Cons: kinda noisy with the fan onLacks good documentation

Pros: USB 3, eSatasmalllooks pretty good.
Comment:
I like this enclosure, it seems pretty reliable so far, I used to use an onboard raid controller and will never go back. It is a bit noisy with the fan on, definitely noisier than my pc. And I understand the forums are good, but the instruction in the box come in a cd with mauals for other raid enclosures and they aren't that good. It's fortunate that it doesn't take a lots of though to get this going, but a little more hard info would be nice.

Cons: none

Pros: Lightweight, excellent heat dissipation, aluminum construction makes it strong, 4 different 'modes' one can set it at, USB 3.o and backwards compatible, e-Sata, has a smart fan
Comment:
I love everything about this enclosure. I put two 3TB HD's in it and it works beautifully. It saves a lot of space too. Nice simple design. Like it and would recommend it.

Cons: compact, poor cooling system.dual drives gets hot and once it does that, drive slows down.

Pros: cheap? could find places else where sells at $65raid 0, decent quality build. compact doesnt take much space
Comment:
as stated above, drives get too hot, the fan is TINY compared to its 4 bay raidbox. USB 3.0 is slower than esata, sucks. enclosure again bottlenecks with its raid card, maxing at around 220 MB/S when raid 0 barracuda 3.0tb should be capable of at least 250 MB/s to 300 MB/s in read and write.oh well cheap enclosure is what you get, i might try my hand on the 4 bay raidbox version as it seems to go to 250 instead of just stuck at around 210-220.rightttt, also note 220 is peak and max, average speed is around 180-190 in read/write. another note, enable write cache in device manager might improve write speed a bit, or quite a bit.

Cons: Setup and ease of use

Pros: Works well once it's running
Comment:
Although it's not difficult there are some hoops to jump through to get this device going. No ui or anything like that instead it uses jumper configurations. Mind you generally speaking it's one of those set and forget things so I suppose that's not a big deal. As a note to anybody using this hold the button inside as you turn it on to initialize. Mine didn't even turn on or light up in any way before I figured that one out. I was getting ready to RMA it.

Cons: Hard drives get a little warm, but not a huge deal.

Pros: Works great.Easy to set up.
Comment:
I bought this for one specific reason: To put my games on. Steam games, Origin games, and all retail games I may install. I had originally been running my games drives (2xSamsung 1TB F3's) in RAID1 using my Maximus IV Extreme's built in intel raid controller; and it worked. I just wanted them external for convenience sake, as well as well as the fact that software raid is generally slower.Well..jeez...I had no idea how slow. I was getting maybe 50mb/s on intels INTERNAL software RAID1 with these drives. With these very same drives inside this enclosure, I'm getting upwards to between 130mb and 150mb/s. Absolutely unreal. Extremely happy.

Cons: Weird setup procedure, wrong instructions (but can easily be corrected)

Pros: Good transfer speeds, sturdy construction
Comment:
The enclosure comes with almost everything you need. If your eSATA port does not support port multiplier, USB 3.0 still provides great transfer speeds. I averaged about 100+mb/s during on a 7200rpm drive and about 60-80mb/s on a W.D Green drive (ALL on USB 3.0). Currently using Hitachi 2TB 5K3000 hard drives on RAID 1 mirror mode, works perfectly. Too bad it's not easy to swap the hard drives though. Needs to remove 12 screws. I would prefer not to use screws and have direct access to the drives.

Cons: - Included cables are too short.- Errors in the manual.- Does get a bit toasty.

Pros: - RAID 0/1- USB 3.0- eSATA- Auto fan control.- Auto power off.- Price
Comment:
I put two 1 TB 7200 RPM drives into this unit and set them up as RAID 0, which my PC sees as a single encrypted drive (thanks to TrueCrypt). Works perfectly without a hitch, provided you're aware of the error in the user manual beforehand (thanks Serge_J!). Build quality is excellent and I'm very happy with it overall. My only real complaint is that it can get a bit on the warm side despite the aluminum construction and built in fan. It has never overheated though and I do use it often. I also found the included cables to be too short despite the fact that I placed this unit directly above my PC, on my desk. Anyone buying this may want to add longer ones to their order (I went with Startech's brand). I would give it five stars if not for these issues.

Cons: Incorrect instructions in manual

Pros: Awesome features for the price. USB 3.0, ESATA, RAID 0/1, auto fan control, auto usb shut off (when usb source is powered off)
Comment:
This thing was a huge pain in the butt to set up RAID 0 or 1 on (please keep reading). I followed instructions in manual precisely (and have owned previous models so am familiar) however, I could not get RAID 1 to work. I went to mediasonic website and posted in forum, the next day the admin replied and the day after he replied stating that the instructions are incorrect. Here's what he had to say."I notice the written instruction on the manual is wrong. So set the dip switch to which raid you want. hold confirmation button and then press power button (while holding to the confirmation button), when the raid you selected lights up, then you can release the confirmation button"I hope this helps out people who have bought this before they have updated the manual (if they do). Mediasonic's customer service in their forum is very good.
