Cons: Coil Whine and low quality fans

This is a great card made by XFX! It runs most high end games at extreme graphics. In the performance area I got no problems.Under heavy load it would start to make electrical squealing noises (coil whine). ex. during Windows Assessment (Experience Index)It seems perhaps the card has been "broken in" because it doesn't squeal, or it makes the tiniest amount of squealing. coil whine could have been coming from PSU but I'm very sure it was not.during startup the bearings on the fans on the graphics card will make noise. As if it's wearing out. if I leave it long enough the noise stops. The fan bearings started making noise about 1-2 months after purchase.Unless coil whine is normal, it seems to be with these cards. I don't think I would buy another 7950 from XFX I don't want to replace the fans. But I will be buying more 7950's :D |

Cons: Artifacts (solved with driver update)

Upgraded from a 6770 single setup. Performance in Hitman: Absolution dramatically went smoother. Able to play at ultra setting with 4XMSAA m 1680x1050. Artifacts observed but went away after driver update to 12.104. Great card, happy with purchase! |

Cons: Fans woefully inadequate with temperatures reaching 90-95C; cheap brushless fans which both broke in two months
Pros: It's a 7950; voltage control; VRM cooling Comment:
Fans broke in one month of purchase. Be aware that they are brushless and that if they are not pointing directly down they will fail in weeks. XFX is replacing the entire heatsink for me under warranty.The stock cooling is also generally poor; at times gaming I would hit 90-95C in the summer with the VRMs approaching 100C. This is with the fan speed on 100%. The card would then crash. I won't buy XFX cards again until they start learning to use fast fluid bearing fans in their cards. |

This is my second purchase of this card to run crossfire on my eyefinity setup, which helps tremendously for running such a high resolution. The graphics are amazing and can (now) keep up on the face paced motion of my racing games across all 3 screens. |

Cons: Had driver issues,had to install catalyst version 12.3 to get hdmi audio working.

Other than the driver issue which a lot of new cards have,the card works flawlessly which i am quite happy about.I would buy this card again and hopefully by that point the drivers get fixed.The double d fans are quiet until under extreme load but at that point no other cards are quiet either.So over all can't complain and very happy.I did not get any high pitched whine from the fans even under load,which in my books says "CUDOS". |
Other than the "non-standard" power plugs from the PSU everything is smooth and performing awesome. Bought it has a surprise deal for 199$ after 30$ MIR! Awesome deal for such a card.Since the new R9 280 is the exact same card as the exiting 7970 and that the 7950 can be overclocked easily to reach the 7970's numbers... well.... why pay more for the new cards?!
