-Cost is amazing-Can unlock and overclock-Cooling capabilities appears leading notch as this point does not get hot at all under full load (custom fan control Via MSI Afterburner)-Competes with Nvidia 560 but can be unlocked and overclocked to compete with 570 and possibly 580. I can't list any negatives about HIS... However I can list negatives about AMD:-6950's in basic are just waaaay to extended. ten.5" I think I can barely squeeze it in my Antec 900-AMD has under no circumstances had the finest drivers, will get greater with time. This HIS 6950 is a uber win. Such a nice card for the value.

@Too Extended Rift isn't optimized incredibly well. It's making use of DX9 which is not creating complete or appropriate use of your 6950 so expect an enormous hit from employing it on this game. The 6950 ought to have no troubles operating current games at max. None unless size matter to you but you must have the correct mid tower to fit this. Will be finding 1 in June.

Rapid. Dual BIOS is handy for tinkering.I updated the BIOS to unlock an additional 150 shaders with no loading the 6970 BIOS due to the voltage differences. The update was ridiculously simple as nicely.Employing the ATI software, I was quickly able to run up the speeds as well. The card is a beast, but not a con so as lengthy as you know what you're getting. The blue sticker is ugly. The blue sticker is removable. I peeled most of it off, then used some goo gone to eliminate the residue. With the face of the card absolutely blacked out, it looks good.

Looks Nice, Great Cost Driver Difficulties. Installed with a clean copy of Win 7 64bit. As extended as windows drivers had been installed everything is fine. After the drivers from the cd or net website are installed, the video grow to be very shakey. Completely odd and disappointing. At this price I anticipated more. I did not want to devote the funds on a GTX 570, but immediately after this knowledge I am going to do that. Manufacturer Response:Dear HIS Buyer, Thank you for assistance in HIS. -2GB of GDDR5, this card will carry you thru the years-a lot additional efficient graphics pipeline more than the HD five series(smaller but just as efficient shaders, and two set up engines vs 1 set up engine in HD5), this card will get closer to its theoretical's than the HD 5850ኢ ever will. -MLAA is a quite cool AA mode(NV does not have this)-EQAA modes(similar to Nvida's CS mode)-Fan is pretty efficient at keeping the GPU cool-OC's like a champ. I maxed out the CCC oc slider to 840 and runs stable. This is no voltage added btw. These cards can hit 950 no issue. -Power tune feature gives you handle more than the energy draw of the card.-new driver coming out soon that will give us tessellation control override. -my edge detect(another Radeon only feature) also tippled in functionality over my HD 4850. Edge detect is in fact quite usable now and still the most superior excellent mode I have observed but. -Fan can be a bit on the loud side if you set manage to 40% or above. Honestly, their is no cause for it to be that higher though. The GPU can tolerate up to 105c and at 30% speed, it will not hit 80c nor will you be able to hear it. Very non problem. As for HIS. I picked up this card with the free of charge shipping and rebate deal. Not only that, but HIS has the coolest looking art. Sorry sapphire, your ruby interpretation is ugly and I was not a fan of your naked ice man in the past either. HIS box is good also, with all the things you will need. Get this card. I guarantee you, you won't be disappointed. PS. For these that are interested, this card does certainly flash into a HD 6970 for the full 24 shader arrays. Flashing is at your personal expense although. Just since their is a safe switch on the card does not me it will be honored under warranty. I'm not flashing mainly because I'm unsure if future batches will be flashable and I would rather crossfire with the same card. Annihilates what ever I've thrown at it. No driver issues on Windows 7 x64, just make sure to get the latest from ATI/AMD. A good upgrade from my failed 8800gt. Card is really new, and as a result, so are the drivers. Steam doesn't recognize the card. Card is massive but did fit in my Antec 300. Is a bit power hungry but that's a single of the prices you spend for a card like this. Make certain you have a strong power provide. For ~趚 this is a sweet deal, especially because it's a 2gb card. It beats the stock 560 Ti and is much more "future-proof" due to max memory. Can't comment on fan noise due to the fact my push-pull config sounds like an airplane currently.

