I does perform just drops packets from time to time. The difficulty is when you daisy chain them collectively. I have 1 linked into my router, a connection from that switch to each my living room and server closet, and a switch in the server room and closet. That's three switches tied into one particular if your maintaining track. I stream videos from my server more than gig-E to living area to watch on my television working with plex. Off and on the videos will lock up and take forever to stream. I looked into every little thing and lastly narrowed it down to this switch. I used a network evaluation tool to test transfer prices. This switch 10럼񲿘 = Avg about 600kfive year old 10럼 switch = 3mb sustained. The only thing I changed was the switch throughout the tests. I will under no circumstances get netgear right after all of the aggravation this switch has caused me.

It's a switch. It does what it's supposed to do. Drops Xbox Reside connection at random. Drops Steam connection as well. (though not as often as Xbox) When there's no activity on the ports, it's supposed to automatically turn them off to save power. Nevertheless no matter what I do, I can't restore these ports with out unplugging the switch itself.(This is immediately after hours of no usage. If I do it suitable away, it functions fine) I known as Netgear to see if something like this has happened like this before. They said they have no record of it in the past. They also said there is no troubleshooting guide readily available for this switch.(They just try to see if the rest of your setup is appropriate)I'm going to RMA this unit and hope that the next is OK. If not, I'll be searching for one from another manufacturer. On a side note, they also said there may be compatibility troubles amongst the Xbox and the switch. I found this kind of funny due to the fact there's actually a image of an Xbox 360 on the instruction sheet!Setup: Verizon Router->Switch->PC, Xbox 360 All systems on the network have static IPs.

little and affordable following nearly a year I got tired of intermittent disconnects or 100mb/s rather than gb connections. With a number of Computer's and cables giving the exact same symptoms on this switch, and not on a similar Netgear router, it seemed fairly clear this was a warranty replacement problem. NetGear could not realize that logic.I have heard that my v2 unit has been updated with a newer version, but don't know if that fixed the disconnects. Sounds though like Netgear must just replace all older units with new ones for this rather broadly reported symptom though.

Incredibly continent and beneficial, suited my needs for a Gigabit switch completely! Indicator lights on front show what is connected, which speed, and transfer price perfectly. If I could set regardless of whether it was Gigabit or 100 mbit... Also, it occasionally shows a connection as one hundred mbit when it is essentially Gigabit. Not DualNet compatible.

Gigabit, cost hot to touch

Review Date: 07/25/13
Works good in every single way. None.

Review Date: 07/22/13
It does perform at 100 mbps speeds After a week, only 2 ports nonetheless function at 1000 mbs; don't waste your funds. Runs hot hot hot! Attempt a various brand, this is total junk

none I was shipped a V2 which is smaller sized than my older GS605 which has no version number. I have had no problems with my older GS605. The V2 would not reliably negotiate the links as 1G when the GS605 was powered on 1st and the PCs powered on second. This is essential simply because the switch usually stays powered on.I tested by replacing my old GS605 with the new GS605 V2 in my existing network. When 1G hyperlinks came up as ten럼Mb, pulling the energy connector and plugging it back in would result in the 1G hyperlinks to properly come up 1G. At times disconnecting and reconnecting the RJ-45s would also correct the speed to 1G. The other end of the link were 2 Marvell Yukon 88E8001 on ASUS motherboards and 1 Intel Pro 1000 in an IBM ThinkPad. I consider the Intel Pro 1000 link usually came up 1G but I cannot keep in mind for certain.2 ports were ten럼 to my router and a ten럼 switch; this is only to indicate that there was a mix of 1G and ten럼 connections to the five ports on the GS605 V2. The NewEgg RMA procedure seems to perform smoothly.

Cheap, modest profile, and attractive case. I have a little wired network in my house that I use for my property primarily based modest enterprise. I needed a second switch to connect a cluster of devices on the far end of my property. This unit did the job and five ports was all I necessary. The device is ideal. Nevertheless, the mail in rebate knowledge is exceptionally tedious. 1st, log into a web site and register the rebate. Second, cut out a piece of the box and mail it to a rebate center. Third, wait and verify the web page, wait more and check the web site, wait even more and verify the internet site. Rebate ultimately authorized, but, er ..., now I have to wait for them to mail me a plastic debit card. Fourth, wait for card and check usps mailbox, hold checking, then maintain checking, and then preserve checking. Plastic debit card arrives, excellent, er ..., I order a burger with it and the clerk looks oddly at the card with a "what the heck is this?" sort of stare. "How substantially is on the card?", she asked. How do I know? I mailed in the rebate 50 days ago. I go home, log into the rebate internet site, find out how significantly is on the card, and ultimately order my burger. This is an awful lot of function to basically get a absolutely free hamburger. This rebate procedure is horrible.

It is a standard Auto Sensing switch. No config needed. none

The cables come out the back and the status lights are on the front -- that's nice for desktop use.Oh, and it didn't spontaneously burst into flames or infest my network with viruses. These a great factors, I believe. This -- issue -- can only transfer at about 20kB/sec. Yes, 20 KILObytes! This was verified using several systems with distinct Ethernet hardware and operating systems Ɠ Linux distros, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows XP.) The fairly white and grey Netgear boxes look to be incredibly hit-or-miss. All of the consumer grade Netgear stuff I';ve had has been garbage like this switch, or has died within a year. I only use their additional robust ProSafe line in the metal situations.Do your self a favor and commit the additional funds for a more trusted item.

