Truly amazing board for just about something that does not need a higher end graphical display. Fast (for an Atom), dual core, hyperthreaded, 64-bit. Fully supports all of the x86_64/AMD64/x64 OSes out there. Includes a remote IP KVM remedy that consists of the potential to forward local storage, such as a CD/DVD or ISO. Incorporates IPMI help through a true BMC. Does NOT include things like an IO shield for the ports on the back. The on-board graphics are incredibly horrid. No Intel VT or VT-x help, so no virtualization acceleration. Only supports 4GB of RAM. The remote IP KVM seemed to call for IE to forward storage. Even though it's a mini-ITX, it utilizes a standard ATX power provide connector, so be cautious of what sort of energy supply you use. The initial one particular I attempted was in a mini-ITX case and it did NOT function. Luckily, the second 1 did the trick. All in all, it's a sweet board to construct a headless server for makes use of ranging from tiny NAS to a smaller to medium web server. I strategy to use mine as a high-finish residence router, higher-finish for house use anyway. I ended up placing mine in an Antec ISK300-150. I strategy to use the PCIe 1x slot for an add-in NIC so that I can bond the two on-board Intel NICs. I'm thinking of obtaining a second to use as a storage server.

I'm working with this board as a BSD firewall and its working great so far. Power footprint is really smaller. I have it in a case with no fan, the processor runs around 60ㅹ C which is fine the chip is rated up to 99. I thought 200 dollars was a lot for the board and the included processor but its the only board I could locate with two lan ports. When I was hunting I could uncover a board + identical processor for under 150. Your paying a lot for 2 lan ports. On board video is fairly negative. I undoubtedly wouldn't use it for a desktop technique. I can't even get the 1680X1050 resolution it says it supports to function with the open source aspeed drivers. Overall certainly a excellent server board. Makes use of around 25 watts for me, compared to my old firewall I'll make the funds I spent on this back in 3 years from savings in electricity. Wouldn't advocate for something other then server applications tho.

Best board for PFSense. The dual Intel LAN ports, and the low energy usage are fantastic for a firewall. The remote management is amazing as nicely. Operates truly nicely with an Antec ISK300-65 case to make deliver a highend firewall with a incredibly small, energy effective footprint. None I'm thinking about upgrading a number of other servers to this platform as effectively. For the value it is genuinely hard to beat.