Easily installed very and highly effective. (make sure you read other thoughts!) Drivers installed flawlessly on Ubuntu and AMD stream kit with 1.1 opencl help worked out of the box. (shear point and click Windows style joy) Operating perfectly on an underrated energy provide even more than-clocked (disclaimer this is not great for the card nor secure ;) ) Temperature by no means desires to come up previous 70 It could appear strange but I do not really know how the graphics on the card are but it runs more quickly then anything I could think. I am using it for school and for operate in OpenCL and the further gig of ram tends to make this card even much better. Does not help OpenGL four. Which is actually not that huge of a deal. Not a true con but my hdmi monitor doesnt play good with the gpu on boot (I believed the card was negative for a handful of days). This card has back up firmware and can be flashed to the 6970. The differences amongst the 6970 and 6950 are purely computer software and when you obtain this card you are receiving a correct 6970 just with a application lock (which considering that it has back up firmware you are totally protected to flash). I did a lot of homework prior to obtaining this factor and for the cost variety is easily the most steady option. Some a single gave this card a single egg and that guy really should do some homework on how computers perform. His complaint was that the internets drivers where additional up to date then the ones on the cd.

Unlockable 6970, great cooling, capability to unlock shaders only if you do not want to risk re-flashing with a 6970 bios which has greater voltages. Upgraded from a Sapphire Radeon 4870 1GB and I can definately inform a main improvement in FPS, particularly playing on my 40inch Samsung HDTV. Just installed Dragon Age two with the high rez pack and it appears beautiful, tempted to reinstall Crysis to run on my HDTV now at full resolution. In addition ambient temps are reduced then my 4870 when idling which is good, at 40% fan speed its at around 38-40 Celcius. DX 11, Shader 5., and Open GL4.1 in contrast to the GeForce 5XX series with Open GL 3.2, did I mention Eyefinity also? My windows encounter score went up from 6.9 to 7.eight for Graphics and gaming Graphics in Windows 7 knowledge index. Fan can get loud if you push it previous 70%. I cranked it to 100% just to see how loud it is and it actually sounds like a jet engine, can be loud if you have fan speeds running constantly above 70%. CARD IS Enormous, about 11 inches or so lengthy and about two inches thick, fortunately it fit into my case but other folks check dimensions before you get. No Physx support either :-( My setup is:Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bitMSI K9A2 Platinum Crossfire moboPhenom II 965 AM2+ cpu three.4 GHZ (OC to three.6GHZƞGB DDR2 320GB WD 7200 RPM Challenging DriveHIS Radeon 6950 2GB (Shader Unlock Only at this time no OC however)If you do contemplate unlocking to a complete fledged 6970 bios I recommend unlocking the shaders very first and seeing if it is excellent enough for you. The Threat and Reward tradeoff is not there for me at the moment simply because with the Shaders unlocked it runs excellent. The RAM on the 6970 is diverse then the 6950 consequently the timings and voltage are different and can lead to the 6950 to poop out if you push it to really hard, OC can be accomplished succesfully on HIS Radeon 6950 and so can the Bios reflash, but id rather not stress the situation but and when rates come down ill get a second 1 in crossfire mode.

Quiet and a snap to install. Early reports show incredibly effective scalability in crossfire mode and it's my hope to add another a single of these six months from now soon after Nvidia has released some 560s and pushed the price down additional. That said, possessing a single 1900x1200 screen proper now in the handful of games I've played I haven't had a require to scale something back from max so I'll be adding two more monitors when I add that other card. I also have a monitor with Displayport (HPZR24w) so I was leaning toward AMD cards. Card is roughly ten.5" lengthy. In my case 黲II) it isn't a problem. In truth, I have and optional 120mm fan outside my tough drive bay and I have this card installed and there's room for each (although I'm probably losing a small efficiency from the fan). As I pointed out prior to, element of the cause I went this route was Displayport and my one particular bummer is that the card doesn't come with a mini to normal show port adapter. It did not fit in my situation that has a particular harddrive cage at the bottom. I ended up removing that harddrive cage and installed all my drives working with a Raid enclosure that uses two five 1ǘ inch bays.

