Cons: - very loud fan- user interface a little clumsy- remote takes those small watch batteries (CR2025)
Pros: - Can play most video formats I threw at it (divx, xvid..etc)- boots up fast- comes with cables and remote - nice looking case- can handle srt subtitles- extra USB host port to play off of USB key- can handle NTFS- PAL and NTSC support |
I haven't seen any reviews on this product yet so I bit the bullet and tried it. I wanted a portable hard drive that can play video files onto the TV without a PC and this is the cheapest.- biggest plus is the extra USB port so in case someone has a USB stick, this thing will play that too.- I like how it handles NTFS, especially when I have a 500GB drive- surprised that it can handle srt downloaded subtitles- biggest minus would be the very loud fan. I unplugged it and see how it goes. With low volume, this fan drowns out the audio.- the user interface is a little clumsy in that you need to exit the video playing in order to change settings (subtitle language, 16:9 vs 4:3...etc).
