This little modem does the job I needed it to do -- connect to dial-up. Since my netbook doesn't have a CD drive, I had to transfer the disc to a flash drive then to the netbook, so it didn't auto-install. Only by trial and error did I discover that the installation program has a name different from that of the product.

Had to install numerous times to get it to work properly. Got an external after my onboard died, for reviews said the external was faster than onboard. The best I get on this one is 38.6kbps and it will not do anything at that speed. Disconnect and reconnect till it gets in the 24-26kbps range, does fine then. Installed on a Systemax Ventura. This modem is apprx four times faster than the old one.

This is a really good product, it does exactly what I need it to do and more. The design of the modem itself is excellent, and not at all difficult to use. You get somewhat of a cool feeling using it, mostly due to a blinking blue light wich lets you know when data is beeing transmitted. The modem also comes with a very usefull program which when properly set, will let you know if there is an incomming call, so you wont miss any calls. Its good suff all around as far as I'm concerned.

I've been using the Hiro v.92 modem every day under Vista without problems for about a month now. I have no complaints -- works as promised. I haven't tried the included software, so I can't comment on that. As an aside, I found the speediest way to websurf on dial-up to use Firefox with the imglikeopera, adblock plus, and flashblock add-ons.

I was looking for a 56K modem, went to TigerDirect store and guy at store said they don't have one in store, I had to order online. Ordered Friday afternoon and modem arrived Tuesday morning amazing!! The modem is small (seems big in picture) but works great. I had to install drivers on windows XP, plug it in and it worked fine. I haven't found any issue so far, except I had to drive to the store and then end up ordering online I am happy with the product.

I hooked up the cables that came with the modem and pluged it into my XP michine and in 15 seconds was on line!!! Very good and do to a lot of thunderstorms in my area I plan on buying 2-3 more!!!! No software needed! THIS IS PLUG-N-PLAY!!!