Investigation just before you obtain, this card is big and may well have clearance issues in smaller circumstances. my full tower has the room but its tight. This is the very best graphics card out there for the dollars. Unlocked, make sure you do the force unlock method as mearly switching the bios switch did nothing for me. Don't bother overclocking, just unlock and run fan at 50%, a lot quiet and AWSOME performer. Blew me away. Upgraded from GTX 260 and glad I did. None so far soon after about a month of use, outlived the geforce 400 series. You do require to manually set the fan speed, 40% for truly quiet and risk-free, 50% for unlock and nonetheless not also loud. I tried two geforce 460s in sli, one ran wayy also hot, the other started artifacting immediately after 3 weeks. Tried a 470, worked for one day then began artifacting as nicely, then no picture. I'm an A+ certified qualified, I have five operating computer systems and I have to say, ATI wins these final two rounds -- and I've owned just about every NVIDIA card because the TNT.

Reference style, so you can count on comparable efficiency to other OEM's, even though getting...More affordable than the rest. Naturally, you get less when you pay much less but it's great to have the potential to choose to spend for the bundled extras. Noisy if you turn the fan up beyond 40%. I haven't been able to have it get to that point working with the auto fan profile, nevertheless. By 50% it sounds like a handheld vacuum. I shudder to believe what 100% would be. Trade-offs to keep in thoughts when you go for lowest price tag:-HIS doesn't permit the installation of aftermarket coolers.-Only a 2-year warranty-No mini DisplayPort adapterIf you program on going aftermarket for HSF, or would be needing to acquire the added adapters anyway, then you may possibly as properly pay added up-front and get a longer warranty along with it.In my case, this came with specifically what I needed and nothing at all else, so I was happy to pocket the financial savings and get the exact same efficiency!

As of 3ቮ񳏋 and Catalyst version 11.2, these are nevertheless unlockable to the 6970 BIOS. Do so at your personal danger, on the other hand (see other thoughts). I upgraded from a 4890 which by itself was capable of playing most games on high at 1080p. Probably due in large portion to the 2gb of VRAM, this card easily gets double the FPS in FurMark, despite the fact that I haven't tried playing any games on it yet.And perhaps the biggest factor in favor of this card is the dual BIOS switch. If you screw up flashing it, like I did the initially time, and finish up with a card that won't boot (or BSODs just before you can do something valuable in Windows), basically move the slider to the recovery position, re-flash your original BIOS, and you're excellent as new. Please see Google for much more comprehensive guidelines prior to you try this, although! Card is significant, even though this isn't as substantially of an problem as some individuals make it out to be. It fits perfectly fine in my cheap ฤ case, even when it's sharing space with 5 challenging drives (this machine performs double duty as a HTPC and a gaming rig hooked up to a 55" Tv), a Tv tuner, and a relatively big CPU cooler. The wonderful thing is that I have sufficient energy connectors in there to hook every little thing up (this card requires two by itself).Runs a bit warm because the stock fan profile sucks. My tips is to use MSI Afterburner (works with all cards, not just MSI ones) to generate a custom fan profile. My custom profile doesn't go about 60% fan, which still stays quiet and keeps the card beneath 80 even when operating Furmark for an hour. There have been reports that a direct 6970 BIOS flash will fry the RAM on 6950 cards due to higher voltage and tighter timings. What I did, and what I would recommend you do to be risk-free, is to unlock the extra shaders by modding the BIOS, but to leave the voltage alone (in other words, do NOT flash with a stock 6970 BIOS) and do all your overclocking by means of CCC or MSI Afterburner. Presently I have the card running with the 6970 shader count, clocks at the max CCC limits of 840񳄝. I don't see myself OCing any additional than that at least not for a lengthy time, as overall performance above these levels merely isn't required at this point in time.
