless. Plus I don't game all that much now a days anyway. I might play FarCry 3 when it comes out and Borderlands 2 maybe. It's main strength, in my opinion, is how good it is at allowing multi tasking. My first test (before even overclocking) was to run a DVD ripper app, while browsing the net, running a heavy java app and listening to some tunes. Everything ran smoothly without any hiccups. I, now, have overclocked this thing to 4.0Ghz on stock fan and it's running just fine. I actually had it running at 4.2 and it was stable, but the temp was getting a bit high and I decided not to risk it.I have tried playing BF3 at 4.0Ghz and it ran just fine for a couple of hours. However my video card (Radeon HD7570 it's pretty much 6570 just very slightly improved) is crap so I still had a bit of lag going on.

Pros: good for multitasking and gaming and everything else
Comment:
I had to buy this CPU so I could use my new motherboard (GIGABYTE 78LMT-USB3) as my old cpu was not supported. It is just as fast as the old cpu (Phenom II X4 965 BE)and is great at multitasking, gaming and everything else you could want. For the price it was purchased at ($109.99) I would call it a great bang for the buck cpu. Very happy with this purchase. Also I am using the CoolerMaster Hyper 212+ cpu cooler, not the stock heatsink and fan and it is running cool and quiet at 3.8 GHz. This review was modfied by poster @ 09-23-12 11:46 PM

Pros: Really easy to install, and easy to overclock
Comment:
Really happy with this processor! Easily overclocked it to 3.8Ghz could push it to 4Ghz but don't use that much speed unless im gaming. Only regret is of coarse price, I bought this for $169.99 but that's just the fact of life.Would reccommend to my friends and family as a very inexpensive and high performance processor!

Cons: -Heats a lot and the heat sink is way too small for it.

Pros: -Works really well and is easily overclocked.
Comment:
This is my first time with AMD and cannot that I am disatisfied, BUT the heat sink that comes with is just insanely small and the processor tends to heat a lot more than its Intel counter parts. Then again, it was 100 $ cheaper than Intel. I strongely recommend to get a bigger heat sink if you are to get this processor.

Cons: Very power hungry. Typical low quality AMD heat sink. Not a whole lot faster than my 2.4GHz Q6600 despite 2 extra cores and higher speed.

Pros: Fast. Stable. Can be overclocked if necessary. Inexpensive compared to Intel options.
Comment:
AMD claims a TDP of 95w for this package. It's reported as 152.5w (verified by actual line measurements), since that's what it actually draws at 90% to 100% load. CPU speed was reported as 3.3GHz but it's difficult to tell if turbo was active. A better heat sync will be required for extended high load applications. I tried it briefly at 3400GHz and TDP went up to 165w. Overclockers will need a very good heat sink. This review was modfied by poster @ 05-22-12 11:47 PM

Comment:
This CPU is great, though it has been getting bashed a lot because it is slightly slower in some scenarios than the Phenom equivalent. Its not a huge difference from the Phenom so I wouldn't waste money upgrading from that model but if you have a really bad CPU choose this one as an upgrade. Its so easy to overclock and it has no problems playing anything.

Cons: not an 8 core :)

Pros: Easy to OverclockReasonable price
Comment:
Bang for the buck I felt this was the best upgrade to my 4 core 2.8ghz, and it is working out that way. Yeah it would be great if I had an 8 core, but I also have $100+ extra bucks in my pocket, and the fact you can easily overclock it makes it worth it.I know some people are bashing on the Bulldozer line but I have no complaints, I have been an AMD follower for years now and the few times I have strayed into a INTEL build I get nothing but issues.I have had no such issues with this chip so I recommend it as a budget upgrade, well worth the $150 I paid

Cons: Not as strong performance as other chips in this price bracket, power consumption increases significantly with larger overclocks

Pros: Easily overclocks to speeds >4ghz, decent stock heatsink, easy upgrade for AM3+ owners
Comment:
Many people have been bashing on the Bulldozer chips, and not entirely without reason, however I've found this worked as a good upgrade to my older system, and I really enjoy overclocking this - especially with its unlocked multiplier. With stock voltages, I've had no problem hitting around 4000 mhz, and with a VERY minor voltage bump am doing a torture test now at 4200-ish which currently appears to be stable (running prime 95 Small FFTs on all six 'cores')I've found that in most performance applications, the load is on the GPU, so I haven't always noticed an improvement, but in many cases I have noticed things going quicker, especially tasks like Unrar-ing large (4+ gb) archives, and database tasks. Gaming it performs great, though obviously as I mentioned earlier this is far more GPU-tied. The stock heatsink I only used very briefly, but it sustained good temps. I am using a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus now though because the stock cooler is on the louder side.
