Totally the most “POWERFUL” board I’ve ever owned. Installed, powered up and haven’t looked back considering that. Ran it straight up to 4.01GHz on i7 920 with x21 multiplier and twoɊ ratio, dropped my GEIL Black Dragon RAM from 1333MHz to 1146MHz with Cas Latency 7! Have not had to adjust any voltages whatsoever. Unheard of at these speeds. I am using all ten SATA Ports with no a hitch. None. Have utilized GIGABYTE On-line E-mail TECH Support for a couple of inquiries. GIGABYTE responded in a most timely manner answering all my queries. This board is very higher high quality.Newegg's delivery time was spot on!

This is an exceptional board. 980X overclocking gave me an extra 200MHz utilizing the identical settings I utilized on the older EX58-UD5 predecessor. The LoadLine Calibration is more refined with two levels accessible as an alternative of only off/on. PCIe voltage regulation has been redesigned to help better overclocking and has no trouble supporting a GTX 480 with a high CPU overclock. To all 980X owners (including future six-core Intel processors). Prior to you get this board make positive you have access to a Core i7 920. Newegg is nonetheless shipping X58A boards that use the F1 BIOS, and the board will not POST with any six-core processor installed. A i7 920묺 is required to enable the board to POST just before you can reflash the BIOS to a compatible version. I locate it unacceptable this board is advertised as supporting hex-core processors, but ships with an incompatible BIOS that does not function with them. If you run into this issue, you will get a Post Code 68 error (not covered in the manual). Caveat emptor, most new X58A boards are affected if they ship with a pre-production level F1 BIOS.

Sata3, usb3, many sata connectors, post code on board, and numerous led to monitor the mobo feelings (a.k.a temp, voltage, OC) and good heatsinks on majors components. Noisy mobo, we hear hissing/squealing near the CPU location. On high hdd activities that noise is a way a lot noticable. (UD3 and UD5 seems each have similar concern)See topic 1426 on official GB forum for much more infos about this problem. Personnally, i recommend the asus P6X58D premium or P6X58D-E more than X58-UD5, since numerous people have that problem with ud3/ud5 and giga-byte doesn't have fixed the problem (see forum, topic 1426) Manufacturer Response:Thank you for your comments. Really nice board, has lots of connections and ports and good layout other than the 1394 if you're employing SLI configuration. Gigabyte support is non existant. Again if you're using SLI the 1394 is covered up and can't be employed. Negative placement there. No issues with other ports. The difficulty I at present have is I have 24 gigs of ram on this.Windows 7 64 bit.The system reads 24 gigs but says 16 usable, Have carried out all the normal things such as the web page file, virtual memory and so on etc.I went into the bios there is no remapping choice, the bios shows six slots, all the dimm slots study with the suitable four gigs. But underneath it says enabled memory slots, only slot 1 - four active, the manual shows no way to modify it, bios has no selections to alter it, I looked on the internet site there is no information for this, looked on message boards and forums, men and women stating there is no fix and gigabyte doesn't respond. On other pcs I was able to fix this quickly by means of bios or just the method management itself, but this time I cannot get it to function, sent to e-mails to gigabyte, each ignored just like they mentioned on message boards. I don't know what else to do other than return it and just get a different board. I tried upgrading the bios as effectively similar situation. Manufacturer Response:Thank you for your comments. Board does specifically what I need it to do. RAID set up was a breeze and performs with only minor hangups with 2 OCZ SSDs. Two raptors in RAID running OSX have zero issues. All 6 mem slots detected the memory and are performing effectively at 1066 and 7-7-7-2X latency.I use the board for casual gaming, 3DS Max, CLC Genomics, Summit, FlowJo, and Vector NTI. PCI layout is not the most conducive for SLI / Xfire customers. South Bridge runs hot, even although the mosfets and NB stay cool. CPU socket may possibly be as well close to RAM for some of the bigger aftermarket coolers. Lots of difficulty overclocking my i7 950 for some cause... too considerably voltage for tiny gains. Paired w 12gb corsair dominators, Gigabyte silent 9800GT. Installing OSX as a second operating program was a kakewalk with this board, only two points did not work OOB.I use the board for casual gaming, 3DS Max, CLC Genomics, Summit, FlowJo, and Vector NTI.

Was able to run memtest with a passing mark, and booted each stick of RAM a single at a time and discovered no DIMM would be recognized by the center channel. Ensured no bent socket pins. No overclocking.-A squealing/electrical/whining buzz emanated from the CPU socket when beneath load at default speeds. A rapid search on the internet showed other X58A UD5R and some UD3R are obtaining this issue. Seems to be a faulty coil or voltage regulator whenever Intel's Speed Step function is in action. NewEgg was fantastic to let an RMA and is looking over their consumers from what are apparent solution defects. I seriously like the Board and I am hoping that I just got 1 of the bad batches. But on the other hand the Board has wasted hours of my time troubleshooting. When someone spends practically 跌 you anticipate a functional motherboard appropriate out of the box. I don't feel I'd go with Gigabyte in the future due to my poor knowledge with their solution.

