Cons: Modular cables not very flexible and not suited for smaller cases.

Pros: Quality build - single rail. less then 2% flux.
Comment:
Over the years I have, through experience, learned the importance of quality power supply units. Many years ago, I had built a socket 754 setup - I had browsed the web seemingly for hours reading every review for every part, except for PSUs, as I have concluded the best value was finding a case with a PSU unit included.Needless to say, through my mistakes I've garnered a most proper taste for excellent PSUs, in fact, I dare say each build, I consider the PSU the only thing I will not sacrifice on.Today I am reviewing the NZXT 750 Modular.Test bed:Intel 2500k b 5.2 ghzAMD 6950 b 950/1575 mhz, unlocked shaders (6970)G.skill 16gb 1600 b 1866 8-9-8Asus Maximus IV GENE-ZCorsair H60Scythe Ultra kaze x 3Scythe Kama 92mm x 1Gelid Icy Vision rev. 2Start up, idle:It starts up just fine (as it should) the real test here is its accoustics. With the chassis fans turned down via fan controller - I've noticed, or should I say did NOT notice any loud fan idle as my experience with corsairs tend to do. A quick check with AI suite II and the voltages have a 0% flux on all rails with less then 1% variance. So far so good.Moving on straight to high load I've accumulated slightly under 700 wattage and maintained it for just over an hour... No burning smell, no house fires. Great, but let's check the numbers:Using a 3M infrared thermometer, I've taken the internal temperature of the PSU at 15 minute intervals. This lead, at a ambient temperature of 24c, to a 27c through to a final temp of 41c at the components** note that infrared sensors are indifferent to the variance of temperatures at the intake and exhaust ports.Being an 80+bronze, this PSU falls under the 50c power rating; so it's running well within it's design. It's also important to notethat even all full load, the fan ran effortlessly and yet, quietly. Very impressive.Overshoot Transient Testing:At less then 1% spike in the 12 and 5 volt rails, they might as well not even be there at all! Well under specs, very formidable performance considering this reading was recorded as "hot" at over 40 degrees. The rundown: Overall I am VERY impressed with the NZXT 750w modular. The aesthetics are pleasing and the quality of this unit is astounding. Features such as AC filtering and Nippon Chemi-Con capacitors (some of them are even polymer!!) scream quality. You can tell just by LOOKING at it, that this PSU means business.NZXT has really brought it home with their power-supply line up.Quality build with a 5 year warranty, 3-day exchange and modest pricing; I wouldn't be surprised if in the future people passed up a seasonic to opt for a NZXT.5/5
