Cons: Needs custom cooling, won't overclock at 5ghz, power hungry

Pros: Super fast, high clock speeds 8 cores

I should have read more reviews before taking the plunge on this cpu. Essentially you are getting an over volted 8300 series cpu that needs to be watercoold. I am running this cpu in a gigabyte 990fxa ud5 board with a custom water cooling loop with 3 R9's. Right out of the gate I had horrible stability issues. The cpu would overheat or lock up even though my other watercooled components were fine. After 2 months of on and off messing around and reading countless forum posts on the stability of this cpu I narrowed it all down to the Cpu Load line settings and the Cpu Vore voltage settings. Turns out this cpu only likes vcore voltages of 1.5 or less. Anything more then that and the cpu will flake and experience voltage drop  offs. With this gigabyte board I had to set my load line to high to get the cpu to run without locking up. according to resources on the Web, I found this cpu was not meant to be overclocked to 5ghz and left at that, it was meant to turbo to 5ghz on a few cores for short bursts. During testing of my 5ghz over clock cores 3 and 4 would consistently fail if pushed for any length of time in both Prime 95 testing and real world video encoding. However at 4.9 ghz they would run all day no issues. After getting the voltages just right (-0.025 Vcore undervolt) this cpu runs at 18 degrees at idle and 45 degrees under full load at overclock of 4.9ghz. Based on my time in with this cpu I would highly recommend that you do your research on your motherboard before buying this cpu. Yes this gigabyte board is compatible however the bios is a beta bios. Based on my research make sure the board in compatible or you will just have headaches.

Cons: biggest watt, used a 750w psu minimum. Need a lot mass air flow or a good watercooling system.

Pros: lost cost fast cpu with watercooled, extremely fast. I will buy it again!

used with a gigabyte 990fxa-ud7 motherboard with gskill rampage 1866 2x8gb and gtx 980. Excellent pc for gaming. it's a good heater during hot summer day in a room.

Cons: Energy hungry beast. I use an Antec Kuhler H2O 650 and it stays colder than blood.

Pros: Cheap, powerful and fast.
Comment:
Great fast cpu. Use a quality motherboard and power supply (at least 750 watts) because 220 watts for a CPU is a lot otherwise no complaints.

Cons: Loves power and you need at least a 750 to 1000 watt power supply to allow for other components etc.

Pros: This AMD FX processor rocks! Is absolutely rock solid at 5Ghz with temperature not exceeding 45C under load. Must use liquid cooling along with plenty of cross flow air in case. Installed on a Asus Sabertooth 990 R2, 16 gigs of 1866 memory, and a EVGA 760SC 4 gig video card. Can overclock to about 5.3 Ghz stable. Best Amd processor to date, and it beats intel relative to price and is somewhere between a high end intel I5 and mid range intel I7.
Comment:
For me, this processor gives ample performance for the dollar paid to play 98% of the PC based games at full throttle, video editing, sound editing, and the normal office type applications. AutoCAD just rocks under 3d construction.Love to know what AMD is planning for the next FX series or new high end processor. There FM2 processors are meek in comparison.

Cons: 220W is alot of energy!

Pros: BLAZING fast, much cheaper then Intel's

This this is a absolute beast! I did have a I-7 2600K overclocked and this smashes it. 8 cores, not every APP can use 8 cores now. But with AMD 8 cores in PS4 and the Xbox One 8 cores will be in more games. I love this chip!

I had bought a z87 motherboard and the new haswell i7 4770K the first 4770k did not overclock at all so bought one more and that one was the same!!! Decided to try the Amd 9590 and it blows the 4770k out the door!!! Prime 95 for 2 hours and at 5g and only 48c i do have a custom water loop.Don't listen to the Intel fans out there i used to be one but no more!!!!!!!
