Cons: Photo quality is not great

Pros: Very Cheap, Relatively Fast
Comment:
All in all for the price this is a great printer for home or small - med size office. It's fast and the document quality is great. Even color flyers or brochures look good. Where is starts to show it's weakness is color photos. The quality is just not up to par with some of it's more expensive counterparts.

Cons: Cardstock is out (no more homemade bday cards). Unit is somewhat large and heavy - I had to screw down some plywood to extend the surface area of my printer stand.

Pros: No more dried out inkjet carts. Very fast printing (even in colour). Use 24 LB paper, and you will be happy.
Comment:
After a thunderstorm once, the printer appeared to be DOA. Trick is to unplug it for 5 mins (? its in the manual..). This resets the self-protection circuit that will keep the unit dead until you do. Probably a good feature that it seals itself off at the first surge (it doesnt know if more are coming or not).We usually go for a week or more between printing things, and inkjets would dry up .. forcing us to clean the inkjets (yet more ink wasted ) over and over. This baby can sit idle for a long while then spin up and print out a perfect document lightning fast. I think some of the reports of jams is from people using cheap-o 20lb paper (tissue paper, i call it). Use 24lb.

Cons: - 32MB onboard Memory is not enough.- SODIMM PC-133 memory is not as easy or readily available as DDR2/3 memory.

Pros: - Great Print Quality in Color and Monochrome.- Very quick at printing full Color pictures.- Easy to setup and a breeze to install the toner cartridges (just slide them in and that's it).- Inexpensive
Comment:
Overall a great product and I would definitely recommend this product for the price! It is a bargain!

Cons: HUGE and heavy

Pros: Fast printingColorNot that noisyEasy install
Comment:
This product was a lot larger and heavier than I had anticipated, however its printing quality is superb. Highly recommended if you're looking for a relatively inexpensive color laser printer.

Cons: Not found so far

Pros: Great product, easy to be installed

Just got from the store, the installation is a breeze, I plug it into the router, and install the software on my machine and it auto discovers the product and installation is done. Would say more when I use the product more.

Cons: Loud, takes a long time to start printing from sleep, low memory

Pros: Colour, quick prints when it gets going, supports networking, good quality prints, great price
Comment:
This is a great printer that I'd recommend to anyone. Inkjets are a ridiculous scam so I'm glad I finally made the switch to laser. I'm still on the starter toner a year later after doing tons of prints, which are fast and look great. My only problems are that it is very loud while printing, and from the time I send a print job to it from sleep mode and the time I have it in my hand is probably 20 seconds. The other issue is that it only comes with 32MB of memory, but I was easily able to upgrade this with a 256MB stick I got out of an old laptop.

Cons: linux setup was a bit tricky, thanks brother

Pros: + size+ cost+ networking
Comment:
I haven't pushed this printer's graphic abilities yet, other than maps and other simple colour documents, but it's been reliable and easy to use,I use it in a mixed home network running macs, windows, and linux. Once the linux side of things was configured, it all works smoothly and effortlessly. I have it plugged directly into the router. It isn't the fastest, but it's plenty fast for us, and it isn't the quietest, but it isn't bad, and the text printout is very clear, with decent images (haven't tested it much). The price, on sale, was excellent, and mostly covered by selling the used mono laser printer plus colour inkjet..

Cons: Hard to read display, small memory.

Pros: Low price, fast printing, initial setup took but a few minutes, works flawlessly, more than adequate for my needs.
Comment:
Definitely get a memory upgrade if you want to print full page graphics.Color laser are bigger and heavier than a b/w laser: you will need more space in all directions. It is a real good deal at this price.

I found this quite easy to setup on a network...yeah..toner is expensive...aren't they all? Still, it's gonna cost less than .10/copy ...beats going to staples.

Cons: Windows 7 CD didn't work; black text can be a bit fuzzy; toner a bit expensive

Pros: Fast colour printouts; accurate colours; driver is light on system resource
Comment:
This is the first colour laser printer I had purchased, so I didn't know what to expect. My previous impression of colour lasers is that they are really, really slow, especially among entry level printers. So I was pleasantly surprised by the 17ppm for /both/ BW and colour prints. It took a few seconds to warm up, but after that the page came out pretty quickly. The colour accuracy of this printer is pretty good, but I'd only used inkjets before so I have no basis for comparison. There's plenty of options available in the driver if you need to adjust things to your taste. Compared to monochrome lasers, black text printouts gets a bit fuzzy around the edges, and depending on the driver settings the black sometimes turns into composite CMYK black, or patterned dark "grey", either of which can be good or bad depending on taste. But this is certainly not for mass printing of BW documents. My biggest gripe with this printer though is the faulty Windows 7 driver CD that Brother included separately from other drivers. I can't find anything wrong physically with the disc, but for the life of me I just can't get any drive to read it. I ended up downloading the driver from Brother's website which was only a few megs, but still I lost a lot of valuable time. So just a heads up if you have Windows 7.Another thing is the toner, which goes for 69.99 each colour, comes to 280 for the whole CMYK package. A bit on the expensive side; even compatible cartridges go for ~200 or so. But I guess that's the price for all the fancy colours you get to put on your reports etc.I would recommend buying this if it's on sale (say around 120-150), otherwise you should also consider Samsung (cheaper) or HP (higher quality).

Cons: Big footprint

Pros: Easy to reset toner counter
Comment:
Good value if it is under $100. The running cost should be lower than other color laser printer. A few key strokes will reset the toner counter. Hope I can really get 3000+ pages from the starter toner.
