Cons: - audio definition not great- low frequencies non existent

Pros: - volume control- headphone jack- wood finish
Comment:
It should be noted that I picked these up on sale for 30$. At first I didn't think much of them and contemplated returning them cause I was comparing music that I always listen on my pioneer headset. But after a few days and comparing them with the Logitech LS21, I can say they can produce a wider frequency range and audio sounds a bit cleaner. The bass is not great but the ports try really hard to give a bit of bass. It would have been a 3 star but I gave it a 4 star only because of the 30$ price tag.

Cons: none yet :)

Pros: Fantastic construction, very heavy duty. I love the wood finish! really great sound quality as well
Comment:
This is a great set of desktop or Laptop speakers for home desk. Excellent sound quality from them, and very solid construction. Highly recommend to purchase at the sale price while you still can. I would even go so far to say that they would be worth the full price if you don't want the 2.1 sub woofer bass or the 5.1 systems. These are great for apartments!

Cons: Honky mid-range, ragged highs

Pros: Inexpensive, ok bass response, very nice build quality
Comment:
A good example of how there are always compromises in low-end audio. For $40 sale these are pretty appealing in the target market.First off, the build quality is very, very good. Too good. Solid volume pot, with solid and weighted cabinetry. Angled design and vinyl finish is attractive.Unfortunately, the "horn port" bleeds out copious amounts of mid-range, making the already high-mid challenged drivers more ragged. One might suggest a tweeter would help, but to be honest it needs a different driver.Which is where the discussion turns to compromises. The designers of this product wanted something with better low end punch, impact and build quality than you normally expect out of this price point. But to gain those 2 pros it seems to me they had to compromise on the mid and high-mid performance in driver selection. All said, you might not mind the sound of the speakers, especially at this price point. But more interestingly, the cabinetry and amplification is good enough it might be worth swapping the driver our for a different one, say a HiVi B3N or some tang-band 3' and modifying the port.
