Cons: cpu overheating and system freeze

Pros: Good Overall
Comment:
HI i bought this laptop like a month and a half ago, i have this weird problem with my laptop. I play games with it and Very often the game freezes and makes weirds sounds while it freezes. I can't use alt+tap to get out or can't even get task manager to close the game. I think its like Graphic failure or something. I play online games and NBA 2K11. I have another laptop from MSI GX660dx or something and i never had this system failure before. But with this i get it. I called Asus company and asked them about this, and they just asked me to reboot the system. So i did, but still there is this system failure. Can any Technicion from NCIX explain or solve what is wrong with ma laptop?

Cons: Some people complain about issue with the pin where it might come offIs heavy and I mean heavyBad battery life (That's expect)Tons of bloatware (come on this is somewhat a high end laptop do we really need all these junk on the computer).

Pros: Powerful1080PRuns quietNot too hotBig HDKeyboard feels nice
Comment:
Had this laptop for a few days. Play any times I throw at it with no issue. Keyboard feels good and 1080p screen is hard to come by for a 15inch laptop. It runs very quiet (Heck the GTX 460 in my desktop makes more noise). However this thing weight a ton and have poor battery life but that's expected out of a gaming laptop. I also hate how there are so many junk software. Took a while to clean them all out. Why is there bloatware on this anyways? It cost almost the same an alienware but Alienware have no junk software. For those considering buying this laptop at regular, you might want to look at the newer generation of the Asus G53JW. Cons: We've been having a lot of problems with getting it to work for a long period of time.

Pros: It's a excellent laptop when it works.
Comment:
With in 3 weeks of buying this laptop a hard disk failure occurred which caused me to have to send it back to get a new one. It took over a month to get anything back and when we did the the new laptop and power cord was extremely touchy and had to be in just the right position in order to get AC power. Within 3 months the part within the laptop that accepts power from the cord got stuck in the power cord and came out, thus we now have to send the laptop back again for repair. It was a good laptop when it worked but it doesn't seem to work to often and I would not recommend it to anyone.

Cons: - A bit tedious to disassemble to add RAM and Harddrive (although this fairly easy)- Trackpad buttons a bit hard to press- Heavy (8lbs, battery alone is 1lb)- Power plug location may get in the way of your mouse (not a big deal though)- Attracts fingerprints if left uncleaned for a while- Due to high screen resolution typical font size may seem small, takes time to get used to.- Large Power Brick, but does not get as hot as some other smaller power bricks from other companies.

Pros: - Amazing Processor, 4 cores (8 virtual threads)- Amazing GPU, can handle every game I've thrown at it so far on high rez, look up youtube videos about this- Decent amount of ram, if you need to upgrade the ram use the following: "Kingston 4GB 1X4GB 1333MHZ DDR3 NON-ECC CL9 SODIMM Memory Module" on this website.- Very good cooling system (fairly quite)- Numpad, quite keyboard- Very durable build- Amazing screen resolution, True HD
Comment:
I love this laptop. I got it when it first came out and so far have upgraded the ram from 4gb, to 12gb using the Kingston ram on this website mentioned above. Also I installed a 2nd harddrive so I have a total of 1TB of internal memory. It was fairly easy although you'll need to be careful to not lose any screws when disassembling.Games and HD movies look amazing on this laptop and the cooling system does an amazing job while not being too loud!I run a lot of my programs on this for school such as MATLAB, CATIA, ANSYS. These programs usually take a very long time to run on other computers as they are very grueling but this laptop handles them amazing well! This laptop will last me for a very long time before I even think about getting anything new.

Pros: Very fastVery nice Screen
Comment:
Bought this for my wife. We wanted something she could play sims 3, WOW etc on when we went on a trip. This laptop is GREAT! It's not small and the battery doesn't last very long when playing a game but what do you really expect with a gaming laptop. The mouse that came with it was a wired USB mouse would have been nice to get a BlueTooth being as the laptop has that built in but I understand keeping costs down. Comes with a nice backpack though. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good gaming laptop!

Cons: Touchpad is "just OK", buttons are nice and firm but not so much that you have to really push to get it to click (ASUS 1000HE anyone?)TONS of bloatware, everything from AV's to Diner Dash to disc label utilities. Took me hours to remove it all. Some of the ASUS ulities caused problems. I was getting FPS issues until I uninstalled ASUS Power4Gear management system. Go ahead and remove that as soon as you get it.

Pros: FAST!! This notebook has been able to handle everything I've thrown at it without struggle (Black Ops, TF2, BFBC2, Plants vs Zombies ([OK OK, I just had to throw that in])750GB hard drive (partitioned into 500GB data and 175GB OS)Excellent build quality, by far the most solid feeling notebook I've ever used. Hinge is extremely sturdy.Keyboard is fantastic. Little to no flex and the buttons are the chicklet style. I was able to become accustomed to the feel of the keyboard very quickly. I'm a difficult person to please when it comes to notebook keyboard but this gets two giant thumbs up from me.Very quiet. I was honestly expecting a monster fan when this thing heated up but it's still what I would consider "quiet" in comparison to my desktop PC. I honestly expected more noise and was pleasently suprised at how little noise is created.Illuminated keyboard is just right on the money. Has 4-5 brightness settings and it looks amazing.Always cool palm rest isn't just a marketing scam. I've played for 3+ hours straight and it feels just as cool as when I booted up.2 year global warranty with free 2 way shipping.1 Year accidental damage warrantyRazer Abyssus mouse and Backpack included. Backpack has tons of room with lots of pockets/pouches.

Cons: Bulky for a 15.6" laptop, Battery Life

Pros: Powerful, High Resolution LCD, Backlit Keyboard, USB3.0 and BT, Great Value
Comment:
This is definitely a gaming laptop and a desktop replacement laptop. If you're looking to do computing on the go, this isn't for you. You need to have this plugged in or you'll only get max 2 hours battery life. With that being said, this is a GAMING LAPTOP! (/cheer). The combo of the i7-740 and 460M make for a potent combination for most gaming apps. So far I've played WoW and Starcraft 2 and both run without any issues at 1080p on max settings.I orginally purchased the XR1 version of this laptop, but quickly realized the A1 is a far better deal. For the extra $200, you get a Razer Abyssus Gaming Mouse, a Acer branded Targus back pack, 2 GB more RAM, 250GB bigger HDD, and built-in Bluetooth and an additional year of warranty. The monitor is very crisp and accurate. The resolution is great, however the viewing angles leave a bit to be desired. (What do you expect at this price point?)I appreciate that there's one USB 3.0 port. Will make using an external HDD more bearable. Some issues: This laptop is not small and is somewhat bulky for a 15.6" laptop. This is only slightly smaller than it's 17" bigger brother (G73JW). Upgrading the RAM and HDD will require taking the laptop apart and removing the keyboard. I haven't done this yet, but you can see the convoluted process by doing a google search. Can be a bit loud when pushing CPU or GPU to higher temperatures. Fairly quiet under normal operation.
