I was going to buy one of the ATI 5000 series cards that were about the same price but they were all 128bit memory while this card is 256bit. I had a feeling that the cards witht the 128bit memory wouldn't perform as well so I went looked at the reviews on Tomshardware. I was right, the HD4870 out performed the other cards because of the larger memory bus. So I bought this card and I could not be happier. I only really play WOW and LORTO but I have the graphics completely maxed out and they play and look great. Running it on Windows 7 64bit. Installed without any problems and went and got the latest catalyst drivers. I have it in a case with (6) 120 fans. (3) for intake and (3) for exhaust. It idles at around 53C with the fan speed set to 35% and under load it only hits around 67C. I upped the GPU clock speed to 750 and the memory speed to 1000. No issues. Got to love it.

As always this company gives you fast delivery, and lowest prices on quality products. I wanted to upgrade my vid card and this was the best deal for a quality card.

My 8800gt fried, so I needed a new card. I wasn't expecting that much of an improvement, but this card was quite the upgrade. I now run everything on full, with no lag. Crysis on it's fullest settings runs liquid smooth.

This card has some nice features and promises to be a nice budget gamers card but was a doa out of the box. High application games and full screen videos locked up and black screened every time. Fan controls would not work either.

i got this after reading all the reviews on 4870s i must say this make sure you have new drivers or it will bsd your win 7 system. After new drivers i noticed 3 more lockups on my system, then i put two noctua case fans in it i havent had a problem since so im assuming this thing gets smoking ridiculous hot as its my only expansion in an atx mid tower case.

works good as long as u have really good airflow to keep it cool i have 3 120mm fans and it runs at 75c at full load my old case had 2 120mm fans and it ran at 85c at full load so make sure u have plenty of air flow before u buy this card

I have no idea how well this card works. I wanted a fairly decent card, but required an S-video out for a legacy device. The product description states that it had this (the product description still has this as a feature, even though the RMA tech stated that he would bring this up to whoever is in charge of that sort of thing. Aparrently they cut and pasted the spec's from the ATI reference card, without checking if they differed from the XFX design). 99% of the people buying this card wouldn't care less, but unfortunately, for me, it was a deal breaker. To give the company credit, I was able to return it fairly easy, and was out only the shipping cost to return it. Caveat emptor, as they say.

I have a few diffrent brands of 4870's. this one has the egg like cooler which seems to be so they could sell the card for cheaper and save some money.. ohhh boy did this thing over heat im talking 90c at idle with 70% fan speed my other XFX 4870 with the full cooler stays at 30c idle and 70c max load which is about right. it is a good card in general but this cooler stuck.. had to RMA but this company will always take care of you.

this card is an excellent card for the money, have had it over 2 months and still it works perfectly. Only complaint is that it does run a little hot but as long as you have good ventilation in your system you will be fine.

The card tends to run a little hot around 68c on average in my system, and the cooling system is rather cheap. The fan runs load and is rather annoying, and i honestly was expecting a little more performance from from the card. there are better cards out now that are in a similar price range. I recommend searching a little longer for a better card.

Runs hot enough to cook your CPU. I made the mistake of getting two of these to run in Xfire. Big, big mistake. You better have a water block cooling system for these, but wait, if you remove the piss.poor cooling solution you void the warranty. The supplied sink and fan ducting is laughable. Runs under normal load at 90 Celcius, easily. And after owning them for a month or so the fans will begin to rattle like peas in a tin can. Since Ex.FU.Ex used such a POS fan there is no bearing to lubricate to stop the noise. XFX no longer carries the card so get to break down your system and send the entire unit in for RMA for one shatty fan. Assuming you haven't cooked the card and or your CPU in the interim. Avoid this junk card. Get something else. Anything else.

Cons: Crashes in many games at default clocks.

Pros: Able to play most games max settings with some AA
Comment:
Without touching ATI overdrive 80% of my games will crash from 3-20 minutes in and black screen my computer(forcing hard restart). After much testing and trials I can only assume that XFX uses memory chips that barely make the grade, underclocking my video memory by 100mhz and running the fan z 100% is the only way to guarantee some stability with this card. I've googled the issue and most people that have the instant black screen followed by 5-10 sec of game audio then have to restart, have an XFX card, and many are the 4870. Games still run great, in Bad Company 2 I get max settings at 1680x1050 w/2 AA no HBAO with 40-55fps, though with stock clocks I imagine I could push 4x AA with the same framerates. The next card I put in this i7 rig, ati or nvidia, I am not choosing XFX for a vendor.