I in no way write testimonials but I have to this time. I built my dream Windows 7 program this week such as an Intel six core extreme processor, Gigabyte motherboard, 18GB’s RAM and two Vital RealSSD C300 SATA3 drives. This program is everything I could have wanted. It opens any Workplace 2010 64bit application in much less than 1 second, runs various VM Workstation guest OS’es with out even breaking a sweat, and Adobe products are the best they have ever been. I Hugely suggest the Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5 drives to absolutely everyone!!! This motherboard came flashed with a OLD bios! This BIOS did not support the six core processor. Huge Issue. I had to come across someone with a 1366 chip to that the board supported to flash it for me. :( Windows 7 ranks this motherboard with processor as a 7.eight Ɨ.9 being the greatest)

I was seeking for a strong system for household workplace. I've built quite a few systems over the years, and traditionally have utilized Intel boards. Decided to look elsewhere this time, and Gigabyte has outstanding features (lots of SATA, and so forth.). Nevertheless, I was a bit concerned about moving away from my lengthy-time favored.Very first impressions are outstanding: packing is wonderful, as is documentation. Installation was basic. Board is extremely-properly laid out.Powered proper up. six-disk technique, with two set up as RAID0. Operates like a champ. Right after 3 weeks, I like it so much I bought a second a single for my office at function. If you're on the fence about Gigabyte's high quality, overlook it: this is a incredibly solid board.Just for reference, I utilized an i7-950, Kingston 1033 3x2GB RAM and a Gigabyte/ATI 5870 video card. Amazing functionality. I honestly can\'t believe of any. This program was my initial from NewEgg... and I am fully sold. Good costs, outstanding service.

functions fantastic so far, proper now I am just concerned with obtaining a stable program, haven't attempted overclocking however. I can say that the audio is great coming from the optical out. I haven't accomplished any benchmarks with the sata rev. three I don't know if it is a challenge with the heatsink(stock from intel) or the motherboard, but it won't connect on all four pins, I can only get 3 down. Worked properly with hackintosh, got every little thing up and running, despite the fact that audio took a whilst. Apparently hackintoshing is less difficult with the ex58-ud5.

Has every little thing you need to have.. overclock seems simple sufficient, appears excellent, bios is the usual gigabyte stuff. Error code display, power button onboard, Bios reset button at the back, 6 slot of memory, USB three., enough add-on card slots, a lot of numerous sata ports.. yay! : ) Videocard goes on top rated of sata plugs, so if you want to alter your sata connections, you have to eliminate the videocard. Floppy plug is way as well far. My mouse stops working 1 out of 10 boots. Have to unplug it and replug. Possibly a driver concern, but I feel it's hardware. Following 1.5 month, became defective. From the start it had weird behavior, when cold start out. It would say mainly because of overclock the board didn't boot nicely... even if practically nothing was overclocked? then after 1.five month it started that shutdown thingy. It's been diagnosed, it's seriously the board. If I shutdown the computer system either with windows or the energy button (single press), it would turn off entirely, then immediately after three-4 seconds turn itself back on!!! Really terrible engineering, all their boards might have this issue.. eh. Check the net for cold begin issue, you'll see what I mean.guess I'll RMA... I greater have bought an intel, even if it had significantly less functions The southbridge, the ICH10R really rocks. the other (gigabyte, marvell) sata chips are significantly slower in term of raid performance.Tried with 2 disk Raid on all 3 sata controllers, and the ich10r was much faster.I got 450mb/s study speed (hd tune) with 4 affordable disks ࿜$ each) with the ich10r.. now that's some critical speed O.o.I believe more affordable disk in raid is still more rapidly than 10k or 15k rpm drives.. perhaps not in access time, but hey, if you want significant access time get a flash drive (and backup typically, lol). Strong board even if you don't will need USB three./SATA3., and im using neither of those features. Comes with each feature imaginable, and an in depth and highly configurable BIOS Positioning of the PCI x1 slots causes one to be blocked by NB heatsink. the previous generation board presented a x2 slot, this a single only has 1 x1 slot. The slot that is blocked by the NB, what was supposed to be plugged in here? Typical cards won't fit, extremely useless. The board also shipped with F1 bios, and i bought this with a gulftown ꀔ), which wasn't compatible. Luckily i had an 45nm i7 lying about that i utilised to update the BIOS to F5, otherwise this would have been an RMA.Dear Gigabyte: I believe its time to get rid of floppy drive connector, IDE connector, and even PCI. the board has a USB 3. controller and a floppy connector? a single last comment, i am obtaining difficulty with obtaining lower latency ram to operate, haven't really figured out the ideal combination of voltages. This appears to be a lot more a black art rather than anything certain. If you raise QPI/VTT and mem ctrl voltage you can get it steady, but i was possessing concerns with my video card (nvidia 280) exactly where the screen would go black and all video output would shut down, but i am not sure its related.

Quality construction, lots of functions. I come from the original EX58-UD5 board, so I am really familiar with this a single. Marvel SATA3 controller does not perform with RAID SSDs. I learned this right after I bought the board (it is clearly written on the Gigabyte website, so it's my fault for not catching it), but I was truly excited about seeing 700+mb/s sequential reads from my 2 C300 SSDs. I guess I'm stuck with 575mb/s on the ICHR10 /sigh Plugging in a new i7 970 and hoping to get four+GHz out of it. The only reason I didn't think about Sandybridge was simply because I not too long ago purchased a 12GB triple-channel kit for my original board, and then sold that board to my parents with a spare 6GB kit I had, along with my i7 920. Pondering I could finally see the complete potential of my C300s, I figured this board would be perfect. Sadness ensues :(
