Quad core, three.2 Ghz. Updated bios while waiting for delivery, and plugged it in as soon as I got it. Worked completely. I know it's not a Deneb core, and so there's no L3 cache. But I was seeking at the Propus anyways. I don't run something that an L3 cache is so crucial. CPU load is so low now.

- Faster Than Any Athlon II X4- Smaller Efficiency Gap Among This & Phenom II X4 955- 95 Watts- Quad Core- Wonderful Price tag None From My Viewpoint I have been building systems for 18+ years and usually appear to buy at about the 70% mark for any element. This CPU falls into that category, as I'd say that about 30% of the current CPU lineup exceeds this chip, but I've been burnt far also a lot of times in the previous by buying a top-of-the-line CPU or video card pondering that I'll be "future proofing" my method only to come across that the component drastically falls in price tag proper soon after I purchase it and ends up being dirt low cost in the not too distant future. At ninety-nine bucks, this 840 can't at the moment be beat. The next step up, the X4 955, is 40% a lot more pricey and yields only a little three-five% overall performance increase in most tests. It's also a 125 watt processor, while this 840 is the most highly effective 95 watt chip out there. Trust me, in one more year when a whole new line up of processors is out there and you view a chart of CPU performance rankings, the 840 and 955 will be neck-to-neck by comparison to the newest chip's that will dwarf them.

Wow this factor is fast. Upgraded from an older Athlon Dual-Core 4200+ 2.2 and wow this is a enormous leap in functionality. Runs cool and quiet with the stock HSF. Fantastic for spending budget builds. No L3 cache, but I knew that and didn't care. This is nevertheless a steal for the efficiency. Very advised for those that can't afford higher-finish CPU's or are wanting to stay in the 95W range.Make confident the RAM you intend to use doesn't require much more power, but you need to know that anyway.

This is actually a high finish Athlon II X4 No L3 cache so it's not a Phenom II. AMD has suckered us so they don't have my approval anymore.

Value, speed, It's AMD so excellent bang for the buck. No L3 Cache but you know what who cares. I gave up on Intel back in the 90's for the main purpose that competition spurs advancement. AMD has always been great to us geeks who don't have a massive bank roll to get into Intel's program.

Really quick and Affordable. No L3 cache, but most folks constructing systems that that target this value range won't notice. What's odd is that AMD calls this a Phenom II X4 when it's not, it's an Athlon II X4 based CPU as an alternative. This CPU is the similar thing as the Athlon II X4 645 CPU and only diff is the 1mhz in clock speed that this CPU has over the Athlon II X4 645 CPU and that's it. Each sell for the very same price, but you get a whopping 1mhz additional with this CPU. :)

I bought this to use in sub 跌 custom builds for my workplace. I add a cheap video card for ุ and have 3 monitor output for trading stocks. It's a quite rapidly chip at a excellent price tag. Rates greater in windows knowledge than my q6700 intel I was disappointed to run cpu-z and discover out this is essentially a athlon II x4 not a Phenom. It's sold as a Phenom mainly because of the unusually higher clock speed for an Athlon chip. It's a excellent chip, but I felt like it was a bit deceiving on AMD's aspect. it's a good chip for the price (๳). Excellent for budget builds.

This processor is great and I hugely advocate it to anyone. None I'm not employing the stock cooler, but I picture it's sufficient. It does look smaller sized than other coolers I've gotten from AMD though.

Lots rapid - 4 cores for around 贄 is a great deal. The only Phenom II not to have the added 6MB L3 Cache. In most circumstances, this is a minor caveat. Don't get hung up on the cache. If it was only like 1MB of cache total, that would be a dilemma, but the positive aspects beyond 2MB is not a huge deal.

Value to overall performance! Overclockability......if you decide on. A lot of men and women get stuck on synthetic benchmarks and so forth. When it comes down to it 90% of people who use computers would not know the distinction in this CPU and a much far more high-priced Intel one particular. There are too quite a few other variable in laptop system than just a CPU! Not truly a con, but AMD fans can run on the noisy side. If you want a quiet CPU buy a aftermarket CPU fan for 25 bucks. I like the comment from the University trained programmer.........."this is AMD advertising bull" this is a propus die!! Ahhh.......I believe it quite significantly states that in the title, so I am not sure exactly where you are misled.