COD, Dragon, Battlefield 2, NFS Shift. Going to add a second in crossfire im so happy with it. Glad to get rid of my gtx 275 junker any day.

This card is great for the money. Handled most things I threw at it fine. It's a great price per dollar. xfx has great support and double lifetime warranty. I liked this video card unfortunately the one I got started giving me problems down the month and so I returned it to NCIX and instead of getting new one I Decided to save for a 5870. I'd reccomend this card if your on a budget.

Got this to replace a 1 year old, ATI 3650 Gig version, witch was a great card until I got a new 22 inch screen. and now I can run Far cry with 8xAA, at 1600x1200, maxeed settings, at 380 fps tops!!! Far Cry 2 4xAA, very high settings, at 1368x968, at about 80FPS maybe more, and crysis with 4xAA, 1280x1024, high settings. and the only thing it bonged down a little bit with was crysis about 30 to 55 fps because crysis is crysis!!!!! like the durned hardest game ever to run other thoughts: PC specs Intel core 2 duo E8200 2.6 ghz, 4 gig of 1066mhz kingston RAM, 550Watt ATX PSU, 320 gig hard drive, MSI motherbord and this baby. I plan to overclock to like 3.1 or 3.3 ghz and that should give me some more FPS in crysis

Cons: - Blows Air into the case, raising temps of everything inside.- takes up 3 mATX slots!- Loud fan n lowest setting.- 65 Celcius n IDLE

Pros: - Can play any game today.- Good if you have a gaming case with proper ventilation and noise isolation :)
Comment:
Why is this so cheap? Because people don't notice the "little things" that make this really bad: Blows air INTO case, raising all temps, takes up nearly 3 mATX slots (had to remove my sound card), requires a proper ventilated case, need 2-6 pin connectors instead of 1 like most cards. I recommend this only to serious gamers who have good case ventilation and noise isolation in there cases.

This really kicks the crap outta most nvidia cards at a cheaper price. If you don't care much for dx11, get this card since the new ones are a bit overpriced relative to this card's performance.

Cons: Loud fan

Pros: Fast strong video card
Comment:
Upgraded from an old All in wonder 800XL... so it was quite a leap. It works very well for it's price, I can play most of the games I play at max/ultra settings, and get max FPS. Only con is the fan is loud... but thats not a problem, my room is pretty loud with other fans going, so it kind of blends in. Great card for the price.

Great card, a definite buy if you have decent air circulation in your case. Double lifetime warranty can't be beat. I bought two of these cards about 7 weeks ago to run 3 monitors. Installed them and was getting 65C at idle and 87C under 97% load with 90% fan speed. I felt this was hot so I cut a hole in the side of my case and added a 120mm fan aimed at the cards for about $15. That brought idle to 55C and full load down to 66C at 21% fan speed which, I am quite comfortable with and it quieted the cards down a lot. To be fair you can't expect old or low end cases to support performance cards without a little thermal management, right. I can run Farcry and all my Command and Conquer games at highest settings on my 28'' 1920 x 1200 center monitor from Tiger. I turn on the side monitors at 1600 x 1200 for work and some games. Still trying to get all 3 monitors to work on Farcry though. Rebate checks arrived already. Would buy again.

Cons: No DX11

Pros: Cost Effective
Comment:
Back a month ago, I was deciding to go for either a 5770 or two 4870. I end up buying two 4870s because the price of two 4870s was almost $100 cheaper than a 5770 and almost perform as well - without the DX11 of cause.DX11 and eyefinity is something nice to have, but not a lot of games out there support such technology yet, and by the time most games support these features, I figured that 7770 (or whatever you call them in the future) will be out and I can spend the money saved today on two 5870s or even 6870s.Did have some trouble running Borderlands but its more of the game issue than Drivers / Hardware. CoD MW2 runs PERFECT with MAX output.Installed my 4870s on a i5 750 running at 4.15GHz OCed