Absolutely free Shipping, Performs Good!! Just hook it up and it operates!! Quickly! Really like the ports on the back of the unit. Rebate is a present card, that I still have'nt got however. Gets a little warm, but I under no circumstances notice it. Now I want I would have gotten 1 with additional ports, perhaps the eight instead of the five, but works wonderful.

Gigabit Speed for a good price tag. Really reliable. Non come to mind. Have had this device for three months and like most of my other NetGear gear, has proven trustworthy.

Review Date: 06/13/13
I've been working with two of these due to the fact 2007 and have never ever had a dilemma. They're essentially plug and play, never ever had to trouble shoot. The switch automatically figures out which ports go to your devices and which connect to the router... amazingly sensible devices for switching masses of devices from wireless to wired network. none Bought two these when I started acquiring frustrated with bandwidth limitations of my wireless network... they're really good. Make positive you purchase Cat 5e or Cat 6 cable even though... otherwise forget gigabit connection.Also... I was a bit surprised to see that they are just as costly now as when I bought them in 2007

Review Date: 06/08/13
It's gigabit. It switches. It's a pretty little size. The value was amazing. It could glow in the dark. No, not with leds, that's cheesey, I'm speaking very good old fashioned glow in the dark like the free of charge stickers in cereals.

Review Date: 05/22/13
Wonderful switch, straightforward to open packaging and box, but keeps the switch secure at the similar time. Worked proper out of the box plugged in my Ethernet from my router plugged in my 360 and pc both worked instantaneously Haven't but gotten the 10 dollar card, but I only received the switch a day ago, so hopefully it will come.

Review Date: 05/17/13
I really like these tiny buggers. I have 5 in my network. I use them to split the ethernet cables. Good speed. Good for like 30some bucks. I did have a issue with a single of mine, it just dropped signals. Not confident what the deal was. 4 out of five is nonetheless excellent even though.

Review Date: 05/12/13
Lasted just over 2 years without a hitch. Even my fastest hard drives and raid in no way hit a speed ceiling on it. Is hanging at least when an hour then dropping connections. Port 3 appears to be worse then the other people. When I move all computers to a separate router I can transfer for hours with no interruptions. As well undesirable I went by means of 50$ worth of cable and NIC cards attempting to solve the problem under no circumstances thinking it was this previously trustworthy switch all along. Fairly sure it is out of warranty and even if not i replaced/upgraded for the cost of warranty shipping, to say absolutely nothing of avoiding the inevitable telephone calls and hassle. I went with a Trendnet as an alternative.

Review Date: 05/09/13
Low(er) expense. Fast, when it performs. Small and cute. Runs quite warm. Usually has a tendency to not work. This is the second GS605 I've had. The very first 1 stopped operating following two weeks of use - energy light on, all connection lights dark. I went through the Netgear RMA process and, soon after 1-two weeks, got a brand new one as a replacement. The new one particular had the same issues following three days of activity.I would devote an additional ŭ-ten to get a distinct brand - which I did, even just before I got the replacement.

3 months and still functioning, never had to reset/recycle energy yet. I have heavy website traffic via it alot, like HD video streaming from 1 Pc storage to yet another. Like the green is gigabit orange is megabit identification. So I know it's operating. extremely light, cables behind it drags it off my table. Place anything heavy on prime to steady it. There should be a product that's equivalent to paper weight, referred to as switch weight. I regret not acquiring the version with much more ports, five is just not adequate any longer!

Review Date: 04/21/13
Product includes a lot of ports. As mentioned this solution gets hot. Even sitting in a 75 degree room on top rated of a 8 inch fan, this item will shut itself down / fail many occasions a day EVEN IF ALL CONNECTED SYSTEMS ARE OFF. I designed a problems ticket at netgear and the response was for me to move the device to a unique out let preferably on a various breaker. Most of us are not prepared to reroute an complete network for a ุ switch. I have several net admin degrees/certs and have worked with 3 phase wire installations for years.I will by no means acquire or advocate to any of my consumers on any continent we service any netgear product ever once again. The switch is poor adequate, but the inexcusable response from their tech assistance is even worse.

Review Date: 04/04/13
Great piece of gear for a excellent price tag. Was quite a lot plug and play when I took it out of the box. What else could you want. None so far

Review Date: 03/30/13
Had a netgear lengthy ago, attempted a dlink and went back to netgear. Excellent interface, strong speed and efficiencyTruly like that I can transform network settings (such as mac address allocations or port forwarding) and the device does NOT reset just about every single time. Occasionally requires a reset, normally when each three months or so.

Review Date: 03/29/13
What a surprise, it nonetheless functions! Even so, I don't suggest purchasing 1. It's a Netgear I have had terrible luck with Netgear, I purchased their N draft wireless router and it died immediately after 14 months ƒ months beyond warranty). I bought a couple of their N cardbus cards also and they are junk as properly. This is the only Netgear item that I nonetheless have that actually functions appropriately. This item is possibly produced by some other organization beneath contract for Netgear, hehe.

Review Date: 03/27/13
Though only had this for a few days, I enjoy it. Plugged it in and added my equipment and it's as simple as set it and overlook it, operates flawlessly! Small, strong and sturdy...and performs really effectively; no bottlenecks. None I normally maintain all my boxes when I 1st buy one thing, just in case it does not function. When I took this out of the box and set it up in a few minutes, it worked so properly I threw my box away. Unfortunately I forgot about the rebate ྪ bucks) and necessary the UPC code. Despite the fact that this initially ticked me off, it lasted only a handful of minutes because I am so happy with the product!