Fantastic worth that won't break your pocket book. Processor performed nicely with Windows 7. My client was happy, as a result so am I. With 4GB of RAM to back it up, this processor will do every little thing you throw at it. Would make a great price range quad-core gaming CPU. Not a Black Edition CPU, so it doesn't have the massive overclocking possible of 1. I would put forth some far more money for a greater end CPU if your intentions are to overclock for maximum functionality, but out of the box this processor is very balanced in terms of performance/value.The heatsink and fan that comes with this model is incredibly fundamental. Aluminum heat sink with a typical AMD fan (without an AMD holo-sticker). Fan is quiet and moves decent amounts of air, on the other hand it's not flashy or show high quality by any implies. At stock frequency @ 70 degrees F ambient temperature, idle temps have been 37C, full load pressure test yielded 46C. Not too shabby, but undoubtedly not flashy. :)Gets the job done well. I believe that a far better heat sink would compliment this processor. I would have liked to see a heat-pipe heatsink vs the solid aluminum finned sink that comes with this processor, but the stock heatsink gets the job carried out properly. One particular could swap the heatsink out with 1 from another model of AMD CPU for a bit a lot more efficiency (Phenom II Black Edition's comes to thoughts.)

My board recognized it suitable away and was so a lot more quickly than the 7 year old AMD XP I bought from newegg for the identical cost. I love this Quad. None so far. I haven't really place a load on it but. I will probably do a burn in test in the future to see what rating I get. I don't actually OC. I make price range systems for loved ones, but I may well consider it for this a single. Purchased this as an upgrade from my intel q8300 2.5ghz quad and wow im amazed at the distinction! That a single still sells for 贶 and its not practically as rapid. The price is the most significant pro in this and also I can play GTAIV with no lagg whatsoever! No L3 Cache. Who cares although, its 100 bucks and it'll outperform anything in its cost class 10 instances over. Newegg is the best

It works the way it was developed to. -Not- underclocked, so the printed speed is what you end up with out of the box, I guess thats a great issue? It's idling at 10C proper now, rediculious appropriate? How dare a stock fan perform! The directions are terrible, some one who has not installed a cpu just before could quickly mess it up if they had not asked for enable of looked into tutorials. The computer software it comes with does not operate (on the cd). That is, the utilities do not work for monitoring the temperature and so on. Not -that- critical, but I did spend for the application so it'd be nice to be able to use it.... Me and my stupidness practically put the fan on in the wrong orrientation (not sitting properly for the bracket thingers, lol).If you haven't done this ahead of, study just before attempting. You don't get the luxury of trial and error with thermal paste.

Low temp. Sub 100W Low cost. Not a phenom, No L3 but we currently knew this. Not a 6 core with two disabled. Purchased this for my wife as an upgrade to her Athlon 5400+BE ƒ.8Ghg which I had clocked to 3.2Ghz.) The windows 7 boot time and more than feel did not change too substantially. IE: It was as rapidly or as slow as it was before being essentially the very same processor albeit with an added two cores. Exactly where it does shine is when you get to performing numerous issues, with the extra two cores the windows scheduler can genuinely go to town. producing functionality degradation much tougher to do. In video transcoding it shines. I was obtaining about eight.4 FPS on the old processor and now am finding consistently about 96FPS. The windows system rating went from six.2 (CPU) to 7.1 and all other metrics went up by .1 as well. Picked it up on sale so delivered to my door was at 90$ Idles at about 22c and maxes out at 31C (On water.) this is running on a Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD4P board.AM3 capable board with DDR2 800 Memory. So the phenom 965 would not see substantially acquire more than it due to the memory speed.

I was constructing a spending budget gaming rig, itx sized, and wow this cpu is quite fantastic. It has replaced an old two.2 ghz celeron e1500, the distinction is by leaps and bounds. In my case, with a stock cooler it remains about 40 degrees Celsius at load (mafia 2, farcry 2, high settings) Amongst getting cool, the fan on the cooler is decently quiet. Superior than other individuals I have utilized. Inexpensive and overclocks to 3.7 ghz easy. None so far, I delight in this new cpu. Why not get this if you are on a budget?

Really quickly for the income, runs very cool. Could of spent twice as significantly on an equally rapid Intel CPU. Much more then up to the task of handing contemporary games. Cant beat it for the value! Im certain your tired of reading it by now but, no L3 cache, not really a phenom blah blah. AMDs stock coolers are rather wimpy.Overclocking somewhat restricted. When i say runs very cool i mean it. Idle temps of eight-10*C / 19-21*C below prime95. Situation is a CoolerMaster HAF-912.CPU cooler is a CM hyper212 with ƒ) 120mm fans push/pull.

Quad Core, Low Value, Quite Very Fast, Scores a 7.3 in Win 7 x64bit for the CPU score. Get this and pair it up with 4gb or additional of DDR3 Ram and a PCI-E Graphics Card and a Challenging Drive with 32mb cache buffer or higher and ideally an ASUS motherboard and you will be in Heaven. No L3 Cache... This is a Propus Core... which technically makes this an Athlon X4... the Phenoms are created with Deneb Cores... So I tried this anyway and I also have an AMD 9850 Phenom with 2mb of L3 cache and this AMD 840 with no L3 cache smokes the 9850 in a benchmark by a tiny bit so im impressed with this chip. I like turtles.
