have enough space in the case, and adequate processor/memory to get all the overall performance it has to give...it's as huge as a Clydesdale, and as sturdy...Fabulous card...in fact identified that my CPU (early Phenom II) was bottlenecking the card's overall performance; upgraded to a quad core 965, and all was well... Fan is LOUD at one hundred%, but you don't want to run it over 40% to retain it cool. Big and heavy...don't hit anybody with this issue, lol...just make confident your case is huge adequate. It's quick enough to give a strong 60 FPS at max settings on Wings of Prey, at 1920x1080. Discovered a smaller concern with ATI drivers; had to roll them back two releases to get mipmap textures correct. This is a solid value.

Does the similar operate as as two 4850X2's in X-Fire (yes that is four gpu's with 4Gig's of DDR3 ram) with superior overall performance and an average of five to ten FPS far better on most games. The fan is a tiny noisy. I would like to see a price drop to make the card an even 跌.. or less :-) The Bios switch is correct next to the Crossfire hookups on the card recessed in the leading trim. It is unnoticeable but it is there. The best of the card has a 1 and 2 engraved just above the switch(really small). To these who say there is no switch I beg you to please appear once more, and you will uncover it there. I didn't even notice the switch when I installed the card, but identified it when dusting my Computer. I hope this helps.

runs all games max settings just fine appears amazing black ops max settings and AA x16 keeps more than 100 fps @ 1200 x 1080 with a mild overclock but all round i really like it its fairly a bit more rapidly than my 4870's in crossfire plus i can now use eyefinity which i plan to spreadacross 3 25" monitors stock cooler is not that fantastic hopefully they come out with a much better aftermarket one overclocked to 950񳆚 and 20% wattage it get as well hot also rapidly more than 90c in a matter of seconds and the drivers crash it gets plenty of airflow from my inwin maelstrom case so it sits @ 915񳆚 and 14% it runs stable

It's extremely rapidly and quite reasonably priced. I was glad when I ultimately received this card and identified that Eyefinity was usable in Negative Corporation two ultimately. Previously, I'd been employing a Radeon 5850 which just didn't have enough muscle to play at 4800x1200 at a framerate which was smooth enough to reliably play the game on the web (ㅪ, 4800x1200, 8x AF, 4x AA, HBAO off). This was my one particular killer app I was intersted in, so I was happy to see I'd invested wisely. There is small to be stated about this card that is negative. It's a solid decision at this cost point, after all.

Bought this to replace my HIS 4870 512MB and with the current release drivers, this 6970 beats my 4870 by a fair margin. Also, the card has wonderful power and throttle management! Cooler could have been a bit greater. But nothing at all to cry over.I hold the fan at 45%. With the similar settings amongst the 4870 and 6970 the framerates (drivers are 10.11) are:Counter-Strike: Source: 43% increase.Shattered Horizon: 270% boost.Crysis Warhead: 93% increase.Left 4 Dead two: 32% raise.S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call Of Pripyat: 200% increase.Worth it? Yep.My CPU: Q6600 OCed to two.7Ghz.

Operates, far better than 5870 for the very same price, new 3d technology. supports xfire additional than two unlike the 6870, comes with a case sticker only factor i can consider of is it doesn't look as sleek as the 5870 paired with a 3.five phenom x4 its a great combo

Not confident about the positives however. Right of the box I'm drastically disappointed. No BIOS switch. This appears to be a cheapened Rev 2 layout. Had I identified this I would NOT have purchased the card. I picked up two for CF set up with Koolance water blocks. Not confident the blocks will fit now till they arrive. I will be checking out pics on line for reference style. DO NOT BUT this card if you want original reference design!

Possibly work specifically as the 1st gen 6970 Has no bios switch as shown on NewEgg pictures or the backplate. Not worth trying to see if utilizing any aftermarket coolers will fit or not, as you don't know what you're obtaining. NewEgg wants to keep track of their exact inventory or make notes if item is diverse than whats shown, additional so when it comes to video cards, as client want to know specifically what they're purchansing

Cons: -Fan at 100% is EXTREMELY LOUD!-Cards can get quite hot under "auto" fan setting-ATI Powerplay seems to screw with my overclocking

Pros: -Very fast-Nice black back plate to help with heat dissipation and card rigidity
Comment:
I bought 2 of these cards and they absolutely destroy anything I throw at them. The only downside is they run very hot. Ambient temperature of 21C in my room and these cards get up to 78C d 45% fan speed while Bitcoin mining. At 100% fan speed these cards literally (and I'm being serious) sound and act like blow-dryers. I could stick my head behind my pc to dry my hair after a shower easily with these two cards. The 2 cards I got were the reference design and still have the BIOS switch on them.
