Cons: None.

Pros: No-brainer setup, nice design, Gigabit, just works
Comment:
Needed a switch to prevent running 3 cables 30' through a wall into another room. This is connected to a Netgear WND4500 router, and has a desktop PC, multifunction printer, and a powerline ethernet adapter attached. Very quickly populated 4 of the 5 ports, so this was the 'right sized' switch for our needs. Setup couldn't be easier - things don't get more plug-and-play than this!I had considered a significantly more expensive managed switch, but couldn't justify the added cost for control I don't really need and would probably never (or rarely) use.If you're looking for simple Gigabit switch, you won't be disappointed in this one.

Cons: It's white

Pros: Solid Netgear switch. Has little feet so the switch stands vertically rather than lying it down
Comment:
I've used Netgear stuff in the past and have been happy with its performance. I needed a simple gigabit switch to replace an aging SMC and decided to give this a shot. It works well.

Got it to go behind my linksys and voip routers. works well no complaints at all. Had a competitors product which really had crappy throughput but this is doing quite well.

Cons: Runs VERY hot.

Pros: Great features for the price. Totally plug and play.
Comment:
This switch ran absolutely flawlessly for the first 10 months. It ran cool and I never had to reset it for any reason. About two months ago, I started getting dropped connection errors which I isolated to the switch. It was now running quite hot and some ports wouldn't light up even with a cable plugged in. I should've checked the warranty info (lifetime) but my solution was to stick an old Pentium heatsink on the chip and run a power line for the fan from my computer. It's not pretty or totally silent anymore but it does work 100% again.

Comment:
This unit runs cool all the time. The power saving feature is a plus. The auto-gigabit switch worked nicely in my LAN. Would recommend this to anyone. File transfer speed can go up to 90MB/s.

Cons: The "feet" take up too much space

Pros: Stable and fast
Comment:
Fast, stable, and very reasonably priced. Haven't had to reset it all. Runs very cool (energy-saving design) and has an efficient AC adaptor.

Cons: made of plasticeasily tips overruns slightly warm

Pros: good price/performance rationice front bezel as opposed to plain leds
Comment:
Its a pretty good switch - haven't had any problems with it. Transfer rates aren't hitting the maximum that 1Gb allows for but hard to prove whether its software or nic or indeed the switch. Nothing too spectacular - no management, no QOS but for simple home network, it will do the job.

This unit is truly plug-and-play. No special instructions for setup and different colour lights for speed and numbers for the ports.

Pros: Fast, plug and play, silent
Comment:
I am using this router behind my non-Gigabit router, and it really made a difference on my LAN! It's very fast, silent and doesn't get too warm. I also enjoy the aesthetic design of it as it matches my Macbook Pro perfectly. Does exactly what it should, at a great price!

Pros: Price, simple

Picked this switch up on sale and it worked as advertised. I had to snoop around to determine the LED colours for connecting at 1000 versus 100/10 speeds. Its green for 1000baseT , yellow for less. Not all my connections support jumbo frames but all in all it works fine for my purposes. I am mainly doing file transfers and the noted small file efficiency drop  in throughput is noted but could also be do to disk activity and the network pipe wiating for data. Now its wait and see what kind of fun the rebate will be. This review was modfied by poster @ 11-03-08 07:27 AM

Cons: Questionably reliable, extremely inefficient at many small transfers

Pros: Inexpensive, small
Comment:
We have one of these installed at work in a poor environment (dirty, mainly).Transferring large files, I get around 60MB/s (versus 90MB/s with another manufacturer's cheapo switch). If I try and open CAD documents from another computer (thousands of small files) it's BRUTALLY slow (5-7MB/s vs 75MB/s on the other switch). Also, requires weekly rebooting for whatever reason. Looks like I have a lemon, can't do much about it now as we've been dealing with this reliability issue for a few years (since before I worked here).I'd give it 1 star, but I don't know my order ID and NCIX will not allow lower than 3 without it.

Cons: Color Choice (Only White which looks good btw).

Pros: Price, Quality, Small Footprint, Reliability, Jumbo Frame Support.
Comment:
Budget Priced Gigabit Switch that works very good. The speed of my local network is very fast where I can now click on a saved Vob file (DVD Structure) from my Gigabit NAS server and it plays without hiccups. I had several PC's at home that already had onboard Gigabit Ethernet Adapters so utilizing them was worth the cost of this unit.

Works great, just plugged in and everything came up. Showing Link 100 vs 1000 by different colour lets you see at a glance if things are connecting as they should.

All my gigabit machines connect to it at gigabit speeds. No problems whatsoever. Other reviewers complained it runs a bit hot and that was my biggest concern. Well, mine is barely warm even on large transfers.

Works real well had it for almost a month now and so far haven't had any issues even after i stepped on it and dropped it a few times ... don't ask. another person was saying 99% of the time it didn't detect gigabyte Ethernet but it has worked 100% of the time for me so maybe his was defective.

Cons: - does not autodetect Gigabit connections properly

Pros: - silent operation- modern design- can be mounted horizontally or vertical
Comment:
Bought one of these switches primarily for large data transfers on my home network. The switch I bought seems to have a problem auto-detecting Gigabit connections 99% of the time, I have to power the switch off and on in order for it to detect 1000Gb connections which is a bit annoying but not a huge deal. This is the first NetGear product that I've purchased (I usually buy LinkSys or D-Link products), and because of the annoying connection problem I probably will stick the brands I've had the most luck with and avoid NetGear in the future. :-(

Comment:
Great switch here. I didn't have to do anything to set it up, just plug and play. The LEDs are very cool, they light up yellow for 1000 and orange for 100. It's a great way to add gigabit to your network without wasting money on a gigabit router. Connect your existing router to this switch and use the switch to connect to the rest of your network. Now your networked systems can share internet access and transfer at gigabit speeds between one another.

Cons: - Runs a bit hot

Pros: - Fast, supports jumbo frames- Silent operation- Crossover cable autosensing- Vertical stand included
Comment:
This revision of GS605 that NCIX ships does support jumbo frames (the original model, also confusingly called GS605, doesn't). Orange LED indicates 10/100Mbps, green LED indicates 1Gbps. Totally silent operation unlike some other gigabit switches. Small profile, fits well in soho environment.
